I commute on the train into Birmingham every day for work. It's shit.
And the Douglas Luiz Train is by far the shittest.
But is the Douglas Luiz train heading to or from work?

No idea about clubs general transfer policies, only when agents I know are specifically dealing with enquiries for their players and even then, enquiries and transfers are a million miles apart in many cases.
In that instance, I know of at least 2 Newcastle players and 1 Chelsea player that could be moving in Jan.
Since one of them has already turned us down before, despite being offered more money, it's unlikely we will be signing him.
I would be surprised if we sign a striker in Jan but it's not impossible.
The summer is a different story though. A lot of summer deals are actually agreed in January as thats when agents are going up and down the country dealing with enquiries, mostly loans, and so they often end up agreeing (off the record) to do the deal in the summer.
This can be down to the selling club wanting far too much money to let a player go mid season, or beacuse the buying club need to balance the books for the current FFP or tax year.

Hopefully we can make enough by qualifying for the CL to be able to keep the best of our players. It makes it so clear how vital qualification for the CL is, in comparison to winning one of the cups (although winning one would increase our status too). It also explains why the club are seeking some unpopular means of increasing our cash flow.
HDE would be loving this talk of income, at a time when we should be able to focus on what we need to do, in order to increase our chances of winning things. What should matter to us, is what is on the field playing in our shirts, but our balance sheet largely determines what happens to us as a football club now.
Decent write up on exactly what the revenue proposition looks like from the CL. This is only after the group stage too, reasonable to assume a team like Villa could comfortably make €50 million from the group stages alone.

Tim lacks the experience to be put in as the CDM role in our side. We need a player ideally the level of Tielemans is as alternative to Luiz for the Kamara competition role

My bad, Crystal Palace!

So much talent but also very frustrating to watch. He loses the ball a lot and not just because he's trying to be progressive. Also his tendency to throw his hands up in the air when something goes wrong is quite annoying. I'd still like to see if Emery can raise his levels like he has for every other player in the squad though. A consistent Buendia in this Villa team would get 15-20 goal involvements per season.
Never go to South America or the Mediterranean, for your own sake.

Kid is 2.5 years younger than JJ playing in a tougher position.
Already hauled ass to win us 3 points against Wolves off his own boot.
When he does play it’s in small bursts off the bench or more or less playing without some big names who’d make him better.
Arguably coulda had 2 goals if not for some decent goalkeeping.
Tough crowd, kids gonna be a jet.

Good player. Will stick a few second half of the season.

We are not going to sign anyone, better than Ollie, in his current form 13 in 21,even if we are in for a striker....They are tucked up, at the other Big Clubs.
But it could be a prudent move to go for someone with strong potential, who has one eye on reaching the heights...and young enough to go for it.
We currently have an impressive record, at Polishing potential, and UE and his backroom team, have worked wonders on that.
Maybe someone, none of us has thought about, could come in and surprise us all .....remember David Platt.....Lightning can strike twice, when you have a conductor on the training ground....pardon the pun.
Someone who’s Hungry Like the Wolf, perhaps?

Life has become so complex and nuanced on VT - ‘Is Villa being in the title race a big shock, moderate shock, or not a shock at all?’
Can’t help but miss the simpler days of is McGinn shit or is he not.

A legitimate joy amongst the injuries, before this season I couldn’t remember a player hitting the ground running as fast as Diaby and now Zaniolo.

Really missed the big man today..
Hope the recovery is going well Ty

Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think Archer is used to being the figurehead of an attack. He played up top with Akpom at Middlesborough and pretty sure there was a target man type player alongside him at Preston.
At Villa he is playing the Watkins role leading the line and maybe that doesnt get the best out of him.
Anyway assuming we bring in another striker I'm happy. Seems to be zero links to strikers though, that is the concerning bit.
Akpom scored loads of goals but often played deeper for boro with archer up front.

Not really, if Emery thought he could cut it at the level we need we wouldn’t be selling. The buy back clause is just good business sense and probably something Monchi has brought into negotiations now he’s taken over and will likely happen for many youth sales.
”without the buy-back-clause we could probably get nearly double the reported twelve million fee, the only reason the fee is as low as the reported twelve million is because of the buy-back” nearly double? You’re having a laugh!
If Emery had any thought about AJ for us, he wouldn’t be leaving!
How much without a buyback then?

Barcelona is desperate to move Torres on, that means that it could be possible to get him on the cheap. It have been reported is that Torres want to stay in Spain, so most likely he would stay and try to fight for his place.
If we sign Torres or Felix it would improve our attack and possible we would score more goals, if that enough to cover over the lack of depth in the GK and RB positions, is maybe questionable.
I see you Birmingham Mail.
Even nailed the typos…

Just finished watching Troy, what is it with adonis looking men getting their achilles f***ed up?
P.S Carlos injury looks fine.

Ok so neither of us can do that because he hasnt played much for us to know for certain however
lets phrase the questIon in a different way. Olsen is 33 and heaton in his playing career is a much better keeper than olsen is. Lets even take 32 or even 31. Heaton was and is the far superior keeper.
Heatons 37 and i bet olsen will be even worse at that age. The guys a nyland mark 2. Always a mistake in him (as per shown in the newcastle game a few games ago)
Continue to support him but dont be complaining on him when he gets his chance and makes mistakes like stevange
Martinez fired a pretty crook pass that first half too.

Nothing but, other than allowing for a bit of humour or exaggeration, just pointing out how poor and limited of a player he is. We don’t need to put up with that standard of player anymore…
Check this out too -
22/23 - 40 apps, 3 goals, 2 assists
21/22 - 40 apps, 1 goal 4 assists
20/21 - 41 apps, 3 goals, 3 assists
No thank you…
Only have to watch him to see how limited he is, not a natural talent, lacks the game intelligence that is needed at this level.
With the “bulk” he is carrying, he’s likely to suffer from some injuries in future too… maybe a bit like Micah Richards…
Good luck to him wherever he ends up, not here please…
“Big lump, headless, brainless oaf…
Utterly devoid of grace, intelligence, elegance”
Remind me not to get on your ‘humorous’ side.

Honestly the prospect of the academy players getting some minutes excites me more than 3 additional signings.
Happy with who we’ve got, not opposed to 1 or 2 more, but the thought of A Ramsey, JPB and Archer getting minutes is cheaper, more exciting and less risky.
If the Donks and Chambers of the world are happy to stick around and play their role to facilitate that, that’s even better.

Commentary on his goal is shit, he didn't arrive at the back post he made a brilliant cut in to the middle leaving the defender for dead, his movement created the goal
How could we possibly expect a professional football broadcaster to know the difference between back post, front post, middle post, last post?

Was very impressed with his power and pace - almost splitting packs of players to emerge with the ball and quickly take ground forward.
Any defensive and fitness question marks will be well and truly rectified by the new Premier League season.
