Its EXACTLY the same, its all about a player, who ever he is, where ever he's from wanting to better himself be it for money or the opportunity to win trophies or play in a "better" league. ALL of our players and people should know this from past experience, would leave in the blink of an eye if a better offer came along from another club further up the chain, ask the supporters of those selling clubs. Sorry to say, some people have a very simplistic, hopefull, romantic view of football when those days are gone, dead and will NEVER return even if sky desert us and that moronic frog in charge of running europe continues to have his way. Money doesn't talk, it shouts at the top of its voice and whether people like it or not, it doesn't matter, others will listen.

Whats rubbish is saying silly things like "we sell our soul", utter nonsense! Just because a club has a lot of money doesn't mean it has to give up being charitable. It doesn't mean it stops caring about its supporters. All it means is it goes about trying to be a successful club another way, by using its financial clout. I have supported this club since the early sixties and I have NEVER seen this soul you talk of us losing. We have been a business, not a very sucessful one, for many years now, businesses don't have souls. They may be "family run",They may have considerate working practices like Cadbury used to have before the septics took it over but thats all, its NOT a living breathing entity with a heart no matter what romantic spin you put on it. We'll all still moan about the state of food, the price of merchandise and quality of football even if we have an oligarch/rich arab or whatever own us. Its what we do. The only thing we WILL have to worry about is if this person gets bored of his new toy but that has NOTHING to do with losing our "soul". It boils down to one of two things, you either want success or you want to be romantic and live in the 50's or in our case Victorian times when we won the majority of our trophies. In this day and age there is only one way of achieving that. I agree football is broken and I dread it imploding as it will NEVER get better, all that will happen is we will watch football as poor as the jocks have to do now and the likes of sky will be promoting the "new" Brazilian league or African super league and we wil go the way of italian league football or the bundesliga when it comes to sponsorship money and all our good home grown players will be blinded by the cash from those leagues and we'll only see them on tv but no doubt we'll be happy because we'll still have our soul.....

You only have to see the state of Jock football to see what would happen if the bigger clubs did thier own thing, the arrogant way the league clubs treated Rangers will come back to haunt them all with a huge drop in ther revenues from visiting fans and no one wanting to watch such a pissy little league with little to excite, sponsorship is nothing like the Prem. Be careful what you wish for.

I'm sick at just playing at it and barely treading water, I'm sick of people saying they'll be "happy" if we finish 15th. I'm sick of bending over and taking it in the pooper everytime a "bigger" club comes along to take our best players, I'm sick of barely being mentioned on sports programmes unless its to be negative. I want to WIN trophies and if the only way nowadays is to throw 100 million, 200 million at it so be it, its not my money! It'll still be Aston Villa football club, we'll still play in claret and blue and we'll still have our history with hopefully more to add to it. its the way of the world now, pay for success or be a NOBODY with the occasional fluke win in a cup. I'm sick of my club being football nobodies. I went to my first game in 1963 and since then we've won a few trophies and I LOVED it! It felt GREAT! I've been in a packed Villa Park with 50 odd thousand baying Villans screaming my club on. I want to do it again and if it means we buy success and dump on the rest of the footballing world so be it, I could care less about being liked by other clubs and thier supporters, they'd all do the same in a heartbeat. Its all fine and dandy having scruples in the business of football just tell me what it wins you, respect? You'll get respect when you win your third title in three years and second European cup!

Again on twitter, villa_lobby, dunno how reliable or not he is, has stated that PL has enquired with Bordeaux about thier player gouffran and that Bordeaux are amenable to offers, don't know anything about him except that her's allergic to grass!!! How the bleeding hell does that work then? Wonder if Ivanhoe had the same afliction?

No, it very much depends on what HIS financial priorities/necessities are, NOTHING more. His head can be where the hell it wants, what HAS to happen is entirely another matter.

If any of those actually are the case, the least we can do is inform the player and the club, the poor sod needs to know where he's playing and I guess the club would like to know if they have to get a replacement and what money they have at thier disposal. We wouldn't want to be treated this way. We complain about other clubs behaving in an amateurish way, THIS doesn't seem very professional on our part.

What is it with the vitriol towards people who post stuff on here from twitter? People like JulieB post stuff that she hears and passes it on, no one asks you to believe that its bloody gospel, as adults you should take it all with a pinch of salt until you see them on the pitch, blah blah. Our club isn't exactly renown for doing its business in public so if you don't like whats posted, either 1) don't bother reading it at all or 2) treat it for what it is, SPECULATION and stop shooting the messenger.
