  1. Ha! No chance of that with John Terry, Dean Smith and a few other thoroughly dislikable individuals at your club. You think you’re already up as well!
  2. Popped on here tonight to have a nosey and noticed this thread. Bit obsessed by atmosphere in football and the lack of appreciation of its significance Interesting to read your thoughts on the Villa Park atmosphere. As someone who has lived in the West Midlands for some time now, I have experienced various Second City Derbies both at St Andrew’s and your place. I have also attended non Derby games. I have been really impressed by the atmosphere and had a genuinely wonderful time down there with my mates, some of whom support Villa, on Derby Day. I was at the back of The Holte on Derby day back in November. It was spine tingling at times and everything you want to experience about football, it made you feel alive. It wasn’t even my team playing- you just couldn’t help but get caught up in the euphoria of the situation. To cut to the chase, I have also witnessed a much more sedate, sombre Villa Park with the Holte Lower decidedly sat throughout the game. It feels like a completely different venue on these occasions The key to it all, is being stood up. What is the issue, is it the stewards or general apathy towards creating an atmosphere on a more low key occasion? Inclined to believe that it’s the former. You cannot tell me there is atmosphere when the Holte End stand is sat down. It is a wonderful, spine tingling cathedral of English football that should never been knocked down or significantly altered. It has history, character and atmosphere. My favourite ground after Elland Road which is aesthetically terrible but means an incredible amount to me, and an atmospheric cauldron at times- as I hope it will be in the Gelderd End tomorrow night. Chants-wise, Holte Enders in the Sky is brilliant, My Old Man is amusing and a classic. Can’t say I’m buying into this ‘allez, allez, allez’ but who am I to tell you I don’t like it? Sorry for blabbering on, I may have had a few pints and am getting all daft. Leeds fan in peace, but I thought I could give my two pennies’ worth on a subject I know about as a non partisan neutral
  3. Much like Villa Park, which will have a load of Leeds fans undercover in the home end.
  4. Also pretty baffled by the confidence levels some of you have on here. Shall we just overlook the fact you lot conceded 7 goals in two games? You’re a disaster at the back at times. Such disorganisation is not apparent at the likes of Leeds and Norwich
  5. Hard pill to swallow, but I think it’s just West Midlands clubs that are obsessed with you, that’s the thing. You’re comfortably the biggest side in the region with an absolute classic of a football ground, you’r the logical team to envy. But beyond the West Midlands, you’re relatively insignificant. Now, forgive me if I sound arrogant, but Leeds United are a national obsession. Called scum and hated pretty much wherever we go. There’s a reason why you’ll hear ‘We all hate Leeds Scum’ at grounds up and down the country and not ‘We all hate Villa.’ Just Wolves, Birmingham, Coventry and West Brom who hate you lads, sorry
  6. Should be a cracking game when we head down to Brum on the 23rd. Especially meaningful to me with half my family being Villa. I was down there with my brother for the Blues game. You look very dangerous going forward but a little shaky defensively. Love Alan Hutton, proper bloke and he deserved that goal, though he is questionable at defending. Hopefully you can repeat the atmosphere for the Second City Derby. I love it when the Holte End is all stood up, is always an eyesore for me when I see people sat down in the lower tier if I’m watching a Villa game on the box, as the crowd can generate an incredible racket when everyone’s standing and it looks immense as well. Hopefully it’ll be stood up for the Leeds game? Expect our midfield to double up on Grealish, who I was previously desperate to dislike, having a family who all love him to bits. He’s a quality player, however, and he can be a joy to watch. We’re in terrific form, so it should be a close game. Regrettable kick off time but I’ve heard a near sell out is expected
  7. Hi, I’m a Leeds United fan but my family are all Villa and live in Solihull. Lover of football and film. Don’t like modern football!
