  1. Looks like he's just coming back from a night out raving in the 90s!
  2. We've invested heavily in our centre backs for this very reason, it's time for them to step up or be given the chance to step up. We've got 2 CL level centre halves waiting to play. We've got other areas of the team that need that sort of depth as a priority.
  3. Digne is a good player, just doesn't have the athleticism needed for Unai. If Unai wants him, I'd trust in that and to be honest it wouldn't take much to improve on Digne in this setup.
  4. I'd guess we are or were waiting on some of our top targets, it really is like Domino's, clubs won't let someone leave until they get their replacement or players waiting on cl level clubs before committing etc., Could see a loan obligation deal for Ferran Torres or Felix on loan being a possibility.
  5. Agreed, and Zaniolo is a world cup winner and his potential is huge, if it works out for us, he's a very exciting player and the only way we can sign players of that quality, rough diamonds with huge potential. Zaniolo would be the most exciting signing for me, and offers something very different to Ollie. I think Emery will see him as a flexible forward option.
  6. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/08/15/aston-villa-verge-signing-nicolo-zaniolo-marcos-acuna/ Percy confirming Zaniolo and possibly Acuna with Digne going to Saudi.
  7. A player Newcastle were very interested in too, before they got Gordon. On loan, this would be a clever pickup, hopefully Zaniolo too, who can play further forward.
  8. 1 in 5 in the pl from left wing, hard working and quick. Add Zaniolo in too and this would be a good loan deal.
  9. Arsenal fan with a bias against Emery, wouldn't read too much into his thoughts, plenty of contradiction in his own posts.
  10. Freak result yesterday, very reminiscent of our 7-2 against Liverpool. We caused them problems and at 2-1 it genuinely could have gone either way, we deserved to lose but I expect we will be back on it next week.
  11. Looks to be an opportune time to start him alongside Pau, and break up the Mings/Konsa partnership due to the unfortunate injury to Ty, and drop Ezri to third choice. We most likely would have persisted with that partnership for quite a while and rightly so due to their form last season. Bring Moreno back in and suddenly we look a whole different proposition in our build up play.
  12. One game. Terrible result, but it really was a game of moments, in the end we deserved to lose, 5-1 flattered them, we crumbled but signs were there that we can score goals. Defensively and tactically though today was a real off day. Win the next 2 and the mood changes hugely, Newcastle are a good side and as strong as anyone at home in this league, but this felt a little like a freak result like the Liverpool 7-2 game.
  13. We will be. Bad day at the office, but hysteria is over the top, awful game but we're better than that scoreline.
  14. Been battered but could and should have scored at least 2/3 goals. Most teams will go here this season and lose, no need to lose the heads over one game.
  15. It happens, but a reality check. Top 10 would be a good achievement with Spurs and Chelsea around too.
  16. Depending on the fee, I'd be inclined to let him go, currently 4th choice on big wages and from the little we've seen from him he looks a bit of a liability, which is not out of character with his performances at Seville. Re-invest in a versatile younger player or promote one of our top prospects to 4th choice. Squad game and all that, but he's one we could afford to let leave as opposed to Digne, who needs to stay for now.
  17. Seems like we may do similar to Ramsay and look to sell with a buy back option, would help with FFP and enable to club to continue to progress. The investment in our academy might just be what helps us stay competitive as even Newcastle despite their wealth are impacted by FFP
  18. What's this? A loan FROM Turkey, they're usually going the other way. Monchi is a genius!
  19. Very impressive in his maturity last night, looks good enough to be involved this season based on his showing last night. Some players just have that natural talent or time on the ball and he looks a step ahead of even Ramsay and Philogene.
  20. We're going to try and move a few on as we're overstocked with players that won't be part of the matchday squad, and then see where that leaves us, but I don't think we'll sign anyone until that happens. I'd expect one more big signing and I think Unai might feel Felix or Ferran Torres might be available on loan at a knock down fee towards the end of the window. As it stands we have 23 first team players, not including Hause, Wesley, Davis or Chambers who all look expendable Then we have young players like: Philogene, A Ramsay, Kaden Young, Revan, Kellyman and Iroegbunam. We need to move another 4/5 on before we add to the squad, Sanson and Traore could go too. Right back stand out as being particularly light for cover.
  21. Would prefer him to be available for every game but in a way the rest and break is probably beneficial ahead of a potentially bug run of games this season. Big season for Jacob and he's already shown under Emery he has the potential to go up another level or two. Will become a very important player for us, if not already, can score goals is powerful and athletic and has great technical ability to carry the ball at speed.
  22. 2 more players at the level of Tielemans, Diaby and Torres and we have a squad full of talent capable of really challenging the top 4. One thing about the team last season and I'd expect this season under Emery, is we have no stand out talisman - just a well drilled team. First time in a long time since we've not had to rely on a Benteke or Grealish type star player. Ferran Torres would be a smart pickup who can arguably plays as well up front as well as out wide. Doku looks exciting but maybe more of a risk and Brennan Johnson may cost too much. Just a strong RB option needed, with a backup GK least pressing but cherry on top.
  23. Giving me Milosevic, Southgate and Draper vibes...
