  1. I never said you should. You should expect another 9 to 14m in January to be available to spend that would take it to 15 to 20m. Could you accept it then?
  2. I would be looking to get a better return from the transfer market than we are currently getting. The marketing team at Villa Park must have an horrendous task trying to sell corporate tickets/events whilst we are dishing up this immitaion football. The marketing team could start by trying to sell tickets with some incentives, buy a ticket get one half price, buy a ticket get a shirt for £20, instead of just putting "snap up your tickets for villa v Southampton here" at the bottom of every article on the website. Even the ads for the club shop still have our home shirt from 2 years ago on the banner. I wouldn't take the exact same deals as you said but along those lines yea.
  3. If your saying 20m a year net on transfers yes that is the amount I am advocating. DC Jonah - Everton have been buying well and selling well for the last decade hence why they are up there on similar spends. Swansea came up not long ago with a very low base to when they replaced players the ones they were lumbered with on contracts had incredibly low wages in comparison to their new income West Ham have been doing as badly as ourselves over the last few years it is only because they spent a lot more money this season on only a few players that they are suddenly up there lets not forget they have been down twice and lets see where they finish this year. Southampton have been blessed with many academy players of VERY high quality over the last 7 years or so which has allowed them to get back into the league which then gives you the Swansea effect I mentioned above and they finished well last season sold players for loads of money and spent it on the new ones. You have to realise we didn't have a low cost base that is just ending NOW (still got a few of those mega earners like Bent & Given on the books), that we have to look at 3 year accounts when deciding on what to spend, and fans need to accept when we make mistakes as a club we now have to pay for them as a club and not just expect an owner to bail us out as all clubs have expected in the past.
  4. The reason he got a new contract is because he achieved his remit from the owner. This much is obvious.
  5. We break even now spending 15 - 25m a year on transfers depending on wage changes on either end of that scale AFTER this new TV money. When you consider that if this owner or a new owner wanted to spend over that and lose some of their own money they would then need to look at our three year loss which isn't far from 100m so they didn't break UEFA FFP rules. For me this is a crucial matter that fans need to take on board so they know what they should realistically demand from the club. My plan to move forward would all be about revenue stream increases I would start will selling naming rights, putting prices up in line with the average PL cost for a ticket (you get what you pay for) and creating a style of play that is 'Aston Villa' so we can brand ourselves that way much like the Spurs way is pass and move or Barca with Tika Taka. After that I'm out of ideas but I'm not a CEO obviously.
  6. 1 win puts us half way. Then again with the next team we fade sitting second and no Benteke I don't hold much hope.
  7. 50m every season you are over the limit. It's madness to think that is plausible
  8. Not really it was much easier to spend to the top in dougs day and he didn't have FFP either.
  9. We have been spending 15 to 20 million it was only this season we haven't due to players not moving to us it would be 14 with our loan player alone and you can bet that we spend in January for once because of it hence why increasing 15 or 20m a year is 35-40. We can only break even ATM because of losses if we ever want to have a go again
  10. Actually the point doesn't fall apart as that is the extent of our three year losses at the moment so raising spending from 20 to 35 to 40m doesn't fit and we aren't even talking wages just fees here
  11. Ok I am glad you are aware of FFP rules but you clearly have no understanding of the clubs accounts or the motivation to lose money. Its ok to lose a hundred million if it gets you into Europe and your club is worth more and those losses become sustainable if you stay in Europe by virtue of much higher revenue. If you don't get there you lose a shed load of money and if you do get there you get fined shed loads of money the first year, the second year and the third year.
  12. No the 50m was spread over 3 years that was all that changed. Also spending another 15 to 20m is 35 to 40m per season and that doesn't include the wages. Have you even seen the finances? Do you also realise whatever we do today is hamstrung by the losses of the last three years?
  13. If you don't adhere to UEFA rules and spend the limits of PL rules what is the point? You end up spending 3 times as much and getting no return of getting into Europe. If you do get into Europe you then get a 50 million fine spread over 3 years as that is the precedent.
  14. Nik it is all well and good saying that, I said someone else could do better but who would come and would be guaranteed to do better? What I do know is Lambert will keep me in the division with what he has.
  15. All we have to do then is employ the most successful manager of all time & sign some world class players to surround him to just look decent
  16. Players always have up and down games but quality tells. When you are paying half the wages of the average premier league players wage packet (3m a year) it is difficult to even expect average quality. When you are picking up 6 players for 6m when a Tom Cleverly costs you 8m it is also difficult to expect average quality. You then look to the books and break open the FFP rule book to see how it fits and you see that with our three year losses we cant go out and spend many tens of millions on players because of the 3 year loss. In short we are going to have to stick this out a bit longer and generate some more money as a club. Can a new manager to better? Yes of course one could but I would be hard pressed to tell you who would come to the club to work with the same constraints and be guaranteed to do better. Could a new owner do better? Yes again of course but fans need to realise that FFP aint going away and whoever is the owner they need to adhere to it.
  17. He doesn't look like a player we should spend 8m on in January IMO
  18. To spend more than we have been doing over the past few seasons we need to generate more there are rules to be adhered to.
  19. He won't sack lambert until at least 10 games with less than 3 points at this stage
  20. Yep but 5 of them against top 6 sides
  21. The reason we lost this match was the Ref playing in white not Lambert
  22. I said I wouldn't panic until a few games time if results haven't changed and I haven't changed my mind 5 hard games of which we weren't expected to pick up points followed by one we are expected to pick up points but didn't isn't a crisis if your aiming to finish 9th to 15th in this league
  23. Errr Sean ......Benteke? Delph, Guzan and Vlaar are hardly crap either.
  24. The simple answer is the wages we were paying to players that were ageing and length of contract. Generally when we spent on young players under mon we got good value from them in terms of performance and sell on value but where we brought the 27 plus players we did not. Being lumbered with players on those wages on long contracts is what cut the spending. Houlier and lambert have had similar money mon in terms of fees per year but lambert has had to spread it around to have numbers In The squad and low wages comparatively. The average wage of a PL player is 3m a year we don't pay many that ergo we don't have a top ten side.
  25. Nah we just have perspective What an idiotic argument. It's far to early in the season to be using another teams position as a benchmark, especially one as widely accepted to be under-performing as United. Also the majority, possibly all, of the worries are directed at our performances, not current point total, I'm sure you knew that but would have rendered your LOL inducing United line moot wouldn't it. And yeah okay, I also hope Benteke starts smashing anyway all these chances we aren't creating. Too early to judge them but not too early to judge us. Ok
