  1. If you're driving I would recommend the Villa Tavern top of Holborn Hill, 15 min walk to ground, free parking and car wash available for £2.50 Spit and sawdust type place but very friendly Disco on Saturday nights if you're staying in Aston after game Nice one. Thanks very much. Just an update for you on our squad. Both Jelavic and Distin are facing late fitness tests as they went off with knocks on Monday, and Moyes is unsure if Mirallas is ready for his debut. If Jelavic doesn't make it then I do worry for our chances as the next in-line is Heskey's heir apparant, Vic Anichebe.
  2. Everton fan in peace here. Looking forward to the game at the weekend, my own prediction is a score draw. You always seem a bit of a bogey team and I can't remember performing to out ability at Villa Park for years. Though obviously the current Villa squad seems a bit of a shadow of the once great team. At least you have a decent manager in Lambert though, I felt really sorry for you being stuck with Mcleish. I've always had a lot of time for Villa so it was sad to see you being dragged down to level of Small Heath. The injustice... Anyway, any recommendations for pubs around/ near the ground?
  3. TalkSport are wrong about stuff every single day of the week. It's not worth paying a blind bit of notice to what they say.
  4. We have a lot of Villa fans coming onto the Everton boards as well at the moment so it works both ways. For me it's a logical way to discuss the situation.
  5. Show me where Everton have made such a statement? Also you keep saying Moyes stated he isn't going, no doubt you'll point me to something he said in your local rag or something old? Things change in football and i think the sooner you realise that the better, McLeish at the end of the season said he IS staying, guess what he's resigned, Mark Hughes said he was staying guess what he resigned too. Now I'm not saying Moyes, god i'm not even saying he'll be our manager but my point is Villa are in contact with Everton as that's what it's all pointing to in my opinion. I don't want to fall out with you guys but you keep spouting the same rubbish and trying to insinuate Villa are inferior or something that Moyes would turn up his nose at an opportunity, I honestly believe Moyes would want a chance to speak with us whether he gets that is another story and he would need a lot of persuading. The statement is in the link I posted. in fairness i have at no point said or insinuated that Villa are in anyway inferior to Everton. We are clubs on very even footing. As i've said elsewhere we both have history, we both have heritage, we both have strong fan bases. There is very little to seperate the teams. I'm not attempting to spout rubbish. People asked for commetns from Moyes, i've just shown some. As I live in Brum Villa have always been a team close to my thoughts and the fact that you're now linked with our manager is why i'm commenting on it. I think that trying to have discusions between fans is vital for actual truthes to come out. on the Everton fan forums I use there are also Villa fans going on so it works both ways. One Villa poster on BK (Joddy, not sure if they're from here) has made for some interesting debate. My main assertion is that Everton and Moyes currently have nothing to respond to. There has been no formal interest spoken about. There has been no firm links. Only rumour. If/When a firm approach is made then i'd expect a retort from the club in some manner, but as nothing appears to have happened yet then I don't see why Everton should need to make a statement or why Moyes should interupt his holiday with his family to respond everytime a rumour spouts off on twitter. On a side note, can anyone tell me why the media are attempting a witch hunt with Villa and calling the job search a "disater" or other stupid over-reactions but nothing is being said about Chelsea's job hunt? Both teams are in the same situation but reading the tabs you'd think that Villa where about to go against the wall. It doesn't make much sense to me.
  6. As I've said before, he said he wasn't interested while Houllier was still in post, which is exactly what you would expect him to say. As far as I'm aware he has made no comment about the Villa vacancy since Houllier left, which is unlike him. Whether this means he is coming to Villa or not is another thing, but his current lack of comment means something other than he is on holiday. If he was definitely out of the running he would have made a statement through EFC for the sake of Everton fans. m.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/21/david-moyes-aston-villa-denial?cat=football&type=article In this interview, yes Pre-GH leaving, he clearly clearly states he is not interested, even if the job became available which everyone knew it was. He goes on to talk about being very happy at Everton despite contstraints. He's said he's not interested in the job once, he doesn't need to say it again.
  7. For what it's worth, RE all the "Moyes/EFC havnt made a statement" comments. Moyes is on holiday at the moment IF he was to make a statement it will be when he returns which is the end of this week (if reports are to be believed). Everton and Moyes have both previously stated that he is not interested/ not available. They can't keep coming out and denying it when there has been no real claims to respond to. If there was actually anything factual to respond to then EFC might but as its all just been internet chatter there is no reason for the club or the manager to say anything they havnt already. Clubs up and down the country will not respond to every new unfounded story. For example there are more spurious rumours of Downing to LFC, do you expect the club to come out and deny it everytime this happens or do you think the initial denial is suffiecient? As Stu The Villain said, I'm not sure of the fascination with Moyes as I can't see how he alone will take you to the next level.

  9. Well the US want him out now, especially after poor form post-WC. Surely you can do better than him though? I've never thought of BB being strong enough for PL, especially a team at your level.
  10. I can't buy into this at all. Our players have left recently for exactly the same reason as yours have. The most high profile player to leave recently was Lescott, who left in exactly the same reasons as Gareth Barry. Pienaar left as he wanted CL football, and go it. We need to sell to buy, we dont need to sell to keep the club afloat. Our finances are a problem but are not the endemic some make them out to be. Everton and Villa are both in the same position where we're stuck under the glass ceiling of the top 4. Players leave our clubs for the same reasons. Either they're greedy or their tired of waiting for our clubs to make the great leap forward. Here's a "rumour" for you. Leighton Baines is going to Arsenal and he is being sold because you need the money as he has years left on his contract. The Arsenal bit is pure conjecture on my behalf but the Baines family will be living in London isn't (Arsenal being the logical choice on the need-Baines-O-meter) I'm not really sure what your getting at here or where this notion that Baines family is moving to London. If you've genuinly got inside info then fair enough. For my money Everton will sell Rodwell this summer to fund our transfers, as well as clearing away the dead wood (That being Yobo, Yakubu and Vaughn, if we could sell Anichebe i'd be delighted as he's beyond woeful). Baines only recently signed a 5 year deal and can;t see him forcing a move anywhere. I do agree with you that Arsenal would seem a logical move for him, as they are in dire need of a decent left back, the only problem i see with Arsenal is that i can't see Wenger wanting to spend the kind of money that Baines would cost. It's hard enough to imagine Wenger spend a large amount on a player, let alone an English player! People may come in for Baines but it will take big money for him to go due to his value to Everton and the ridiculous way that the price of English talent has been inflatted. £20m for Phil Jones? Football really is going mad!
  11. See thats all well and good, except the Phil McNulty piece was based on something from your PR dept, they would say that in even the rumoured circumstances wouldn't they. Not saying he has or he hasnt resigned but a) it was a journalists blog not an article and its not actually inconsistent with the rumour. The Radio Shitty thing, well you might think the rumour started there, it didn't. The rumour also didn't start on an Everton Forum. The "resigned" rumour may have started there but the Moyes to Villa thing has been going days and days and started with people connected with inside Villa (supposedly - definitely started at the Villa end of things though not Everton's). The Echo thing is just a rumour I agree, as the Echo are banned from EFC press conferences anyway, after digging a little too deep into Everton's finances in February. (those will be the financial problems that most Everton fans are doing an emu impression over) Moyes was in Barbados last week, if that's where Phil Neville is I don't know. Kenwright is in the US until today, so incidentally is Randy Lerner. Phil Neville's twitter has said absolutely nothing about Moyes since the rumour started (@fizzer18), he seems to have been more concerned with having a spat with some random twitstalker than anything else Managers always deny interest in jobs when they are under contract and the last time he spoke on the subject his wording wasn't exactly a denial either. "Of course I'd be interested at some point in the future... I'd like to be at a club where I can give something back to the fans..." (paraphrasing) Who knows what will happen, though I do feel your post is written from the perspective of someone who doesn't want to believe the story even if its true(as many on the Villa side want to do the opposite - possibly even me), it's just going to be one of those wait and see days / weeks / months. Whatever happens, happens. This is a consequence of our boards tight lips on such affairs. That's fair enough, and obviously I am of a persuasion that Moyes won't leave, as is my right. And people on here may be of the persuasion that Moyes will join Villa, as is there right. I'll probably stop posting now as some seem to be taking this all the wrong way. Just wanted to try and help out with what i've heard. i live in Birmingham so have alot of time for Villa and go along to Villa park when i'm not at Goodison so thought 'd just try and bridge a divide slightly.

  13. In fairness I have not said that Moyes is too big for you or made any negative comments about your club, at all. These stories may give you "a glimmer of hope" but I personally found it unfair to see people spending money on bets on unfounded and intentinally fabricated rumours. I've been registered with the site for a few years after setting up interviews with some of you a few years ago. Al i was doing was trying to help dispell some nonsense. No you haven't and you don't deserve any abuse for what you have posted. Please feel free to continue to visit and post on the site.
  14. What's next, Santa ain't real? Give it a break. You're spouting rubbish. I think we might need to talk about the Easter Bunny as well...
