Now that was precisely the type of game we'd have been stuffed in before Emery. Southampton very much on the rise at their place, made to suffer but look at the possession and the number of chances we had. What Emery is doing is working,
We were not at our best, but we got 3 points away from home for the third game in a row. He's got 15 points from 7 games with a group of players that a lot of people were saying were rubbish. It's pretty clear we need competition for Bailey, it might actually help Bailey up his game. Same is true for Watkins and seeing as Coutinho has retired mentally it seems we need a proper 10 as well. So that's 3 out of 4 forward positions we need to look at.
Moreno I like a lot, he suits how Emery wants to play down that side perfectly. Konsa and Mings look a great pairing again, Young has been incredible under Emery but we need a young Young now.
Excellent in the middle without either Luiz or Kamara seeming to pull up any trees, first half we bossed the midfield without breaking a sweat. Martinez man of the match though, with a different goalkeeper we lose that by a couple of goals seeing as we didn't take enough of our chances.
15 points from 21 is an astonishing acheivement. It's actually 16 points which is obviously even better

Honestly think think option 1 looks more fearsome and distinctive, round one to similar to other teams, were are Aston Villa we are unique by name and should be visually as well so for me it has to be option 1

The pinstripe macron shirt was their best effort at a home shirt for us imo. Memorable at least.
Which one was this I don't remember

Ha as soon as I saw this post, i wondered would it be about Collins. I've just come from reading a Burnley fans forum about how they hope Kompany can convince him to stay, but he may have a release clause.
Anyway this thread will likely be locked. Maybe better to talk about him in the speculation thread or the Burnley thread
Ha maybe but we can always dream that we started a thread
What a player though could you imagine him beside mings or Carlos

I was thinking as watching ireland tonight I would like Nathan Collins from Burnley play for us, I actually wanted us to sign him when he was stoke but that never happened, realistically would would you like to come to our great club

He's a very talented player.
But to your point about people forgetting the last 10+ years, I think people forget our club's history from before that if I'm honest.
We have a history of overpaying for players whose best years are behind them based on reputation or past form, and it's rarely worked out for us. For every Merson there was a Ginola and a Carbone and a Collymore, etc etc.
I'm not saying he won't be successful for us but I'm concerned that a) his form has dropped off a lot since his first few games, and b) his inclusion is almost always at the expense of Emi Buendia, who deserves to be playing.
I'm sorry but Carbone wasn't a flop as he was only a loan we never actually bought him and he was brilliant when he was here

Don't rule anybody out as some have said players develop at different stages, sure look where Vardy was age 21 and he didn't do to bad in the end

Best single performance I've ever seen is from a little person called Paul McGrath but he wasn't wearing a villa shirt at the time, it was in the world cup 94 v Italy,
My God what a performance he was everywhere,

He was good, but wasn't it rather Coutinho that changed the game?
Believe me I'm not saying Phillippe wasn't important as he clearly was but what I'm saying the system change allowed him to do that as Ings Watkins combo was done

Carney changed the game, not only did he play well the system suited better when we only had one striker on the field, hopefully Ings Watkins experiment is now done

So spurs were the other club if this is true...perhaps we're confident that he'll come to us if we want him? Or perhaps reality will kick in and he'll go to spurs if they're in Europe and we're not next season
So basically spurs offered the same deal as us and phillippe chose us, I can deal with that

My main gripe with Ollie is his greed or lack of vision
Its happened at least 3 times since Gerrard took over where he cuts inside a shoots when there's a player in better position with an easy pass , it's a team game, I don't mind it every now and then but he does every time,
Also if he going to dive learn how to do it, he always goes down now but when he first joined he didn't, it was only after the west ham disallowed goal that he seems to dive at any touch now and the refs aren't buying it

The rules do not specify a duration of time he needs to be in contact with the ball. As per the rules the goal was correctly disallowed
Go read the rule, as per the rule the goal was incorrectly disallowed

I still can’t get over the old passing of the piece of paper before attempting to defend a corner. It just didn’t feel right to me. It actually felt staged as if the players were trying to make a point. Very odd indeed.
For me this is why he has to go , we looked like an amateur team passing a piece of paper, they should know there jobs at set plays before the game,
This can be only a lack of coaching

Time to go sadly
What's unforgivable is we have no style of play
Even Norwich have a style( it might be shit ) but at least you know how they play
What worried last week when Dean said players win matches not systems, this is wholely not true as the best teams in the world have a constant system ( with different players ) and it works,
This is the end my friend

Got to get a chance this season looks class.
Ya definitely how he hasn't got more minutes off the bench really is a mystery

When should this lad get his chance,
Banging in goals every time he plays at the minute

Nice to see the big man back and scoring

Four points from 12… let’s face it it’s probably going to be four from 15… I’d say we are quite close.
Teams are capable of looking great for certain periods of matches. However we still made mistakes which lead to conceding, and we failed to score despite all the attempts. Wins are going to be very few and far between this season.
If Chelsea had put away two more of their attempts on target, making it a 5-0 score line, would people have been happy? I don’t think so.53 minutes ago, Tayls said:Four points from 12… let’s face it it’s probably going to be four from 15… I’d say we are quite close.

In fairness players can change position just look at Antonio at West ham

I disagree with that. Jack gave his all to Villa during his time here. He is a special player and he deserves to play at the highest level. He is 25 years old so probably only got about 6 years left at the top level. He wasn't going to win the silverware he craves or play at the level he craves by staying at Villa. He left and we got 100m for him. We should all be happy and I wish him a very successful career and hope he realises his dreams and he deserves the respect and gratitude of the fans when he returns to Villa Park with City
Honestly couldn't give a shit bout Jack now, hes done the dirty and he never be a legend here because it,
Anyone who is a legend played the prime years here
Jack didn't do this and will always be remembered that way
He his eyes we are not good enough for him
No true villan would make that decision especially when you can see the progress under the new owners
So he can go win some plastic money trophys for city but I think he'll regret it in the end,
He could have been the greatest player to ever play for this club but he chose more money and fame
He a sell out.
