  1. Absolutely. Nobody knows, Curbishley could be utterly made up, yet people are still slagging Randy off the back of rumours, rumours for **** sake. It's almost like Randy hasn't spent over £100 million since coming here. It's unbelievable. People just want to assume the worst. Randy has made the last 4 years supporting Villa an absolute joy and now look at the 'vipers' out to get him!
  2. No one knows a thing! This thread has become the 'make stuff up and post it' thread. The amount of bashing of the club is frightening though, as it is based on conjecture.
  3. Give him some credit for signing Riise, Hyypia, Henchoz, Barmby, Hamann. He made some poor signings but also some very good ones. Much like MON or ANY OTHER MANAGER!!
  4. This. I hope he managed to sell himself as well as you have sold him here. I think he has one big job left in him, and I would be happy for that job to be Villa and getting us to kick on into the top 4. He has the contacts and experience to be able to let us do this, and is capable of getting us to produce scintilating football. I think Ireland played some of his best football under Sven, not his best when in tandem with Robinho, but some of his best the year before. I'd be happy for Sven to come in and utilise Ireland in his best position. He wuld be on extremely high wages and I think him managing Ivory Coast sort of shows he may be winding down his career a bit. But you are right, he does have a really good record and if he comes out of the interview having satisfied Randy then who am I to say he shouldn't get the job.
  5. The lack of credit Collins gets is unreal! He is a monster at the back. Cuellar hasn't played at CB for us yet and most people want him him to replace one of our most consistently good performers last season. It is a joke, people spouting nonsense and then others listen! Collins is every bit as good as Dunne and has frequently out performed him but because there was no story behind Collin's transfer the papers keep talking about Dunne. Dunne and Collins at CB until one of their legs falls off!
  6. On Friday I would have been delighted but now I want to keep our squad together. We can sell him in January when we have Delph available. I don't think we should be selling anyone at the minute, even Heskey. Edit: too slow. Exactly what I am thinking steve-67
  7. We will not sign anyone. We do not have any glaring holes in our team and we have a little bit of depth. The only players we need will cost 10+ million and if you are going to spend that much money on a player then you want it to be the right one, and only a manager can determine that. I think we will have a season with plenty of highs and lows and next season we will have a better idea of what the new manager wants to do and how he wants to shape the squad.
  8. Add to that a real box to box midfielder and a consistent Albrighton or a Downing of old and things don't look so dreary all of a sudden.
  9. Grew some balls and told some home truths . We got to start getting a bit more ruthless in my opinion and stop being part of a Gentlemans club its dog eat dog sometimes . I have faith in Randy but this is new territory and it's the first time I have started to have doubts . But I maintain ONeil timing is the biggest issue but countering that something should have been bought to a head sooner in my opinion . We will no doubt learn from this . Resigned after Hughes was appointed....! What a favour that was! As in he knew that maybe Randy wanted Hughes, waited till Hughes got a job and then resigned. Yes. I don't rate Hughes. I would have been gutted if we replaced MON with him.

  11. It is a cynical view but very plausible. I am under the impression that our most pressing issue is to get players off the wage bill ASAP. So not bringing in a manager would put a stop to any chance of that happening, I still think that we are trying to get the right man.
  12. Load of rubbish. Nothing will happen until after the Everton match.
  13. I wish we would stop speculating about what happened before we know. I leads people to say pretty nasty things about people that may not deserve it at all. Is it speculation to say MON had full control over transfers, but spent much of it on mediocre players? Or is that just reality? It could be true. I just don't like all this talk about why that has little base. I don't know why I picked your post to respond like that. I will wait to hear what the club says about this rather than what people on this site are specualting about.

  15. I really think we have a really good base squad so any manager coming in would not have to make too many changes just bring in a few players that suit his style a bit more. If we bring in a manager that overhauls the entire squad then we could have a disastrous few years ahead of us. Same here, only 2-3 new players and then a new style of play can do wonders. Maybe now is the best time to get someone like Klinsmann in. We have shown that we have a good defense and then Klinsmann can bring the attacking style that we would all be delighted with. Sort of like Wenger at Arsenal, as he kept that same back fur for as long as he could. I'm sure that the back 4 Wenger inherited taught him something about defending that helped him set up his defense years after they had left.

  17. I dont change my stance, im chuffed when i'm wrong as i have been lots of times. But there will come a time BJ where you will be wrong and i'm worried how it might effect you, someone who is never ever negative about MON. To see him fail might cause you some serious problems. Of course i only joke, but i do believe that he has reached his limit. I understand why you dont believe that as the facts show otherwise however, the nagging concerns are still there for some myself included. No team has been in the top 4 (naff holy grail) without foreign flair and talent, no team from what i remember. No team has been their without a squad a squad that is used. MON is a good manager but he cannot re-invent the wheel unless he changes to incorporate the above. He is too stubborn or limited which ever to change, its why i feel he has reached his peak and only an improvement to 5th/4th and actually a real challenge for 4th (come on we were never in it with out home form) will change my mind. He wont achieve this without changing. I hope i'm wrong. Oh nicer football would be a bonus too That is fair enough that you believe that and you could be right but are you not willing to give MON the chance to show whether he can? He has done a lot for this club in his 4 years and I would like to see us succeed with MON as manager so until he actually shows that he cannot take us any further then I am fully behind him.
  18. If that happens, I predict we'll struggle to score goals again. well, quite possibly. But i'd hope for a fitter carew, a less deployed Hesketh, a better Downing, a Milly in the centre for the whole season, and an improved Alby and Phonso, who should both get more games. That is not a bad thought at all. I would still really like us to sign a player like Ireland, if we can trust Carew to be fit and Albrighton to perform then we really only need 1 player like Ireland. RB is an issue that will need to be addressed but it is not urgent.
  19. If we signed Keane, Ireland and McGeady and managed to keep Milner then I would be very happy.
  20. I hope that is true. Milner is professional enough to move on and put in another blinding season!
  21. I forgot about Shorey. NRC, Young and Davies can still do a job for us and I would prefer if none were sold. Beye, Heskey, Sidwell and Shorey are not good enough for us and are taking too much wages, we improve on those 4 and we have a quality squad! For me, Keane, Richards and Ireland but as has been documented they will also will want big money.
