  1. Despite there being no evidence that he affected the result? I'm pretty sure the Fan Man was a distraction to the officials but that's no cause to make that a NC. Things that were against the rules: 1) Random guy with no credentials sitting at the top table 2) Said random guy talking to the officials 3) Said random guy handling scorecards Any one of them is grounds for a no contest. All 3 of them together, when coupled with the fact Welsh's card (the guy who he was sitting next to, leaning all over and handling the scorecards with) didn't match the others? You really think that that should just be shrugged off with a "can't say he affected the result!"? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Rules were seriously broken, the penalties should come into play, anything but a no contest and boxing is an even bigger joke than I thought it was. You might not like Khan (I don't) but that doesn't mean that the regulations shouldn't be followed. What's the point in having them if they aren't followed through with? Yes it's wrong, and it's something that should certainly be prevented in the future. That doesn't change the fact that Golden Boy accepted in a meeting after the fight after seeing the scorecards involved that the correct decision was announced. So what was the effect of Hatman's actions which warrants revoking Peterson's win? If Hatman had been sitting next to a judge and doing those things I'd be all for taking action, but a supervisor? Not for me. All shall be revealed after the IBF hearing next week anyway. I suspect a rematch will be ordered with the win standing.
  2. I don't think it will happen. It's clear Arum isn't interested, that's probably why Floyd is piping up now. Despite there being no evidence that he affected the result? I'm pretty sure the Fan Man was a distraction to the officials but that's no cause to make that a NC.
  3. One of the problems with this heavyweight division, other than the fact that it's filled with poor fighters, is that the top 10 fighters rarely fight each other. They just pad their records until they get the Klitschko pay check. There are some good fights to be made - if he doesn't win - against the likes of Price and Fury. What I worry about is that if things aren't going his way against Vitali he could be on the end of a nasty beating, so it was encouraging to hear him saying this week that he would rather be pulled out than end up in hospital like Briggs did. I personally think he will do quite well. I'm not saying he's going to win, but I think he will be competitive and has his moments. Which is more than can be said for most recent opponents. Either way, the build up should be fun...
  4. And in the world of fights that are really happening...
  5. No evidence? Except for the fact the WBA scorecard didn't match up with the other scorecards, and the IBF one has amazingly disappeared. I'm sorry but if the guy who he's sitting next to, the WBA official for the fight, admitted that his scorecard didn't match the others, then it's safe to say that he DID have an effect on something. Whether Khan lost the fight in the ring or not is irrelevant to the fact that this guy shouldn't have been there, shouldn't have been talking to ANYONE on that table, and that the rules of the sport state that if ANYONE interferes with the judges or officials during a fight (and from the video it's clear that he did) the fight should be ruled a no contest. I don't like Khan, I think he threw the fight away, but I like to think boxing should have some integrity. And that means doing the right thing and following the rules of the sport, and calling the fight a no contest unless there's somehow some miraculously credible explanation for why an IBF official who wasn't there on official duty, was interfering with the WBA official to the point where the WBA official's card didn't match the others (be that because of the direct actions of this guy, or just from the distraction). Where has this come from about the scorecards not matching up? As far as I can see Khan's camp aren't even claiming. How did Khan throw the fight away? I don't think it should be called a NC. If it is proved that HatMan did some serious wrongdoing and had an effect on the outcome, i.e. the scorecards were announced wrong, then sure. But until that point, why should Peterson lose his titles? It looks like Peterson is going down the Top Rank route anyway, so it's more likely we'll see him fight Pac or Bradley again, than a Khan rematch at this stage. Richard Schaefer was claiming it not long after the fight, (there's plenty of articles saying it from the middle of december) Khan has stated it on twitter, and it's on every article about the controversy. If you haven't seen the claim that the scorecards didn't match up you can't have read much into it. Khan threw the fight away by not fighting. When he fought he won rounds, when he didn't he lost them. He didn't need to push off all the time, he did, he threw the fight away. You say why should Peterson lose his titles, but why shouldn't the rules of the sport be enforced? Boxing is already seen as being corrupt as hell, if the very rules that are meant to ensure the judging of a fight isn't interfered with aren't enforced then surely that just goes to show that it has not intention of shedding that stigma? Sure it might suck for Peterson, but that's just the way it has to be. The rules are there for a reason, and from the looks of it the rules were clearly broken. What's the point of having them if they're not enforced? No contest and a mandatory rematch is the only way to do it. I saw them making claims like that in the week after the fight but nothing recently, such as since Hatman's involvement was spotted. I've tried not to read into it too much because I find the whole farce fairly boring to be honest. I also don't have much trust for the noise coming out of Khan's camp. If it is proved that Hatman had an effect in changing the result of the fight - which seems unlikely - then sure they should ammend the result then, but currently there is no evidence that I can see that his presense changed the result of the fight. There have been far, far bigger injustices in the past year than this. I don't agree on Khan throwing the fight away. He was pushing because he had no answer to Peterson's inside work. If he hadn't pushed him off Lamont would have been on his chest all night and would have won much easier.

  7. He wasn't sitting next to a judge. He was sitting next to a "supervisor". The bloke who transfers the scorecards to the master sheet. There is absolutely no evidence that he had any effect on the result. Regardless, none of this changes the fact that Khan lost the fight in the ring.
  8. Showtime's new show "House of Lies" might be worth a watch judging by the first episode. It's got Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell in. It's a little reminiscent of Californication.
  9. Check out this picture of Nazim Richardson (Bernard Hopkins' trainer) at the Ward-Froch post fight press conference...
  10. Maybe. Khan is the more technically gifted fighter. He is also quicker and has better footwork. I think he could have and should have performed better. I don't want to sound like I'm taking anything away from Peterson, he fought very well and deserves his titles! I disagree. I thought Peterson was technically better. He was more accurate and had more authority to his shots. I think his footwork is better as well which is one of the reasons he could trap Khan on the ropes so easily. Yes, Khan has quick feet but his foot placement is poor which leads to him falling off balance and squaring up on the inside.
  11. I don't think there was a problem with the tactics. It wasn't like Khan wanted to fight on the ropes, he was just forced to by the stronger man. You can't flurry and run all night against an opponent like that.
  12. I thought there was a couple of things on Benn's side they could have included. I would have thought him being hypnotized by Paul McKenna before the fight was worth a mention.
  13. So do you think he had problems before the Benn fight? Why do you say McClellan was to blame? Im not saying i disagree, just wondered. Im not a doctor, but is rapid blinking the sign of brain injury? From what I've read he definitely had problems before the Benn fight. I was reading an article from one of McClellan's sparring partner's (Tarick Salmaci) earlier. He said that they were sparring and after Salmaci landed a jab, McClellan started blinking just like in the Benn fight and they had to stop the sparring. It's not all that surprising given that it's reported he used to drain down from above 180 pounds for his middleweight fights (160lbs) and was then getting in with thunderous punchers like Julian Jackson. The reason 24 hour weigh-ins were introduced in favour of same-day weigh-ins was to give fighters the chance to fully rehydrate. With the focus being on brain fluids. A lot of fighters, like McClellan, just use this as an opportunity to push the boundaries further, to drain themselves of even more weight to give themselves an advantage on fight night. There's still been virtually nothing done to curb this, it's all to common for fighters to come in over a stone above the weight limit on fight night. It's not safe for them to cut that much weight, and it's not safe for the fighters who then face to face men much bigger than themselves. It's only the IBF who are now introducing 10% rehydration limits, which is a step forward. As well as that for McClellan being to blame, he decided to get in the ring with Nigel Benn. He agreed to the fight. Despite all the safety precautions in place, you're still taking blows to the head.
  14. It's very easy to blame the ref, or Johnson, for not stopping it in hindsight but no one was calling for it to be stopped at the time. Jim Watt said he quit, and the US commentators for Showtime thought the same. There was even a doctor commentating as part of the showtime team who I believe agreed. 3 ringside doctors, and none of them took any action. It's worth noting that this wasn't the first time he had started blinking uncontrollably like that. He had done it in his previous fight against Julian Jackson (which he won) and it had happened in sparring sessions leading up to the Benn fight. The way he was pushing his gumshield out of his mouth was unusual, but so was the frenetic pace of the fight. For me there is one person to blame for what happened that night, Gerald McClellan.
  15. People clearly do enjoy watching Boxing. 3 million people tuned in to watch 2 fairly unknown fighters in a British title fight in July. Not to mention the 20 million who watched Barry McGuigan back in the day. Why they enjoy it is a different matter, but to boil it down to "two people smashing each others faces in" is silly. Is Football '22 blokes trying to kick the ball in the opposite goal?', not quite. It's recognized that boxing saves a lot more lives than it ends. The sport today is actually very safe, a lot of fans actually complain that the sport has became too safe with the amount of premature stoppages we see today. To make a comparison, a lot more people die from showjumping than Boxing every year.
  16. You mean by flying him back to the States against the doctors wishes? Yeah, apparently most of the damage done to McClellan, in terms of sight and hearing, was done when he relapsed in the States.
  17. I hope they show McClellan for what he was really like as a person before the fight. As for Lisa and her "How can he sleep at night?", I'd ask her the same thing. How can she sleep at night knowing that it's her fault that Gerald is as bad as he is now. Don King did donate $25k a few years ago to be fair. I think he had robbed McClellan of most of his money before the fight as well, in typical King style. What's terrible is there has been so little to change this in the years since. It's just plain dangerous for both the cutters, and the fighters who have to face them.
  18. Yeah, Rose boxed brilliantly I thought. Arron was way too reliant on his jab and when he couldn't land it he looked clueless. That card Edwards handed in was a disgrace.
  19. Haha. I think it was only for Margarito's heart that they let it go on that long. Even after the 9th he was desperate to go on. Yeah something doesn't add up there and i have told them as much. The bell rang for the 10th so it goes down as a 10th round stoppage. I think it was officially called as 0:03 into the 10th round. Unlucky.
  20. I'd have let the cheating **** go 15 rounds with that eye personally.
  21. Dereck Chisora robbed out in Finland against Robert Helenius. Anyone watching the Cotto-Margarito rematch tonight?
