  1. Important to note, the plan was absolutely to incorporate this new badge on digital media. If you remember during the voting process, they provided reference to how both options looked on both the social media accounts and in the official premier league highlights package.

    So something’s changed since then.

  2. now he's getting some consitency in front of goal, i'd like to see him grab more than one in a game here and there. he's only done it twice (the hat-trick against liverpool and the brace at arsenal) to my knowledge.

    always room for improvement. 😅

    Exactly.

Also, imagine the likes of Archer, Iroegbunam ( Just as samples, insert any other top young talent here ) et all getting a chance to play in the Portuguese top League, be exposed to different environments, coaching methods etc and vice versa.

Smaller clubs than us have similar link ups.

I'm not certain the people who are mad, have actually pinpointed why they are upset.

These clubs will have been looking in places others won't have, this is how you find the Bissoumas, Julian Alvarez etc before they become them.

It's easy to sell this as a mutually beneficial agreement, but we're essentially using smaller, poorer clubs to grow the Aston Villa brand. I'd hate for us to be on the end of it so I'm not gonna change my tune just because it benefits us.

I just hope it isn't the start of a City style "portfolio" (I despise that term in this context) but I fear that it will be.

I'm not sure what the "confused" reactions are about.

I guess the question is whether you view the City Football Group and other global football brands to be an abomination to football, or a blueprint to aspire to. Our owners clearly feel the latter, and I **** hate it.

i made the grave mistake in tweeting this exact opinion and my mentions still haven't recovered.

What interest or reason would I have to defend any sort of " shady " gambling company.

I'm not " defending " anything... i'm merely trying to figure out why, what seems to me, to be a high level of hypocrisy and bizarre focus on one particular industry when in my view there are much worse things promoted in and around the game. Which don't seem to receive the same level of moral signaling etc. Even if they have equal or even more devastating effects on people.

I personally don't care... I just know that people are very selective with their virtue.

The only valid arguments I've seem=n so far, are about some of these companies being shell companies for more sinister dealings and money laundering etc.

The " addiction " angles of it doesn't outdo any of the other much worse vices promoted around the game IMO... sorry.

it just seems like you're pissing into the wind comparing vices to one another for absolutely no reason other than you're mad that you think people are "virtue signalling". even if people were doing that, what does it really matter?

It doesn't take " flippancy " or expert knowledge to make common sense comparisons.

Man gtfoh... if you have personally been affected, or know people who have, so it hits close to home, then just say that... ( alchohol , drug abuse etc. hit close to home for me )

If i return with the name calling and nastiness i'll be banned, because I can guarantee it's one of my specialisations.

Selectively extracting " Balti Pies " from a post where the nuance or direction is easily extracted from an objective perspective is cretin like behaviour.

I'm sorry if you, or someone you know, can't control themselves from spunking their life savings on betting.

I maintain... that there are many things much worse than " gambling " which surround and are involved in the game, which get nowhere near the same stigma. When in the grand scheme of things they are actually much worse, some of which aren't necessarily by "choice " either.

It is one of MANY things which can cause " devastation " .

Just because you don't agree with the comparisons don't make them any less valid.

i don't really see why you feel the need to defend a shady gambling company from criticism. all the whataboutisms add nothing to the conversation because none of the vices you listed are making regular appearances on the front of football shirts. we should not be in the business of exposing a mass audience which includes vulnerable, easily influenced and underage people to a hobby that has the potential to cause financial ruin. i don't see how that's in question really.

i don't really care if we have an official gambling partner, ale partner, or whatever. so long as it's discreet and not plastered all over our branding like we're an easy mark.

  7. i saw a tweet that made a lot of sense regarding konsa moving back to right back when carlos comes back from injury. would make a lot of sense in that the rb spends a lot of time defending as a cb in emery's system when on the ball, like juan foyth did for him at villarreal, and obviously young isn't ideal for that currently. would make us more solid.

so on the ball it would be:

    martinez

    konsa carlos mings

    kamara luiz

    buendia ramsey

    bailey watkins digne (moreno)

and in a defensive shape it might be:

    martinez

ramsey konsa carlos mings digne (moreno)

    luiz kamara buendia

    bailey watkins

or just the regular 4-4-2 medium block.

crazy how fluid emery's formations are.

I dont gamble but we have had many gambling firms before and no one objected. We get a massive deal it sounds like and the fans kicking off.

I think it's just the straw that broke the camel's back for many. We finally have super rich owners and still we can't shake off the stench of these scummy companies.

  9. the issue was never the money. gambling companies literally ruin people's lives and prey on the vulnerbale.

i know this has been shown time and time again, but football clubs do not give a shit about their supporters. we would've said yes to the super league too had we been asked, i have absolutely no doubt.
