Sorry to bore you again with positive news as we all love a moan about how shit something is usually but am very hopeful next week I can finally put my first full time job down as a professional footballer!

 

First week at Kidderminster last week and did well in training and then made my debut vs Chasetown at the weekend and scored a hat-trick from the bench in half hour, so that went better than planned!

Could be his year, such strange attributes for the role he has in the team but when he's on form like he was at the end of last year and thus far in pre-season, he can be a huge asset. His quick feet and sharpness have really impressed me in possession and that bodes well, finally showing his quality hopefully and just now needs to stay off the injury table!

I really enjoy midfielders who can drive forward, it can be such a strength on the counter attack and when under the cosh if a player can pick up the ball and burst past someone and open up space or win a free-kick. I don't expect him to score or create that many goals because I think Lambert will push the full backs on like usual and leave Westwood and Delph to sit deeper and cover the counter but when the opportunity arises, I hope he's given the freedom and shows the bravery to try to make something happen like a step over and beat a man to open something up around the opponents final third.

Exciting one for next year anyway. Finally!

but if he's leaving to further his career then he should look at ashley young, gareth barry and james milner all billy big balls thinking leaving villa would make them world class and all three are bit part players and their careers have taken backwatd steps.

Football careers are short, players want to play at the highest level possible as soon as possible, they want to earn as much as possible also. Benteke has been here a year, he has no affiliation to us like us fans, thats football. All you can ask is that while the players have a Villa shirt on they do their part for the club and that he did magnificently.

Contracts are there for the both players and clubs, can't moan at a player for not wanting to 'honour' his contract just like I don't enjoy players like Ireland 'honouring' their deal and staying. Contracts give players security and also clubs. Works both ways. Devastating it's happening this summer when things were looking so rosy but he's an unbelievable talent and will do well wherever he goes I'm sure.

I think it'll be tricky for him. Barça is Messi's team. Messi is in his prime and not going anywhere soon. He also happens to be the greatest player on the planet at the moment and argued by some to be the greatest player ever. Neymar's not just moving to Europe. He's moving into Messi's backyard. All I'll say is 'good luck with that'. Oh and David Villa says Hi.

I always found the David Villa situation strange. He obviously rarely ever played in his natural position through the middle but he was excellent as the wide forward in 2010-11, then come his broken leg at Christmas 2011 but after that the press seemed to have an agenda that Villa and Messi didn't get on? I have no idea but that never seemed true, always had a good relationship on the pitch together? Villa no doubt was terribly underplayed in the second half of the season. so maybe there was something but both always rejected claims and on the pitch worked well. Always found that strange.

As you say though, this Barca team is geared towards Messi, they give him the ball wherever on the pitch both if he drops deep or if he's in front of goal, it's a case of 'find Messi'. I've no doubt actually that Neymar will happily involve himself towards this, he said so himself and said of his admiration for likes of Messi. This is probably for the first time, a test of Messi's ego now, whether he can accept that he's not the only one who players can look too or can do something so special to win a game. It could be the start of something beautiful and I hope it is.

With Moyes gone I think 7th is up for grabs but I think a 8th-12th place finish will be about right. Don't see us struggling at all but not sure we have the quality to really push higher than mid-table sort of area.

Who knows though, keep Benteke and add a few more faces and this team could surprise us.

For some reason Neymar really gives off a vibe that I hate. Seems like he is full off himself, I really want him to flop honestly. Really skillful, that is true but he does seem like a clearing the woods.

His personality seems quite the opposite, handles himself extremely professionally and very modest in his responses to any questions about his ability. Likes to flaunt his stuff on the pitch though, that said he is a brazilian so that's allowed!

Really hope he's here for another year, watching him play this year at times has been just wonderful, best player and most gifted technically I've seen since Barry. His goal vs Chelsea and skill about 10 minutes before that where he bought a ball down from a long kick, flicked it over their full back and just set it off is drool worthy. Only really can improve his consistency of performance but in 2013 even if he didn't have the best of games he was still scoring goals or creating chances. If he picks up where he left off last season, I don't see us finishing outside the top 10.

Well typically they play 1 up front and I think Pedro is a better option and if Villa can recapture his form of 2011 then he maybe too. Neymar got 13 club  goals in 2013 so far, which is a decent total, but the Spanish league is a big step up from the Brazilian league.  

What? Do you know who plays as the central forward for Barcelona can I ask?

I don't see it happening but I'd be really happy to have him back. Gave the great club service so no personal dislike and his move was completely justified. As many have said from a playing point of view, a year or two left in him at a real high level which would see him comfortably in our team. Super footballer, intelligent, good defensively, leadership and will give players like Westwood a chance to learn and grow further.
