Those prediction percentages swing massively with every result at this stage of the season. If Chelsea beat us and Spurs beat Arsenal, which is not implausible, that 80/20 would probably flip back in Spurs' favour.

Yeah they are not a million miles away from meaningless. England was 79% or something likely to get 5th and then it swung hugely based on results.

  2. Just realised that Matty Cash (unbelievably) has played the 6th minutes for us this season.

Outside of Martinez, Luiz, , Watkins, McGinn and Konsa who have played almost every game  the rest of the squad through one reason or another has had pretty good rotation.

Should hopefully stand us in good stead for the run in.

Torn. Want Arsenal to win to help us out but also want our/Emery’s win against them to completely unravel their season

As unlikeable as Arteta is Dortmund and Munich losing would go a long way towards relieving us of a huge amount of pressure.

We are just as bad, our stadium emptied when Spurs dicked us.

Our stadium empties when we are chasing a last minute winner or hanging on to a narrow lead.

At Brentford it’s 3-3 with 7 mins added time. At 85 minutes people are streaming out, guy next to me says he can’t believe people are leaving now. 90 mins comes up and then he gets up and leaves!

I get the traffic is bad but who cares about an extra 20 mins at home.

Anyone else notice a pattern with Youri?

After an injury break, it seems to take him alot of games to get back to his best, but once he is there he is peak.

Just hope he can stay fit now and ride the momentum till end of season.

Yeah he's a player with a long ramp to his fitness. Not someone well suited to being a back up player. Good news is whatever happens now we have some form of European football next season so he'll be getting plenty of games for us regardless.

    Don’t forget Unai.

Think this covers period Feb 23 to Feb 24 so Unai was before that.

My guess was Tielemans was a large chunk of this £20m.

  7. He's one where I've really wanted to believe, and wanted it to work for him.

He "nearly" scored in his first 5/6 games and it looked promising.

But these days I've lost the faith - he doesnt look like a footballer let alone a talented one. He works hard but is as likely to give away a foul as make a tackle. When he gets the ball it bounces off him more often than it sticks. Even when he gets it under control he more often than not makes a poor decision. Just looks like a player playing out of his depth.

He clearly has at some point been a decent player and we've seen with the likes of Bailey that players can turn these things around with huge amounts of effort and will.

But right now he's one I'll be happy to see go in the summer.

Making me question my decision to move to Bournemouth in the next few months 😂

A lovely place in general just pick the games you watch in pubs!

  9. I made the huge error of watching Villa vs Utd in my local pub and it was full of Utd fans (in Bournemouth!) the memory of them chanting United United will haunt me for a long time. Never wanted us to beat a team so much.

The joy at the mess they’ve become really is something to savour.

First half especially he was absolutely all over the place. There were a couple of occasions where he literally just got in the way of Dougy.

It was a really poor half of football, the game completely passed him by

Kind of agree with you both. I thought he did get some good tackles in and did just about protect the ball well when he had it. Positionally though he got absolutely schooled by a City side who do this to the best. For large parts of the game it looked like he was playing CB which meant Dougie was all on his own covering huge spaces.

Not an easy place to be making your first PL start in a very long time.

The shortlist internally for player of the season this year is insane really. Bailey, Luiz, Watkins and Konsa in particular are having real stand out seasons.

Konsa's answered everything we asked about him when Mings got injured and then some. He's having a great season.

McGinn has been excellent all season too and without building a spreadsheet to confirm I’d guess Emi Martinez has won us more points on his own than anyone else on the list.

I'd forgotten about that. Wolves spent more time pulling our players' shirts than kicking the ball during that game.

That run by Rogers was excellent though, really impressed with his on-the-ball play.

How Ait Nouri didn’t get booked there I’ll never know.

But who do you mean? Lenglet? If you look at the low end of our salary table, you see lesser quality, apart from Konsa, who seems ridiculously underpaid. Lenglet seemed overpaid. On some days 😉, Youri also. Diaby is hugely important, IMO. So I don't know where the fat is.

    Longer version

    guy is an absolute prick

Question I have is whether he’s always been this way and the media didn’t show it or whether this is a relatively new thing.

I remember at one time he seemed to be an incredibly lighthearted and reasonable guy. Then there was a season (after they’d won the PL I think) where it was a tough time for the team but also him personally (think his father died or something?) and ever since we’ve seen these interviews where he comes across as a grade a tool come through with regularity.

By his own admission the relentless nature of the job has ground him down to the point he needs to quit. So question (for me) is do his personal issues + being mentally ground down explain these outbursts and he will look back in time and cringe or has he always been like this?

Better decision making from Leon and Ollie a couple times and we could be having a different conversation now, about a " Hard fought win " or draw.

I'm not sure I'm buying that Unai got it totally wrong today because it was an even fist half.

Konsa doesn't pass directly to opposition and McGinn doesn't lose his head too we more than have a chance.

Totally agree against the top sides fine lines make all the difference. They were pretty much full strength today and our squad is on the ropes in terms of numbers and fitness and Unai chose a setup to prioritise not losing, at half time it was looking a good decision but first goals are so so often decisive. While I think we could have done more to stop Sarr going through it’s a hell of a cross.

After that we fell apart, we’ve seen it before from this team and there is a bit of naivety I think. They want it so much… for us as fans for the club, for themselves…when we go behind it can lead to gaps and errors. Which meant we were always between a rock and a hard place.

It’s another really painful one to take especially so soon after the Utd game. Be we are still right in the thick of this race and it’s going to go right to the end.

Has to be JJ. We proved this season we can do without him

Knock on to that is whether is going to pay anywhere near what he is worth after a pretty poor season.

I’d just like to take a moment to remember the time, not so long ago, when we had to rely on Jan Bednarak..

Thanks for reading, I’ll be on my way.

His last start for us was against Fulham away which got Gerrard sacked instantaneously. Seems like he did a very good job for us to me.

  18. Rightly getting a lot of plaudits and I’m as worried as everyone else if he will be out for a while.

However just for the sake of treating everyone the same I’ve checked back and it was Pau that lost Awonyi for first goal.

    Poor stuff, naughty Pau.

  19. I said it before but I don’t think he is one of those players who can come in and hit the ground running. He needs consecutive games to get up to the speed. Like Tielemans in that respect.

We are going to need him in this little period so I hope he can get up to speed very very quickly.  Because right now he doesn’t look just a bit slow he is notably a yard slower over 5/10 yards than everyone else on the pitch. He did OK yesterday on the ball but off it him and Lenglet were all over the place. We conceded about 4 guilt edge chances in the middle of the pitch. On another day we had an absolute disaster yesterday which given how much better than them we are would have been criminal.
