  1. I'm not sure why Torino would agree to that, if they are going to lose their best player and captain you'd think they want some money to replace them no? Loans with an option to buy only really work for fairly specific circumstances, like when a team is trying to offload a player they are struggling to shift, this is not that scenario.
  2. Why would they accept an offer that low? He's their best player and captain, he has at least 2 years left on his contract, he has over 20 caps for Italy and is 25, so about to enter his prime years. Torino are in Europe, and don't have any financial issues that I'm aware of. They've no reason to sell. I don't see any reason why the'yd let him go so cheap, especially to a cash rich Premier League team like ourselves.
  3. My jaw certainly would drop, I think Belotti is a great player, but how much would he cost £50m? More?!
  4. There's a week left of the transfer window, we've signed... I've lost count... lots of players, and by all accounts it looks like we are after one more, we even seem to have a back up plan for that. What an incredible job the guys have done to get us in to this position, it looked a monumental task a few months ago and yet here we are. Bravo.
  5. It's just media nonsense, Wolves signed 11 player for around £100m the season they came up, but nobody mentions them in the same conversation. The difference is they seemed to have a more solid base when they came up and delayed paying some fee's until January or the end of the season. It could go either way, but we won't go down just because we've bought in lots of players and spent lots of money.
  6. He stated in the pod he didn't know who it was, just that it was an ambitious target and Maupay is plan B if it doesn't happen. I can't re-watch now as I'm at work but for those who can...
  7. The podcast was recorded last night and released this morning, would depend on when he last spoke to his source I suppose, but I doubt he'd put it out there unless he was told this information fairly recently. I don't know if I believe it myself to be honest, but I wouldn't be too surprised if there was one last big signing left in us this summer.
  8. I think we'd like to sell quite a few but many are on decent wages and proving difficult to shift, might see a few outgoings loan or otherwise over the next week.
  9. Haven't listened to the whole pod yet but in that section I believe he said Maupay was the plan B if we don't get the 'ambitious' target we are supposedly after. No idea who this ambitious target is though.
  10. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, Godzilla sized meat clackers less so...
  11. Suppose it depends on what you define as a flop, do you blame the player for not giving the manager enough reasons to pick you or do you blame the manager for having blind faith in other players. Either way they were both deemed not good enough for the first team and sold. That's a flop to me.
  12. De Bruyne, played 9 games for Chelsea, was then loaned out and sold, I'd say that's a flop. Salah, 19 games, was then loaned out and sold. Neither really held down a first team place.
  13. I agree, his experience will be very useful. The point I was trying to make is that after a season or maybe two Heaton will be phased in to being back up for a younger keeper, junxs believes it would more like when he's 36 plus.
  14. Salah and De Bruyne would be obvious ones
  15. In my opinion, 33 used to be prime for keepers but the game has now moved on somewhat and that prime age is coming down. For example there were only 3 keepers older than Heaton in the Premier League last season that you could consider first choice: Cech, Foster and Fabianski. Cech lost his place by the end of the season. The game is much quicker now, agility and reaction time are essential. We have different opinions, that's fine
  16. I seem to remember that when the 'press' were saying we bid £4-5m for Heaton, Dyche came out the next day and stated in no uncertain terms that they'd received no bids. I'm not convinced we started the bidding that low.
  17. I think we will, old experienced keeper as back up with younger quality keeper as first choice is an often used model. We can agree to disagree on that though. Stoke wanted way too much by the sounds of it and Butland didn't want to force a move, we've done the right thing and gone elsewhere, he's not the only keeper that could improve us, I'm not disappointed, we were never going to fill every position for the next 10 years in one transfer window, some compromises were always going to be made.
  18. Completely agree, if we stay up and Heaton plays the majority of games that's worth the £8m alone, anything else is bonus, everything he brings in training, the experience, maybe even a solid back up for the last few years of his career.
  19. Unless Smith is actually Tony Pulis in disguise...
  20. I think most people, myself included wanted Butland, but from what we've heard Stoke moved the goalposts and asked for way too much. I don't think we should be held to ransom and clearly neither do the owners, don't be surprised if we are back in for Butland next summer and if Stoke don't go up I imagine the price will be far more reasonable. Heaton is a more than capable stop gap and at a reasonable price, seems like good business to me.
  21. Depends who's on the pitch, Wesley most likely, Grealish, Hourihane possibly, it's a good job Adomah has left after the shoot out incident!
  22. Watching that video tells me that Burnley desperately need a decent left back, everything came down that side...
  23. Regarding the £8m fee, there's a few things that need to be considered: We are buying the captain of a direct rival Homegrown quota has value We are buying a player at his peak rather than potential, it costs a bit more We are paying his value to us, not to Burnley, very much like the Mings Deal I think this is a good deal, he's a good keeper, good positioning, good decision making and a clear leader. I think Butland was first choice, but Stoke have played silly sausages, so we've decided to wait it out and bring in known quality for the meantime, then if Stoke fail to get up we'll grab Butland at a discount price. I think another benefit of the deal is what Heaton will bring in for Jed Steer and the other keepers at the club, training with an experienced and driven guy like Heaton can only help their development.
