  1. Big fan of Buendia and whilst I can get frustrated when he turns the ball over cheaply, that's the risk/reward factor with him. Our game against Brentford was a perfect example of things not coming off for him, but he was consistently pushing forward and trying to make things happen. He WANTS the ball and will seek it out if he's be out of the play for a while. He's also made some wonderful passes that he not been capitalised on by the receiver, and because those haven't been converted into goals, he gets very little recognition for that work.
  2. Every week I watch the opposition do a better job on corners, set pieces and crosses...WTF does this guy actually do?? The amount of times we have a corner that either doesn't hit a target or is just completely off target is gobsmacking for professional footballers. Seen better Corners at park football in Australia
  3. Could not agree with this more... Buendia offers so much more than Phil. He is ALWAYS moving and putting in short burst runs to receive the ball. ANd when allowed to play his game, has put through some wonderful passes. Unfortunately under Gerrard, there hasn't been any movement for his to be able to create.
  4. I couldn't believ the amount of Arsenal kits I was seeing.... I thought we definitely outnumbered Leeds fans
  5. Attended this game yesterday in my home town of Brisbane and it's a massive dream to see them out here!! had a whole weekens of it - Saturday morning they had a pop up event at a random shopping centre nowhere near where the game was (????), but I went out and Elmo and Peter Withe where both there. Fantastic time chatting to them and getting some pics and autographs. Very poor advertising of it by the club IMO, as hardly anyone knew it was on. I attended and only found out when I got there that the Ex players would be there. No merch there either?? Saturday night we had a great fan night at a pub..hundreds of us there and lots on singing and chats all night. Bloody brilliant time had!!! Peter Withe was there and Ashley Preece also. Sunday GAMEDAY!! Perfect Brisbane winter weather for the day. A few pubs in the stadium district hosted the Villa fans and a great time was had pre-game by all and then it was off to the game. So fantastic to see so many Villa Kits walking around the home city.....it's a massive thing to see when it's so far from the home ground. Brilliant time seeing all the boys on the pitch and to be honest, it didn't matter to me what happended, I was just excited to see them in Australia! Great to get the win and was very excited to see Diego and Kamara out there. A weekend I will never forget!!!
  6. I think it was less than that for the Brisbane game. I was on and in the purchase tickets section right on 1pm and couldn't get mine - I was going for 6 and it declined straight away...tried for 2 and same thing. Got 6 tickets in one the bays along side anyway, so close enough to the supporters section. Super pumped to see them in my home city and hoping we get access to a training session if they put one on too
  7. Was nice to hear commentators on Optus sport acutaslly talking up Jack today and questioning his lack of starts for England. Great game by the team, was pumped watching them dominate the second half
  8. Are the training shirts the same sizing as the jerseys?
  9. I have loved having Pepe as part oft he club. His passion is contagious and he gives everything for the team. Yes, certainly not the best keeper at times, but hius xperience has been invaluable I think and I will miss him
  10. That is very true. I don't believe he has missed a penalty attempt for club or country as a professional player. And he has taken plenty of pressure attempts too, especially in WC qualifiers. I always remind my teenage kids (who love Messi and Kante) that my favourite player is the best in the world at Penalties
  11. So happy to see him playing in this side at the moment. He has been excellent for us over the last few weeks and whilst he is not a starter anymore when everyone is fit and firing, he has stepped up with very little football under his belt and performed admirably. There's very few better in the air than him and he will always give his all for them team. He has been a favourite of mine for a long time and I'm just glad he has been able to redeem himself in some fans eyes after some not so great performances under Bruce at CB. Hopefully he can continue to contribute and finish his Villa career on a high with us going up!
  12. Big kudos to Jedinak who has copped a lot in this season for his performance or lack of (some deservedly). He's played very little football over this season and stepped in when we were under the pump and played well. He's not going to be a regular, but great to see him step up when required
  13. A Star is Born (2018) - Wasn't sure if I'd like this, but went along with the wife and really enjoyed it. Helps that I liked the music (Coopers character's songs were great) and I thought both Cooper and Gaga were great in this. Their chemistry was fantastic and the singing was all recorded live for the film
  14. Great point on the Futsal question. I'm a massive basketball junkie and all my kids play. I have one playing football and another also playing AFL, and it has helped massively in their 360 degree awareness. Both Smith and O'Kelly seem like very genuine and down to earth people.
  15. You've summed it up perfectly. Agree 100% with all points
