  1. I liked the idea of a Ron Vlaar chant to "Da do run run" so I made my own version: "He was spotted in Holland by a Villa scout, We love Ron Ron Vlaar, we love Ron Vlaar. Mess with the big man and he’ll knock you out! We love Ron Ron Vlaar, we love Ron Vlaar. Yeah, his dream came true, Now he’s claret and blue, And when he scores a goal, We love Ron Ron Vlaar, we love Ron Vlaar!"
  2. To the tune of "When I was young, I had a dream" .... Alex McLeish, was taking us down, so Randy sacked the useless clown! Now he's gone, it's time to revert, with Randy Lerner & Paul Lambert! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!! ... Paul Lambert!!
  3. General, I do not speak on behalf of everyone, but I do know many who feel the same way as me; this thread is completely pointless at the moment! Villa fans come on here with questions that they want answered but the majority of the time you either can't answer them (because you don't want to be in the press the next morning) or you won't answer them because the club wants to stay silent. It seems pointless and I don't mean to offend you but you come across very arrogant in your posts to those who have serious questions about Randy Lerner or Aston Villa Football Club. We have asked you over and over what Randy Lerner's plan is, but we never get told. We are always mislead with PR spin. at first Randy Lerner came in prepared to splash the cash. However, recently in the past two seasons, he has changed his plan. James Milner was sold & we didn't sign a replacement. Darren Bent came in January for less money than we gained from the Milner sale. So far this summer we have signed a keeper to replace Friedel, but we've also let two more star players go. Fair enough, if a player wants to leave and you get offered the right price then accept it. I get it, that's business. But selling both England wingers for a combined fee that will rise to £40M and announcing we will only sign one replacement for this coming season is beyond suicidal. If you would actually answer the one question that every single Aston Villa would love you (or more specifically, Randy himself!) to answer then the tension would die down, but we just get the usual, "Randy has always backed the manager, so don't question him, McLeish will be backed." All we want to know is, why did Randy Lerner come in with a plan and then stop it, make a U-turn and claim that the club was taking "a new direction to success" without actually telling the fans what the new direction was? From an outsider looking in it looks like Randy Lerner is selling our best assests and stripping down the squad he built up to get his money back. I would have to assume that their is a plan and Randy hasn't changed his mind about Aston Villa but at the moment, I can't see any evidence that we will be moving forward under Randy Lerner when we sell our star players every summer and don't even attempt to replace them. We are aware that Randy Lerner has a new plan for Aston Villa but all we want to know is what this plan is? We don't want to be kept in the dark anymore. If you could answer this question that EVERYBODY wants to hear a response to then morale across the fanbase will improve, but you can't keep us in the dark anymore when you just keep selling every player for big money and spending less money on replacements; we will never, EVER move forward that way. Tottenham know their direction, spending on players, assembling a squad & keeping their star players to mount a title challenge. Arsenal know their direction, to bring through the youth players with young gems that Wenger scouts for across the world. The big 4 know they're direction. Even Everton know they have no money & know they must sell to buy but even they can keep their star players knowing that they can hope for the Top 7 at best. Where as we were told we wanted to get to the Champions League, were spending, almost made it, just missed out and every summer since we've sold star players, spent less than we've earnt in each window and seem content with 9th place. What's happened? What is the plan? I'm not saying I don't like Randy Lerner here, I just want to know what his plan is, because from the fans point of view, it looks like Randy Lerner wants his money back & the longer this goes on without Randy or yourself letting everybody know what our club is planning to do and what targets have been set, then the fans will be more against you each season. You need to tell us now, what is the plan? If you could actually answer the big question that we all want answered then this thread wouldn't be so pointless anymore. I've renewed my season ticket but if you don't answer what Randy's plan is, we have a poor season, finish mid-table, sell more star players in the summer and continue to keep us in the dark then I can tell you now, there would be protests to get you all out of Aston Villa. You can't keep the fans in the dark, all we want to know is what Randy's plan is, what targets have been set for the next few years, what's our new strategy and what are we aiming to achieve in the next 4-5 years? I hope I haven't offended you or said anything disrespectful regarding Randy Lerner, but I've only said what so many are thinking. We want an answer!!!!
  4. General, when do we get our new season ticket packages? I really want to watch so many videos uploaded to AVTV recently and can't because Villa haven't posted them yet. When will we get them? I expected to have it by now Thanks
  5. Welcome back General! The emotions have died down recently and although I'm not happy we chose McLeish, I will give him a chance. I do have one question though. I'm not going toquestion you about transfer targets obviously but we have now sold our star player this summer. The Stewart Downing link has gathered more pace only due to Downing's comments whilst on England duty and so people are assuming that we will sell, it's only natural. But now we have sold Young and have a new manager, will Randy Lerner continue to back his manager in the transfer market like he has previously? Alex McLeish will need a lot of funds to replace Young, Milner (who we still haven't replaced), strengthen what was one of the worst defences in the Premiership last year and IF he does leave, Stewart Downing. It's a simple question, will McLeish be backed in the market like Martin O'Neill and Houllier have been? Or is McLeish talking about the future UEFA financial rulings a clue that Randy wants to stop spending and the manager won't be backed as much as the fans would like to see? Thanks
  6. He said he was a Villa fan, Gardner! Gardner! He then said he's a Small Heath fan, Gardner! Gardner! But now he's took the noses down, he's packed his bags to leave the town! Craigy Gardner lifelong Villa fan! (Couldn't resist now he's leaving them for Sunderland)
  7. Hi General. Every Aston Villa fan knows that yourself, Paul Faulkner & Randy Lerner have the best interests of Aston Villa at heart. But in the last 3 summers now we have gone backwards and sold our best players. Our player of the year is also being heavily linked with Liverpool. That recent Villa summer routine tells us that either Downing will leave for about £20M this summer or £12M the following summer when he enters the last year of his contract. We also saw Darren Bent arrive (which was a fantastic signing!) on a 4 and a half year deal. Why is it that 6 months into that contract us fans are needing to seek assurances from Bent himself that he isn't leaving the club? It's hard to watch this all unfold knowing that you've tried your best and your spending so much money but we can't keep hold of any star players. The main worry I have isn't Downing, it's our future. Can you guarantee that in 3 years time all of the loyal academy products coming through like Albrighton, Bannan, Clark, Lichaj, Delph, Delfouneso, Weimann, Gardner etc will still be here? Or will we be forced into selling these to the "big clubs" like we have with Gareth Barry, James Milner, Ashley Young and (the next one on the list) Stewart Downing? It is horrible for the fans to know that whoever is our player of the year in the 2011/2012 season will most likely be leaving in the summer of 2012 and then if he doesn't, he'll just leave for a smaller transfer fee the following year. Are plans in place to prevent this from happening in the future? Okay you can't stop people having ambitions and wanting to move on to better things, but if in 3 years time we are still in the top 6 and can't progress, will you have our current youth academy products on 3 and 4 year deals? I just don't want to be coming to the end of the 2014/2015 season and Marc Albrighton, Ciaran Clark and Fabian Delph are all in the last year or 2 of their contracts and move on to "bigger clubs" for low transfer fees. Surely the contract lengths of our star players is now priority number one at the club? For example, at the end of this coming season (despite only penning new deals last January) I'm sure yourselves and all of the fans would love to see Marc Albrighton, Ciaran Clark, Fabian Delph, Barry Bannan, Gary Gardner and Eric Lichaj to be penning new 4/5/6 year contracts. It just seems silly that we let so many talented players work away and then try to open contract talks when they have just 2 years left on their contracts and always refuse & move on (because they get tapped up by another club through their agent). Are plans in place for our academy graduates and future graduates to sign longer contracts than the club have previously offered to players? We have a couple of very talented loyal Villa fans in our ranks and I'm sure the likes of Marc Albrighton and Gary Gardner would sign a new 6 year contract tomorrow. Obviously by including clauses saying that their wages will increase bit by bit if they meet certain individual targets in the deal? It would just be foolish to have such a great crop of young players coming through (like we now have) and let them run down their contracts to 2 years remaining because their agents will screw us over and we'll be kicking ourselves again for shelving contract talks for so long and it then being too late.
  8. Has he proved he can bring through academy products? NO! Has he proved he can be successful in the Premier League? NO! Has he proved he can bring attractive football to the English game? NO! Is he liked by Aston Villa fans? NO! After hearing Sky Sports News spoke to a Villa player, was he happy with McLeish? NO! Will Stewart Downing stay if McLeish is made manager? NO! Will Alex McLeish be backed in the transfer market now that Randy Lerner wants the club to be self sustainable? NO! Is he a good enough manager for Aston Villa? NO! Could someone please tell me just exactly why Randy Lerner would be remotely interested in Alex McLeish? The only thing he will do successfully is piss all of us off!! Why Randy Lerner has planned this I do not know!!
  9. Hi General Has Randy Lerner lost the plot? He's making our worst nightmare come true! Not only that he's increased the season ticket prices. If you think you're going to reach the expected sales of season tickets, merchandise, the new kit, match programmes and other products on a match day then you are sadly mistaken! From here on in, due to peopel boycotting Villa Park, Randy Lerner will make a huge loss on Aston Villa FC every season from here on in. It's time for him to cut his losses, sell the club to owner who cares about its fans, stop putting us through misery every single summer and piss off back to America!! YANKS OUT!!! I'll be a supporter of this club for life but whilst you are in charge, you are only going to take us backwards! Wake up and smell the coffee and realise that you are about to make the worst decision that anybody at Aston Villa has ever made!! LEAVE OUR CLUB!!!!
  10. General, I have loved every minute of Randy Lerner being at Aston VIlla, but he is about to commit the ultimate sin! If he sign Alex McLeish from Birmingham City then he has absolutely no right to keep that tattoo on his ankle (if it is really there anyway). He is no fan of Aston Villa and is proving just how much he cares about the fans today. He has thought up our worst possible nightmare, made it a reality and is planning to charge us £560 each to see it!! Your days are numbered, we won't allow you to ruin our club this way and I've had enough if you appoint Alex McLeish as manager. I want Randy Lerner, Alex McLeish, Paul Faulkner and yourself to leave this great club (before you ruin it) and never, EVER, look back!!
  11. I want an answer General. Gareth Barry was our captain, playing fantastic football and entered contract negotiations. Villa told us Randy Lerner was going to do all he could to convince Gareth that his goal could be accomplished with Aston Villa. He left. Randy failed to convince him. James Milner was our star player, he was at centre stage of the 6th biggest club in English football, he was on the brink of becoming an England regular and came within touching distance of the Carling Cup, FA Cup and a Champions League spot. He had the chance to sign a contract to make him Aston Villa's biggest ever paid player and push on. Randy Lerner promised us to convince James to sign a new deal. He rejected the contract and left. Randy failed to convince him. Ashley Young is a top quality player, he has stated time and time again that he wanted to win medals. He told us he was staying and wanted a new deal. The club responded and offered him a new contract. Randy Lerner spoke to him in the contract talks to tell Ashley what Aston Villa's goal are for the time he would be staying at the club. After the talks Ashley Young makes a complete U-turn and stalls on a contract. This summer he is expected to leave Aston Villa. Randy failed to convince someone to stay who wanted to stay at the club anyway. This summer Stewart Downing said that he was staying at Aston Villa even if we got relegated. He wanted to sign a new deal because he felt he "owed" the club after spending (at the time) a club record fee on him (whilst injured with a broken foot). We have turned his career around and got him into the England squad on a regular basis. Two weeks ago he wanted to stay. Since the seasons end he has been in contract negotiations and has no doubt spoken to Randy Lerner. After these talks he has come to the conclusion that he isn't signing a new contract and hints that he is ready to jump to another club. My question is, with every star player we have wanting to sign a new contrcat and then speaking to Randy Lerner, why is it that they are all now making complete U-turns on their decisions and immediately leaving the club? They say they are leaving to win medals and trophies, play Champions League football and win titles. Isn't that what Randy Lerner is trying to make Aston Villa achieve? Then why is it that with two parties both having the same goals, after speaking to one another, all of the top players that we have at Aston Villa are all leaving to achieve those goals elsewhere? If Randy Lerner is to sell Ashley Young and Stewart Downing before the 2012/2013 season begins then I want a new chairman of Aston Villa Football Club. We will get no where in football if Randy Lerner, year after year after year after year keeps selling every valuable asset that has a rival club chasing his signature! It's boring! It's frustrating! It's unambitious and I'm sick of it! What is your response?
  12. General, I'm so frustrated I could really snap! I'm only a student so money is tight as it is but last season I bought my first ever season ticket. Two weeks later (5 days before the season starts) Martin O'Neill and all the management staff leave us in a huge mess! This year, I renewed my season ticket two days ago thinking "surely lightning will not strike twice and I will not be wasting my money." Well despite the manager situation, one thing we were all certain of was that our player of the year (Stewart Downing) was staying at the club and signing a new deal. Villa have publicly stated he is close to signing a new deal, Downing has spoken publicly saying he wants to stay & I actually believed everything that he and the club said. I've bought my ticket thinking everything is starting to fall into place at my club. However, suddenly Stewart Downing is quoted in the press tonight saying he's NOT signing a new deal and wants Champions League football. Do the Aston Villa really think the fans all have "MUGS!" written on our foreheads? Our best player is not signing a new deal and is hinting that he's ready to leave just TWO WEEKS after saying he wanted to stay. What has changed? Who has spoken to him from Villa? Clearly they have done an awful job and are driving him out of the club in a similar fashion to Ashley Young. I want to know what's happened!! Has he been tapped up? Or are Aston Villa planning on selling every top player we have? Gareth Barry, James Milner and now Ashley Young and soon to be the next sale - Stewart Downing! If this is the future of Aston Villa every single summer then please do me a favour, help me cancel my season ticket renewal before it comes in the post and save me my money (that could be put to better use) from having to sit through another year waving goodbye to any star player who plays well for our club for one season. If we are now just a selling club looking to make a small profit on each player then please tell us all so we can stop wasting our time and money! I'm no mug and if Downing really is off then that will be four times in a row our present best player has been sold by this supposedly 'ambitious' club and owner. I can see exactly what is going on and I want to know what the hell Aston Villa are playing at and why you are taking such a boring and unsuccessful route for this great clubs future! Selling every good player only sends us one way, BACKWARDS! (As you have found out this season). Two weeks does not change a players mind from "staying" to going, when in that time our only two match results were wins against Arsenal & Liverpool. Who has spoken to Downing to force him to change his mind about his future and what has been said? I would really love to know! Yet again Aston Villa frustrate all of their fans, keep them in the dark and set them up for a big disappointment! Please reply to me because if we are now officially a selling club for Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham then I would like my money back asap! Seeing Gareth Barry and James Milner break off contract talks and leave was bad enough, but to have Ashley Young do exactly the same has pissed off a lot of people! To hear that Stewart Downing is now doing exactly the same thing is the last straw! If all of these great players are all leaving it does make us wonder, why are they leaving if our club really is ambitious as Randy Lerner, Paul Faulkner and yourself keep making out? Are you simply lieing to us? Because having so many players say that they want Champions League football and then leaving (thinking that they have not a chance in hell of achieving that here) speaks for itself. If our own star players do not believe that this club has what it takes to succeed then what is the point in us backing Aston Villa year after year? Please answer me that.
  13. Hi General, I understand you can't comment on certain topics like Gerard Houllier, transfer targets etc. However, you are Randy Lerner's right hand man. You say that you tell him what the fans message to you so I hope you stay to your word and tell him this from me. This summer Aston Villa are expected to make a statement of intent by doing better than we have done this season, this isn't enough. Next season should start the minute the full time whistle blows on May 22nd against Liverpool. Every single Aston Villa fan should be allowed to walk home from Villa Park, turn on their computers and read a club statement from Randy Lerner himself. This has been the worst season for Aston Villa since the Premier League began and with Houllier possibly leaving, Ashley Young and Stewart Downing expected to leave and the squad fighting with eachother, the management staff and now FA officials, we need Randy Lerner to do his job and sort it out! Two years ago our star player (Gareth Barry) was sold by Randy Lerner. Last summer our star player (James Milner) was sold by Randy Lerner. This summer our star player (Ashley Young) will definately be sold by Randy Lerner. If that isn't bad enough it now seems that our player of the year (Stewart Downing) will also be leaving this summer. I understand that Randy Lerner is not a media person, he will not give regular quotes to the press, but when the season is over could you please ask him to make a club statement to tell all of us: A) Who will be in charge next season Will Ashley Young and Stewart Downing be staying or not? C) Will he be investing in new players this summer? D) What Aston Villa's aim is next season E) What his main intentions are for Aston Villa I say this because although he has done a steady job, he's improved many facilities, he's put a lot of money into the club and backed Houllier brilliantly by standing by him and signed Darren Bent for big money. Those things are all great, but it isn't enough. Randy Lerner needs to understand that with the season ticket prices he's just released, if he expects all of us fans to renew our current season tickets or buy a new season ticket then he needs to give us a reason to do so. We need to hear from him! Making a transfer signing is good but it's not enough to bring the fans to Villa Park. Randy is our chairman and it's his duty to speak to all of us whilst we are in this crisis to show some leadership, to keep the fans here and tell us what his ambitions are. Because no offense to him but with the performances being put in by the squad, with the useless management team he employed and the imminent sale of our star player (for the third summer in a row), he is looking like a spineless man hiding away from the mess he made this year whilst watching his bank balance increase from selling a star player each sumer and letting everything just unfold for us to sit, watch and moan about. I know he isn't that person (although he is doing a bloody good job making himself out to be) but he is not doing himself any favours by hiding away whilst the club has gone through its worst ever Premier League season. I'm bored of it! I want to hear from him just like every single Aston Villa fan! So until Randy Lerner tells us all what his new plan is for Villa (because his original plan has clearly failed), who is in charge of the team next year (I suggest it isn't Gerard Houllier), what our targets for the team and club are next year and what we can expect to see this summer then nobody with two brain cells will consider giving him any money. As you have said, the board take the blame for this shocking year, for me it all lands at Randy's doorstep. He employed Houllier, McAllister and co, signed Stephen Ireland, sold James Milner and let the season unfold as it did. He has spent a large percentage of the season in America whilst we have been here from start to finish, so he is to blame. There are a lot of questions for him to answer! The players are now starting to ask the same questions too so he definately needs to speak up! My question after all of this is simple. On the night of May 22nd, when this season is over, is Randy Lerner planning to make an official statement regarding next season? If not, then why not? Because a statement of intent from Randy is bloody well needed!!!
  14. General, please answer this question. I'm struggling to get my head around something as I can't understand the logic in this. After the West Brom defeat and conceding a goal from yet another set-piece, Gary McAllister repeated something in the press that Gerard Houllier has said previously. He said "we need to practice defending set-pieces this coming pre-season." Now this angered all of us fans because, A) We said this months ago and Houllier refused to change defensive tactics when reporters questioned him on it, & There are games still to play this season that the coaching staff, players and fans know we are going into unprepared defensively. We're an open target! The question I have for you though is simple, with Gary McAllister so insistent that the players need to be re-trained to defend better, why on earth has he taken a day off to play golf in the sunshine at the Belfry? I don't understand the logic in this, the game coming up this weekend against Wigan is crucial to our survival and not only is our manager not with us right now, but our caretaker manager is having a day off to play? Are Aston Villa taking the p***? Not being funny but Aston Villa V Wigan is a big game, one we are all nervous about and currently worrying over, yet the man who is in charge of our club whilst the manager is away seems to not have a care in the world after losing to a local rival. He insisted we weren't good enough defensively and needed improvements and the first thing he's done is play golf? My question is simple; WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??? Surely that day out could have been cancelled? Not sure about Gary McAllister but I consider Aston Villa's survival bid just a little bit more important than a round of golf!! Or am I being crazy? Please get back to me! p.s. I'm a loyal season ticket holder and should we lose this weekend I will boo Gary McAllister out of Villa Park! Edit: Somebody has mentioned that it was a charity event. I respect that and agree with the reasoning to have such an event, but I do not agree that in such a crucial week that Gary McAllister should have attended. Couldn't somebody who is less important to our preperations for this Saturday attend instead? E.g. I'm sure Aston Villa's Club Ambassador Ian Taylor would love to have gone! It appears from a fans point of view that Aston Villa are being lazy & hoping we ride our luck for the last few games. I'm not saying the club definately has but it appears that Aston Villa have currently got their priotrites all wrong.
  15. General, first of all I am glad Houllier is recovering. His health is more important than Villa right now but I would like to know what the plan is for my club. I'm going to be renewing my season ticket but what can I expect in the coming weeks? Is there a deadline for Houllier and Randy to make a decision on Gerard's future? I would hope the come full time against Liverpool we will know if Houllier will be our manager or not next season. If Houllier is to leave then I would expect McAllister to follow suit. Should we need a new manager I would hope that he would be recruited less than 3 weeks after the season otherwise he will miss the majority of the chance to shape his own squad in the transfer window. We all know how vital this summer is and I just hope Randy Lerner is aware that we can't sit around and hope that everything will work out like we did last summer (I've no doubt Randy and Paul had a slight indication Martin O'Neill may have left in the summer). We can't afford to have a repeat of last summer because that almost got Aston Villa relegated! I would just like to know before I pay for another season ticket what the club's plans are? When will we know who our manager is going to be for next season? Also do you expect to announce who the manager will be before the deadline for season ticket renewals is up? This will impact the decision of many as to whether we will buy another season ticket or not so I think out of loyal respect to the fans that we find out as early as possible who will be in charge of next season. I bought my first ever season ticket last summer thinking this year we were going to either crack the top 4 or win a trophy. I'm only 19 years old and I gave £400 to my club, then 5 days later Martin O'Neill left and a week later and my favourite player (James Milner) was sold. Please don't allow a repeat this summer! If Houllier is staying then announce it as soon as you know in a club statement! If he is considering leaving then please give him a deadline to decide (ideally prior to Aston Villa Vs Liverpool on the last day of the season). After the suffering we have all gone through this year with the FA Cup surrender, losing to Birmingham in the Carling Cup, losing to every Midland rival, being in a relegation scrap, having the players put in such awful performances and keep us in the dark when the National Media had a field day making us out to be a laughing stock, I would like to know ASAP what is happening next season. I want to be leaving Villa Park May 22nd knowing if Houllier will be here next season and if not, how long I need to wait to find out if I should renew my season ticket next season. Are deadlines and plans in place to ensure Aston Villa do not fall behind on yet another crucial summer?
