  1. I feel sorry for football fans too young to remember Italia 90 Never again will there be a World Cup that captures the nation like it did Gazza's Cruyff turn vs Holland A Villa player scoring the winner in the last minute of extra time with a goal like THAT Gazza's tears and losing on pens in the semi finals ... And Nessum Dorma Made me fall in love with football
  2. "Loan players are letting us down" If they hadn't signed Macheda on loan a couple of months ago they'd already be relegated
  3. Only if you take Faulkner, Lambert and Karsa as well
  4. We don't actually know that for a fact yet since nobody has gotten around it to date, everyone who tried had their accounts placed under investigation I read, on here, that PSG have backdated sponsorship. I haven't looked in to how true this is but if there's any truth in it FFP is a joke. They can attempt to do whatever they want, but we can't for sure say it's a joke because none of the accounts under investigation have had final decisions made yet. Nobody, I repeat nobody, has "gotten round" FFP yet They might do, and THEN it'll be a joke, but right now nobody has managed anything, so there's no way of knowing Again, just for clarity, we don't know that they can yet Also we don't know what the punishments will be yet Even club's are found guilty we don't know if they will be excluded or whether they will just hand out warnings and fines
  5. Too early to judge Pulis though. Wait 2 year and see how Palace is doing then Yes but over the last couple of months he's had them consistantly producing performances and results better than Lambert ever has with us and IMO Lamberts had better players to work with
  6. I keep hearing people defending Lambert saying the club was in a mess when he took over or he hasn't had a lot of money to spend or that he can only bring in players on low wages etc Can these people please explain the job Tony Pulis is doing at Palace then??? In a complete mess when he took over from Holloway, hasn't spent a great deal and with a wage structure which must be similar to ours and from what i can see has progressed them more in a few months than Lambert has in over 18 Yes money is important and we couldn't break the top 6 without serious investment but its not everything and Lamberts had over 18 months working on the philosophy and shape of the team with the players everyday on the training ground and we're showing no signs of progress He's doing a poor job
  7. You say things like this all the time but how do you know they'll deduct points??? The rule state theres a number of sanctions ranging from fines up to the possibility of deducting points They could deduct points, they could just dish out fines or they could impose transfer embargos like with barca, no one knows
  8. Been using this tactic for 2 years now and it always seems to work 4132 adf cmf cm cm cm bwm wbk ctr ctr wbk Attacking, short passing, committed I always have a strong physical player as the middle cm and cmf
  9. Another thing people need to understand with regards FFP is that it won't definately be a points deduction, both rules state that a number of sanctions can be imposed, they won't have the balls to deduct points they will just dish out fines which the clubs with rich owners will happily take I believe the biggest mistake Randy Lerner has made since he took over is that he believed that all clubs were going to comply with FFP properly, while everyone else knew clubs would find loopholes and ways round it
  10. Great Appointment, I too cannot understand all the negativity If he keeps the core of mainly British players and adds some young french talent there could be exciting times ahead Off the pitch he'll transform the coaching and scouting setup so Villa are on a par with the sky 4 and other top clubs around europe
  11. Never posted on here before but have read all the rubbish and overreaction from the last few weeks A good appointment, not a brilliant manager but with the options we realistically had in difficult circumstances, a good choice Hope life on here gets a little easier for you now!
  12. I'd be happy with Houllier Jol or Moyes were my choices but i realise they are probably unrealistic at this time I'd rather have Houllier than Sven, Curbs, Zola, Bruce or K Mac
  13. Hitzfeld would be a great appointment Was rumoured to be interested in the Fulham job Would love Jol but can't see him ditching Ajax this close to the start of the season A big appointment for Randy, if it's one from Bradley, Pearce, Curbishley, Southgate or Sven i'll be very disappointed
  14. echoing welfares comments, my opinion of Milner has just gone through the floor IMO he deserves a bigger backlash than Barry, at least with Barry we got 10 years service and he had never moved clubs so probably deserved a new challenge and the chance to earn some money from a move We paid good money for Milner 2 years ago and have turned him from an average prem player to one of the best prem players Is 2 years service enough? I don't think so but i'd love to know what footballers deem good service now, 1 year? 6 months? So much is wrong with football and has been for a few years now, all true fans outside of Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City must be getting fed up with the way the games gone
  15. Carew's being linked to a move to Italy, its on bbc sport and the mirror websites
  16. I was beginning to think i was the only Villa fan who felt like this IMO selling Milner and getting Ireland would be a disaster Selling someone who runs themselves into the ground every game, always gives 110% and strives to improve himself, and replacing them with someone who has previously stated that he doesn't like football and has little interest in the game, he's just good at it!
  17. The club, like the fans, don't want to sell Milner Everything depends on whether Milner is willing to agree a new contract If he is, we will sign him on a long term contract and turn down all offers If he isn't, with 2 years left on his contract, the club have to sell him this summer to maximise amount we will recieve If we wait 12 months we would only get around £15m
  18. I think our initial stance will be that he's not for sale A lot depends on Milner, i think we will only sell if he indicates he wants a move and isn't going to sign a contract extention If that happens, like it did with Barry, we don't really have too many options But we must try and push the price up to around £35m
  19. What i would like to happen Sell - Beye, Shorey, Sidwell, Reo-Coker Buy - Gunter, O'Hara, SWP, Santa Cruz What i think will happen Sell - Beye, Shorey, Sidwell Buy - Clyne, Jenas, Boyd
  20. Friedel - 9 - Only at West Ham was he better than tonight Beye - 8 - Massive improvement Shorey - 7 - His best game for us Davies - 8 - His best game in 2009 Cuellar - 8 - Really solid, got a feeling he's gonna have a good season in his proper position Petrov - 8 - His best game for a while Sidwell - 8 - Looked a lot better in a midfield 3, worked his socks off NRC - 10 - MotM, immense, was everywhere and never stopped running Milner - 8 - Worked extremely hard as always and linked up well with Beye at times Young 8 - Drifted in and out of the game but stayed very cool to score a great pen under pressure Gabby - 7 - Selfless performance as he had to spend the whole game closing down
  21. Thought the only player to come out of today with any credit was James Milner, who never gave up Beye, Shorey, Petrov and Gabby were poor Curtis Davies was absolutely shocking! I feel that MON is a great motivator but unless he improves his track record on buying players it will eventually cost him his job
  22. To the Ronaldo/Ashley Young song He shoots with his left He shoots with his right That boy Fabian Delph Makes Gareth Barry look shite
