Can’t see Spurs signing him and Bentacur. Man UTD are apparently after Rice.

Honestly can’t see that happening. I’d hate to see him get relegated with Newcastle. Targett is still a decent player and I rather we kept him to challenge Digne. Plus I don’t think Hickey is ready for Premier League football just yet.

I really hope we’re not done yet. Defensive midfield is still massive problem. It needs sorting now in this window if we have any ambition of pushing for a top 7/8/9 finish this season.

Hopefully we’ll make another approach. The Bentancur deal seems more unlikely now that Spurs are apparently in the mix and Juve’s asking price has suddenly jumped from £16m to £30m. Bissouma is less of a risk, having already proved his Premier League pedigree.

Welcome Calum! Seemingly out of nowhere. I remember him being very good at Southampton before moving to Arsenal. Hopefully he can find his form again. I can’t remember but was he once in the England squad with Gerrard?

Every time I’ve seen Bissouma play, he has been absolutely brilliant and completely dominant in midfield. Exactly the type of player we need. Bentacur is a decent player, however he can’t impose himself on a game in the same way that Bissouma does. Bentacur’s playing style is actually very similar to that of Sanson’s IMO.

Why fanny about offering Brighton £25m, everybody knows he’s worth more and Brighton are never going to except such a low offer. I actually think it makes the club look like amateurs, just pay the £40m they want and just get it done. I don’t think Bentacur is anywhere near as good or consistent as Bissouma

Out of all the central midfielders we’ve been liked with so far, this guy definitely wouldn’t be my first choice.

No disrespect to Targett, because I actually rate him but this deal needs to happen ASAP.

Time to move on Anwar. He’s not match fit and clearly struggled when he came on. He needs consistent game time, which he’s not going to get under the current manager and especially given Cotinho’s arrival. The truth is, he simply doesn’t have a future at VP that became fairly obvious once Smith left. He’s surplus to requirements and I’ll be absolutely staggered if he doesn’t move on, either now or in the summer.

Decent performance, poor result. Definitely positives to take from the game. -
Digne’s a real quality player. I do rate Targett, however he’s been out of form and has really struggled this season. Hopefully Digne coming in stabilises that left hand side.
