It is odd that anyone who dares to criticise him is jumped on by the usual suspects. The statistics don't mean much to me because the eye test is far more important. I dont trust him at all in big games or against top opposition. It was mistake to start him last night, even with Bailey carrying a knock. Games like that are not for him. His lacklustre performance was inevitable.
Thankfully for Diaby whether or not you trust him our manager does.

Why do the commentators and pundits only look up the laws during the match i.e. yellow cards during the shootout? I want their six figure salaries, for being inept.
What are you inept at???

That was a proper mugging.
No way did we deserve that game.
Oh well...
You've seen the villa now **** off home!
We did though. Lille weren’t that good. We had as much chances as them and Duran could have won it.

So what does this for our coefficient.

Ref saved Lille from 3/4 misses with the yellow card nonsense. He needs to be sacked. Disgusting refereeing. Emi is the King of France.

Villa Spurs 18-Apr-24 Lille (A) 21-Apr-24 Bournemouth (H) 27-Apr-24 Chelsea (H) 28-Apr-24 Arsenal (H) 02-May-24 ECL (H) Chelsea (A) 04-May-24 Brighton (A) 05-May-24 Liverpool (A) 09-May-24 ECL (A) 11-May-24 Burnley (H) 13-May-24 Liverpool (H) 14-May-24 Man City (H) 19-May-24 Palace (A) Sheff Utd (H) 29-May-24 ECL Final If we get to ECL semi finals, then the Brighton game will be moved to 5th.
Looking at the run in, if we can beat Bournemouth and Chelsea, we could be 9 points ahead of Spurs before they even play again, that is massive psychologically.
That’s what I’m banking on - Those 6 points will be crucial for 4th. Spurs will go away and be spursey as per usual if we win those two. Even then we have a good chance if we don’t get two wins.
-
Spurs will crumble if we win the next two league matches.

We were lagging but that performance against The Arse has given me renewed belief that we’ve got plenty left in the tank and that we can get the required performance levels from now to end of season.
McGinn is rested and Luiz will be too. I think we’ll win all 5. Or win 4 and draw one. The only game I’m apprehensive about is the Chelsea one.

I hate Man City - come on Madrid.

This thread is entertaining… I see lots of posters are rattled about the lot down the road and their new 60000 stadium.

The North stand redevelopment is the sweet spot for our ground and fan base imo. 50000 ish is something we’d sell out regularly for years to come. I don’t think we’re a 60000 capacity club except maybe for the really big games.

The look on Unai Emery’s face when Villarreal lost to Liverpool in the semi finals of the Champions League was one of disappointment. He has a desire to win it. He has a desire to win the premier league too. No doubt he wants The UECL as well. There’s no one or the other (CL Qualification or UECL) for us we have to get both.
Our story is different to West Ham’s. Our trajectory is totally different too. Just look at the league table. This isn’t about winning a trophy and going back to mid table or qualifying once for CL and struggling to progress.
It’s about sustaining that success. We are a perfect match. The grand old club and the master tactician with his support group in tow.I’ve said it before - we get 5/6 seasons out of Don Unai we will get close to the title at least once.
Enjoy the ride we’ve been through a lot of chancers and wasters with a brief respite with one of our own.
Don Unai is the real deal.

Villa can reach the Semi's of the UCL next season.
This Dortmund team isn't great all and they did it.If Don Unai is our manager for the next five seasons and we qualify for CL at least 3 times then I think we’ll definitely make Semi’s at least once. Then anything can happen at that stage.

A club like Aston Villa needs CL football AND to win trophies. The manager we have is an expert at both.
