Think I've hit a bit of a wall with this at the moment and I'm not massively deep into the story.  It's just a bit fiddly in so many ways.  Some side quests for example are really difficult to progress.  You have what you need to progress, you go to the place you need to be, talk to the right person and nothing!  I end up abandoning them.  The same thing seems to happen with the main quest too but I think I'm at a stage where my next steps will lock some of the game.

Maybe I just proceed as is and see where it takes me but at the moment it's not grabbed me as much as I hoped it would.

I always love how this type of game can be played by two people with such a difference in experience. Haven't had any of the issues with quests and been having a blast and making my way to the Warfarer vocation.

It's one of the most 'pure' rpgs I've played since...well DD1 😀 and I love how much freedom and lack of hand holding there is.

Combat is great once you can hire some decent Pawns and get the group synergy working well. I've found that after hitting lvl 30, we can take on most mobs without too much hassle.

The only thing I'm still not ok with is the lack of Portcrystals. I don't mind the travelling but I think 4 or 5 at the start of the game would have made things a little more user friendly without sacrificing difficulty.

    Really good game otherwise.

Somewhat surprised that Civil War is getting such mixed reviews. Saw it at IMAX today and thought it was great. Not perfect by any means but a thoughtful film with some really good set pieces.

88% on RT so generally positive.

Ticket is booked for tomorrow. I like most of Garlands work, he's always interesting.

Next Gen update for console and PC by the end of the month

Can't wait for this. One of my all time favourite games.

Assuming there's a separate trophy list for the ps5 update I'll be going for my second Platinum on it.

I watched 4 episodes of Baby Reindeer on Netflix last night.  A new 6 part mini series based on a true story about a stand up comic and who is stalked by a woman he meets in the pub he works at. That doesn't tell the half of it though. It has everything and is funny at times, distressing and sad with some great acting (the man who wrote it plays himself/the lead role).

I'm going to watch the last two episodes later.

    Really enjoyed this.

Didn't realise until a couple of episodes in that the actor in the main role was the guy that it happened to in real life.

    Scary stuff, but really good.

  5. First episode is fantastic.

As someone who has clocked over 1,000 hours across 3,4 and NV I can confidently say they've nailed the look, feel, the humour and the storytelling of the games, but even more importantly I think even if you know zero about the world I think most will enjoy it.

Hope the quality is maintained for the whole series.

  6. If Ti West manages to land this one, he could have one of the greatest horror trilogies ever on his hands.

    Can't bloody wait.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier in the thread I was expecting the usual soulless cash-grab based on a well know ip.

I was wrong. Its a well crafted piece of work that fits nicely into the world of the Omen.

Takes its time in building up the different story elements and has an unsettling atmosphere which echoes the mood of the original Omen movie in particular.

Special mention for Nell Tiger Free who is terrific in the lead role, and Ralph Ineson who manages to channel Troughtons Father Brennan without it becoming a cheap imitation.

If you like the OG trilogy I reckon you'll enjoy it.

And did they realise you were a DVB?

Yes, but it didnt matter as I didn't work for the club, I worked for a design agency that created the programmes for lots of Football (and Rugby) clubs.

It was my first ever career job and I loved it to be honest, and I soon got used to wearing the hazmat suit whilst working on the SHA bits and pieces ☢️

I think its biggest problem will be the comparisons with Immaculate with both being released in close proximity but prepared to keep an open mind.

To be honest, I think FO will have the advantage(?) of being a well know IP. Immaculate was a terrific horror movie, but I would say it would have been mostly genre fans that would have seen it (which is a shame). I'd imagine FO will attract more of a broadchurch (hehe).

Either way, I'm looking forward to it now - which I definitely didn't think would be the case 🙂

Is there anything I can do to help, or is it very much "give them space, they probably don't want to be asked about it"?

In my own experience, having someone checking in once and awhile and asking me how things were going made a massive positive difference.

I suspect from the trailer it will be another pointless shitshow like the utterly risible Exorcist believer.

Just leave the classics alone you creatively barren ****wits.

    Re. The First Omen...

Hmmm, I may have to eat my words if the first batch of reviews are anything to go by. Currently sitting on 82% on RT.

Tickets booked for Sunday and I'm quietly optimistic it won't be the cloisterfuck I'd feared.
