My brain just said, 'It was Stoke!' (we all have so much useless Villa knowledge) and I checked and I think this is the game:

I'm sure he hit the bar against someone.

I think he's being a bit harsh on himself tbh.

Interesting reading all these impressive marathon times. This is no sales plug, but I'm working for an app at the moment called Run Kaizen. It seems good to me as it provides an accurate race prediction, based on an algorithm and some science that is way above my head, allows you to make a race target time then breaks down the training load you need each week in order to make that target for your specific race. (There's a free trial fyi) I do the blog at the moment among other things so this spiel rolls off the proverbial tongue a little. I'm considering the Madrid marathon in April having only started running properly again in November and I find the training load presented in a simplified form interesting. (Just did a 14k yesterday and average about 25k a week). I'm sharing more than anything. I get no money for their subscribers, but I also find it interesting what more advanced runners think about the app.

Where we all nailing our colours? Then all that's left is arguing about them for the next two years.

Have you seen him play a lot?

I remember this one. The tag line was 'Don't let him take Britain back to the 80s' or something. I was like 'Oh man that sounds good!' Time travel! 80s! Please. Then I learnt about the Tories.
-
To be fair how many of them actually do? Only Wolves' badge is identifiable as involving a wolf. If you didn't know the others then they'd all be a much of a muchness.

I mean even with your dodgy photoshop skills, I am happy to say that this is wonderful. Oh but with actual blue sleeves!

I think the lion needs a bit more space around it. Just a little bit. But yeah that's nice.

I think the layout is a bit different on this one to the leaked one. This looks fine and better. I do tend to agree now that the positioning of the lion isn't great in the leaked one (it was too high and close to the top, which could have been avoided with the removal of the 1874 and lowering of the lion). Tbh, this version looks pretty great. I like it

I was saying this from the start! I've also kind of gone off the badge now. I just wish we'd gone for the gaslamp one. It was there under our noses. We didn't know how good we had it.

Of course it's about my taste. I can only speak for myself, and I think the Heck one is better (but I don't like the colours, drop shadow or the pants lion as I say). I still maintain last year's gaslamp was the best option I've seen.

The hilarious bit of this is when his redesign is a lot worse than the 'new' crest he's critiquing. Yes I dislike the drop shadow and colours, but the redesign in that thread is pants, and it's a lesson in how these things aren't as easy as people think. It's easy to critique, but when you get those ingredients it's difficult to actually nail it.

That's what I've been saying all along. The design isn't bad at all. The colours and the drop shadow are the issue. It looks nice with a good lion that actually stands out with some contrast.

The one on the right would do. The lion needs pushing up a tad though. I wonder if it would be too much claret on the shirt though.

Yeah but come on McGinn doesn't tell the manager to make subs. Not unless someone was injured. That's not his role—Emery's pretty renowned for his interest in managing all the fine points in a game as we all know.
-
There's no universe where John McGinn told Emery to take off Duran.

This is more or less what I was doing yesterday. But I wasn't bothered about the text position. TBH these are all nicer. I think they're decent. Any of these would be good. And sure I prefer the text on top.

Eh. If they think the Lerner v1/2 is better then they're not very good designers! (except for the drop shadow—if their objection is because of that then that's a different matter). And yes that is my opinion!

I get it with Leeds when they had that awful option, but this is just silly (imo of course). Just look at those Cambodia/Phillipines photos above. For 15+ years we've been branded with that yellow/blue crest. Although I hate those colours, there is logic in evolving the brand rather than a complete reboot. What's the sense in a reboot? And there is no way the v2 Lerner crest is better than the new version. No designer on the planet is going to agree with that (except for maybe not liking the drop shadow). If Heck and the club have decided to evolve the Lerner crest then there is sense behind that, and minorities of fans not preferring it on club message boards isn't really relevant. Loads of brand evolutions take time for people to get used to. I live/have been living in Madrid and everyone hated the new Atletico crest to begin with, now the fans like it.

We can't just have one striker. That would be madness.

1) Websites and online overreactions are a poor way of judging this. 'It's not what the fans wanted' is very Brexit. Everyone has their own fantasy version of 'something' perfect in their head, but designing things doesn't work like that. 2) One guy on Twitter? I did some professional work in the branding field and it's nothing like the disaster people are making it out to be. (Emphasis on 'some' admittedly)
