  1. Jogging is running, at least in my world! I think the message is distance over time? I don't have anything to measure the distance unless I count my steps. That's why I was wondering if there is any time I should aim for. lamp posts are the most obvious ones mate, not sure the exact distance but either way most boxers use it as a guide as they can also provide a good way of doing and improving interval training. are you near a football pitch? again great for distance work. distance is not so important in running it is usually time. A good indicator is running for at least 30 mins at first then improving the time. although you may slow down as you increase the time (there is no harm in walking during initial training), you are teaching your body to exercise longer, as stated earlier it is passing the mental barrier. Soon your brain will get used to working for an hour or whatever then that is the time to improve distance covered over the set time.
  2. best bet sign up for a 10k cancer research run-great motivation to train. I do about 6 such runs a year and train 3 or 4 times a week. Best advise is to train no matter what the weather, set yourself an agenda and stick to it, this will increase mental stamina which is the only barrier you need to break. Also good to mix up your routes etc, muscles know if they are doing the same routine which is not good and maybe chuck in some sprint work. Have you heard of the Cooper Test? Google it, very good way to measure fitness. Good luck and last bit of advise, get an Ipod and stick on some pantera and Guns N Roses, nothing like seeing the expressions on bystanders faces when they see someone jogging whilst playing the air guitar!!!
  3. Hi General, just a quick one....I am just about to enter the Cancer Reserch 10k Run and wondered if it is something some of the villa players might consider doing? I know the club supports many charities and it cannot support everyone, but businesses like Tesco encourage their staff's cooperation and just wondered if it is something that could be mentioned? Failing that maybe you can get Curtis Davies agent to sponsor me? He seems quite keen on raising money....
  4. if he was any good at scoring (like a striker should be) then he would have come on up front?
  5. was in a bar in thailand, already getting evils and silly comments off these big lumps cos I asked for the villa game while they wanted Liverpool, so when Heskey came on thy were pissing themselves, then after 2 minutes when he fell over they all nearly had heart attacks from laughter...not good. if heskey is the answer.....
  6. Dear General, Firstly Trentvilla asked a very valid question regarding the teams fitness etc quite a few pages ago and I would be interested to read your answer. As a villa supporter travelling from kent I cannot justify the expence on travel and tickets. Our squad has been bare for 3 years now and apart from maybe 3 players has not been greatly improved upon. I am currently travelling but have been a season ticket holder for a few years. My friend has paid for my ticket but I have an option to buy it back when I get back to blighty, but I cant see that happening. This message is no in reflection to recent results, just an ongoing concern that is really boring to us villa fans. Regarding Laursen and Barry, I am pretty sure the management knew before the season finished that they would need replacing, yet the the season and Europa League have already started and we have no replacements, and if we are to believe the press then we really are in trouble. My question is this, 1) Can you understand the frustrations villa fans are subject to giving our record in the transfer market since MON arrived? 2) Why the hell do we only look at domestic based players? Can someone not give Arsenal a call and ask how they do it? Regards, Tx
  7. this is a very good point, how can he improve or develop his game playing alongside a donkey like davies? I rate him and feel he deserves a place, but more importantly he deserves a decent partner.
  8. Stay - but he must get a dressing down from the "powers that be" as his performance in the transfer market is again, shit which is seriously jeopardising our development. He has said for 3 years now about the size of the **** squad but nothing much has been done. Even if Barry stayed and Laursen didn't retire, we would still need decent players to play alongside them. I'm really down at the mo, I know its early days, and its one result but the bigger picture is, its the same old shit when it comes to transfers. Obviously a director of football would not work with mon (or rather the otherway round) but surely a better scouting network or improving links with renowed agents? I ask one question....how many of the top players we were linked with do you actually think we placed bids for?
  9. spot on post, liking that, last year was the best prem in my opinion and i reckon next year will be better, not long now!!!
  10. is being realistic slagging the team off or being negative? I see nothing wrong with what Ricardomeister wrote and he made some valid points, certain teams have been more active in the markets, who knows how that will pan out for them. Briny, would you prefer it is we said we will finish 1st and win 3 cups? If people come on here and say villa are shit, so and so is shit and have no foundation to support it then please jump back on that high horse of yours, until then this forum is for opinions....
  11. Citeh fair one, but have Spurs improved greatly? The level of hot air coming from their manager has increased by 30% on last season. only 30%?? lol alot of friends are spurs supporters and they are pretty confident (I know it happens each year) if you look at their performance back end of the season and swapping crouch for bent has gone down well with them, I do see them as a threat, and despite his hot air Redknapp is a good manager.
  12. I think 7th maybe 8th if we cock up like last year, and its not becuase we are stepping backwards, its because teams like Spurs and Man City have improved greatly from last year, even fulham looked pretty decent last year and the fact (it looks like) they have kept Brede shows they are moving in the right direction. I do really believe a decent cup run is on the cards, would love the kids to kick some ass for us!!
