  1. Couldn't all of this 'fuss' and paranoia been averted with a simple ' how can I help you officer', VLD.
  2. I was voted into the position of shop steward so that I could represent my less educated colleagues on the track. Of course the knuckle dragging individuals who 'guarded ' senior shop stewards resented my position of someone who wasn't afraid to defend the livelihoods of my friends. I would do the same for you, I can't help myself...., Keep smiling, VLD.
  3. No, you weren't there at all. History should be told honestly don't you think? And no, I didn't spend 38 years there either, who would? VLD.
  4. I think you have beaten me to it me old cocker..... A pity, as people should know how things really were in the 70's in the car industry, Pretending that this is not how things were is not helping anybody to learn from the mistakes from the past, Tara, VLD.
  5. Okay Mere, An example of the 'fine men' who represented their mates on the tracks... At one of my first meetings ( as a shop steward ) to discuss a 'manning' issue in the paint shop I raised my hand to ask for further discussions instead of walking off the job. I was pinned to the wall by two of the Senior Shop Stewards and told that if I didn't shut up that they would 'fill me in'. This was the years before Edwards decided to sort the unions out'. Edwards gave the full time Senior Shop Stewards an ultimatum either to do a proper job on the tracks or leave....they all left.... Hope you enjoyed my history lesson.....I have others ,but time now for my Hot Chocolate.....tat ta.... VLD.
  6. Well Mere me old China, what's your story? If you don't have one then why bother posting?????? REGARDS, VLD.
  7. No it isn't, and if you were there you would know that. I was in the paint shop and worked in the spray booths ( 30 minutes 'on' an hour and a half off). Gilbert was the paint shop manager.....what's your story.......do you have one? VLD. P.S. I could write a bloody book about the car industry , I worked at Rover ( Solihull ), Longbridge and Jaguar ( Browns Lane).

  11. Yes, I know, it's called an 'incentive ' ( to get off 'ones 'bottom and make something of your life...) VLD.
  12. Actually I think 'the country' would like the people who use the railways to pay for them. Seems fair to me..... VLD.
  13. Just because someone says something that doesn't fit your agenda does not mean they are lying. Nice chatting to you again Snowy me old cocker.. P.S. Came 3rd in my Scottish golf tournament so a free holiday in effect, thought you might like to know as I have been away for a week. Keep smiling, VLD.
  14. I was 'around' in those times ( 1970's) I was also a shop steward at the Rover plant at the time. It was bloody frightening, anybody who disagreed with the Senior Shop Steward ( who was pi##ssed every afternoon) was out of a job. Most people would have no idea why they were even on strike, they were just told to go home...... VLD.
  15. You sound bitter, don't be. Work hard, use your brains and you can have all the success we have had.... VLD.
  16. I think you will find young people think they know better , whilst old people know they know better..., Keep smiling, VLD.
  17. I think you will find that 'older' voters have experienced a succession of Labour governments some years ago and have learned from that experience. Fortunately ( for them) younger voters have not had to endure this experience so are unaware of the pitfalls of voting labour. ATB, VLD.
  18. Is it an imposition on our civil liberties? or A very necessary part of modern policing to ensure a reduction in knife crime in particular. VLD.
  19. I'm not 'rich' I'm 'comfortable ' thanks, keep smiling, VLD.
  20. Is it fair to think you and one or two others on here voted for Corbyn? That went well didn't it.... VLD.
