I think these top ex-players fall into the trap of demanding the respect off the players that they think they deserve from their playing days, but have done nothing to earn it. They also are egotistical enough to believe their skills on the pitch will automatically transfer off it

We've been picking up loads of points in a tough (was it deemed the toughest out of the top ten teams?) and congested Xmas period. I think we now get a settled and rested team back together and play much better. Genuinely think we'll be in a title race until the last few games. Man city and Liverpool will set the pace and imo we hold on to their coat tails all season

He's cheap because I believe his contract runs out in the summer. I haven't seen him play recently, but always thought he was a useful bench option for Leicester when they were in the prem. If the budget is tight then it had potential to work imo

I'd agree with that. Except they generally get more intimidated the bigger the home crowd which then benefits the "bigger" club

Also, can you imagine this team a year ago running around chasing rainbows and parked cars at the same time and catching neither, individually and collectively devoid of confidence and competence and heading for a relegation scrap - being turned into a possession based, title-chasing team? We look and act like winners, refusing to be beaten, dominating opponents, and playing some of the most composed and brilliant football I've seen from a villa team. Playing man city, Newcastle, Brighton and others off the park. We turn up at villa park to see wins and goals now in place of desperate shit shows. Imagine what it actually takes to make that happen..... Take a bow Villa because what you've done in 13 months is absolutely unreal

Oh as a general point yes. Just didn't really agree if you thought motivation was a reason we lost to Sheffield. For me, our first 11, especially the midfield has a perfect balance to it. When changes are forced, it doesn't work the same.

Agreed. Love Cashy but there is definitely room to improve in this team. I think the competition for his position in terms of Konsa seems to have affected his confidence too. He's good defensively and. Excellent when recovering, but the confidence to do something offensively seems low. I would love it if he could put in a few 9/10 performances in his next games as he deserves it

Personally I think that if we are dominating possession, defending well and creating chances then we are doing our job. Sometimes luck, var etc means you don't get what you deserve but you're going to win more than you lose. I think "motivation" was not something we can improve on imo.
