    I know exactly what went through his head. He'd just had a good run at goal which resulted in nothing and he was trying to get his teammates and the crowd going by doing one of his trademark tough but fair tackles. The kind that would make the whole ground cheer and rev the team up. It was just a split second late. So many worse tackles go unpunished every week.

    I completely agree there's no point appealing as they will always just back their referee buddies and he'll just end up with 4 games instead of 3. Just makes me sick that we see worse tackles than that every week that go unpunished and he's facing a 3 game ban for this.

    And if a manager dares to criticise them in any way, it's a touchline ban and a fine. How are they ever going to improve if they aren't even allowed to be criticised?

    Disgusting refereeing as usual. I called it from the first minute when he gave something soft their way. It was quite clear which way the ref wanted the match to go. Yellow all day long. No malice at all. In the however many hundreds of games McGinn has played for us, has he ever intentionally hurt anyone? He was frustrated, hyped up and was a split second late from making a cracking tackle we'd have all applauded. Absolutely nothing more than a yellow. But I suppose when the entire bench jumps up on the pitch like that, it makes the ref react.

    Haven't really been keeping up with the 5th spot rules. Can anybody summarise them? Are we basically hoping English clubs do better than German clubs? When will we know for sure what 5th place gets?

    Proud of the team. We played well and on another day could have scored 5 times. It's easy to forget how far we've come so soon. Just poor finishing on the day cost us, but football has it's ups and downs. We just have to stay behind them. As for the scumbags we played against, I'll try not to say how I really feel about them so I'm not banned from here but I'll just say the day that club gets liquidated will be a very happy day. The referee; I honestly don't think you can be that bad at your job without being corrupt. But as always, they can turn up, do whatever the hell they like and then have nobody to answer to. If anyone dares criticise them, they get a touchline ban. How can they ever improve if they aren't even made to face up to their mistakes?

    My favourite player of the "post-O'Neill" era. Absolutely gutted for him. Couldn't care less about the result. It is impossible to overstate how much we will miss him on and off the pitch. I hope VP shows him how much we love him at the first home game.

    What an unbelievable player and professional he is. You can't not love the man. Think he's got the head on him to be a good manager one day too. Still got plenty to give before then.

Oh and if you have a terrible debut, we'll write you off as useless too. No pressure! Always find it funny how some fans dismiss illnesses like this.

    The worst pain I've ever had in my life was a thorat infection. They can be absolutely horrific.

    These two plus someone like Gallagher and a new manager within the next month or so and I'll have no complaints.

    Let him go. He scores 2 goals from a corner and thinks he's a world beater. Never rated him. I'd happily sell him if we can get a decent replacement in. Only problem is I have no faith we can do that.

    Dendoncker and Gallagher IN. Luiz OUT. Would be absolutely fine with me. But that's just for the midfield. I still think we need a CB and a winger too. Oh and a manager.

    It seems like ever since I made this comment it's gone badly wrong, so I'd just like to completely retract it and see if things now go right instead!

    Dendoncker isn't a great player but he is the kind of player we need in the middle. I actually think he'd do a decent job for us. Moura is a big no. He's the definition of a highlights player. Looks flashy from the outside and has a sexy name but doesn't actually do much. He's also the wrong side of 30 and would be on huge wages. Don't see the point in going for him at all. I'm normally a very positive Villa fan, but something is badly wrong at the minute. This summer window has been a shambles. Something is rotten at the club and I'm not sure what.
