  1. clearly not good enough for Villa then. Just like Digne & Coutinho. mate.
  2. i know double barrel names are "cool" to have these days, ie: to honour both parents or sets of parents etc, but it doesnt scale beyond one persons choice to do it (unless you are nuts). If it became the norm and Emile Smith-Rowe married Wright-Phillips sister, and they had a boy call Fred, Fred would be Fred Smith-Rowe Wright-Philips. Then if Freds daughter (called Maria) married Reece-Moggs son, it would be Maria Smith-Rowe Wright-Phillips Reece-Mogg..........and so on and so on and so on..... Which kinda says to me, that this double barrel stuff is nonsense beyond the initial "double barrelling", unless you want an entry in the Guinness Book of Records......
  3. is Riff Raff 6ft 5in, built like a brick s*** house, tough in the tackle, but also able to pick a pass like prime Messi? If so.....sign Riff Raff up!
  4. Klopp signs till 2026, 4 years left....... All plays in to Gerrard's 5 year plan......

    Matty Cash

tbh, all that tell me, is that we have a poor team overall, which means we are frantically defending a lot. i think there is a reason that players on that list are from teams like Burnley, Brentford etc. Not knocking the fact that Cash clearly helps us defending, but its also interesting that apart from Rice, no players from remotely "top teams" are on that list.
  6. Yeah but m8, Digne isnt good enough for us. Coutinho also, not good enough for us. mate.
  7. i also liked Sailing Zatara: Parents, 2 sons, 2 daughters on a Cat, travelling the world, been going for 5 years!
  8. I have always thought Anthony Hopkins is a sublime actor. The way he delivers his lines/performances etc, puts so many actors to shame.
  9. Statistics says home support does make a difference for a home team overall (ie: looking at a big enough data set). This is born out by the fact, that on average, a teams home form is usually better than its away form, sometimes markedly so. Something I have always wondered, is that at the elite, top level, why should it matter, in theory a team of 11 players should play as well away as at home. I'm not saying I don't understand the mental/energy side of the apparent impact of home support, but I also do sometimes wonder why elite, elite sport people can't overcome that and make crowds effectively null and void in terms of impact on performance. I suppose that's the human nature of it, when tiny percentages impact winning or losing, that bit more adrenalin/energy from a crowd chanting/cheering etc, must make a marginal difference. On the flip side though, a bad crowd can freeze players, regardless of their ability etc.
  10. where is the man city game being shown? Is it available somewhere that doesnt cost 5 million quid?
  11. we are trying to play like liverpool.......
  12. easy solution, put a see through wall/glass walls around the pitch, when the ball is "kicked out of play", it will now hits the glass wall and bounce straight back in to play...... Stop the watch for fouls etc...... 90 minutes guaranteed!!
  13. tbh, i think its fairly clear he is trying to get us playing like Liverpool, to do this he basically required 3 x 6's (kind of like a hybrid 6/8 type - like Kamara, Timmy, etc etc), who are both good defensively and going forward. @TRO also alluded to the Liverpool thing, and the 3 x hybrid 6's in previous posts. We clearly dont have that type of midfield right now which is i think, one of the reasons the tactic just isnt working with our current players, i think of the senior players, only Ramsey is good enough for that midfield 3 right now imo. Timmy also looks that type of player, a player who can be a 6 defensively, but also an 8 if required, and be just as good at both. I can see why Gerrard is going after the Kamara types (if true), the quintessential 6 who is also very good on the ball and is basically a hybrid 6/8 type in reality. I know we arent liverpool, but in the same way Liverpool have the midfield of Tiago, Fabinho, Henderson, or similar, i think Gerrard will want 3 very capable all round midfielders next season, which will actually allow the full backs to get forward and have proper cover behind them, but it will also allow the midfield to be as good going forward (if needed versus lesser opposition), or being a brick defensive wall ahead of the CBs. I think the way Liverpool play is very clever, defensively they have the back 4, plus 3 6's (or hybrid 6/8s) who offer super, super defensive solidity, so the defensive side is strong, but going forward they have the front 3, 2 attacking full backs, and a couple of the midfield 3 also very, very capable going forward, whether Gerrard can implement that effectively here, with players not as good as what Klopp has, who knows. I think, and i could be very wrong, but i think i see what we are trying to do, but we just dont have the players right now to do it effectively. Before anyone jumps on me, im not comparing us to Liverpool perse, or expecting us to be like them, but if you look at Klopp's first season or two, they were a bit of a mess until Kklopp got the players in he wanted to play the system correctly, maybe we are now in that same position (fingers crossed it is that, and not that we have no idea what we are doing). I also wonder if Gerrard likes the Klopp system, but also wants to show he can make that system work (ie: he could continue the Klopp method if he got the job)......so it will play in his favour when the Liverpool job comes up, im not bothered by this at all, as if it works, it will be great, its just a possible observation.
  14. i really hope Forest get promoted via the playoffs (or autos if they are lucky). Tbh tho, i can really see Sheff Utd coming back up through the playoffs, which would be a pity.
  15. its ok, Zaha just works to different rules m8.
  16. i dont think i have ever seen such vitriol against a manager on here, for no real good reason tbh. Gerrard for me, has done some things wrong, some things right, but he will also get the summer window to start to build his own team and will probably get a good chunk of next season at the very least to show what he can, or cant do......., anyone who thinks he will get sacked this season (unless he somehow gets us relegated), is out of their mind. i understand some arent convinced with regard to Gerrard, but some of the comments are just clear agenda's, its pretty sad to see tbh.
  17. i find it quite funny, that a showcase of the best racing car manufacturers in the world in Formula 1 (inc. engine manufacturers etc), ie: Mercedes, Ferrari, McClaren, Aston Martin, Renault, Lotus etc, and the team at the cutting edge is a high sugar energy drinks company. Does nobody see the comical nature in this?, or am i just mad? Its like having thoroughbred horse racing, to showcase the absolute best of breeding and lineage in the horsing world, but the no.1 competitor is actually a glutinous 3ft tall pig which is overshadowing the thoroughbred steeds......
  18. You can prob add Kerr Smith (17), to that list mate, in terms of genuine talent.
  19. good post. I have also thought that Gerrard basically wants to play like Liverpool, or very, very similar, which as you say, kind of needs 3 x 6's (maybe not specific 6's, but defensive players who can also play football, to allow the full backs to kick on, just like Liverpool..... The problem is, as you alluded to, is we dont have suitable players for this, and/or the players just simply arent good enough for it. i think this summer will be really, really critical.......i think we need to really hope Gerrard gets the players in he wants, becuase if we bring in average players, we will just end up with more of the same.
  20. not sure thats called "being on the beach"....ii think thats called "being s***!"....
  21. i have no idea how we could be on the beach yet, if Burnley & Everton got a couple of wins, we would be right in the proverbial....
  22. Everton could be in huge trouble if classic Villa turn up twice versus Burnley.....
