I was wondering the same as you. Last year I went to "The York" just outside Angel Station - a nice Nicholsons Pub with decent beer and ok food. Not many football fans though. I'm arriving at 11.30ish so I might head to The York for a few before heading to The Drayton Arms to soak up the atmosphere. Unless anyone has any other pre-match boozer recommendations.....??

Heads-up. I rang for my Everton tickets yesterday afternoon. I would only go to Goodison if I got ‘Paddock’ tickets. I have sat in both Upper and Lower Bullins in previous years and i wasn’t very impressed (restricted views). Anyhow the point I wanted to make is that there is limited Paddock tickets remaining (TO quoted 20 also). So get on the blower if you are contemplating this one. PS – London Midland .com have some cheap train tickets going. £3 singles on fast trains for example.

Heads up. I just spoke with the TO about Fulham tickets as my friends, who only have season ticket history, are eager to get tickets. The lady i spoke to said Villa have took the full allocation and there are 200 tickets remaining. Fingers on the buzzers if it makes it to Friday....

OS confirms that a meeting this Thursday (11th) will verify when our Semi final is to be played (either the 10th or 11th April), but I suspect it will be on the Saturday 10th. Reason being is that the Europa quarter final 2nd leg is scheduled for Thursday 8th April and with the possibility of Fulham’s progression (in both FA & Europa cup) the FA will have to allow them sufficient rest time. Just a thought, however Thursday will confirm things.. On this subject – Does anyone remember what time the semi final’s kicked off last year..? i.e. are they usually 3pm…? UTV…!!!

As mammoth10 points out - pre-match events seem to be the same as last season... I have just rang the usual designated away fan pub – The North Stafford Hotel - and the staff are 99% sure that this will be the pub Villa fans are designated for this fixture. The hotel informed me that the usual drill is – Fans arrive by train, the police escort you from the station to the hotel (which is literally over the road from the station exit), you can drink in the hotel and about 14.00/14.30 the police will start escorting the Villa fans onto coaches which drop fans off within the away end of Britannia. The Hotel informed me this entire operation (policing, coaches etc) is in practice for nearly all away fans with a good rail connection. The coach comes with a charge, I imagine a few quid, but I will certainly be using it. As ‘Wedge’ points out Stoke can be a little intimidating. When you arrive at Britannia the coach will drop you inside a ‘caged’ area - basically a fenced off area by the away fans turnstiles. Sorry I didn’t enquire about procedures after the match. I would recommend ringing the hotel nearer to the time to confirm – 01782 744477. They were very helpful. Hope this helps.. UTV..!! PS – Fingers crossed we will all be back in Silverspoons on the 10th/11th April…

Could anyone please offer train fare advice – travelling from Stafford to Crystal Palace. I live in Stafford and want to travel to this fixture. Limited searching – i.e. the trainline.com – suggests I will have to folk out £50 for my Stafford to Euston return. Advice on trains and prices (i.e. savings) would be appreciated. A few seasons ago I went for pre match beers in a pub close to Goodison on Walton Lane. After looking at Google maps I think it is the pub on the corner of Walton Lane and Tetlow Street. I also remember the bus stopped almost outside of it. Does anyone know the name of this pub…? Also can anyone confirm if it’s still running…? Thanks in advance.
