  1. I've been dying to see Davis and Samatta start a game up front together ever since Davis came on against Bournemouth. Samatta is a quality finisher and makes great runs but it's blindingly obvious he gets too isolated and we can't expect him to do it on his own. If we drop the 5 at the back and got to a flat back 4 (fingers crossed) for the rest of the season this should allow us to play a more advanced centre mid or 2 up front. Both of these systems should see Samatta thrive. It NEEDS to be done. Smith, do you hear me?!?
  2. I'm sure there was a vote involved. I distinctly remember being in my sixth form school library using the computers (internet access was rare in those days) to vote.
  3. Same, I've got no problem with the design of the lion in the current badge. My main issue is the colouring. Just look how little claret there actually is in it. It looks awful. I think it would be a massive (and easily achievable) improvement by simply changing the lion from gold to claret or by doing what you say. Either would look better than it does at the moment. It looks so cheaply made and poorly thought out. The way it is at the moment is like, if you were to show it to someone who knows absolutely nothing about football and ask them what colour kit we play in, would they say claret and blue? No.
  4. I was born in the 90's so I've only ever known the shield badge. The circular badge doesn't mean anything special to me. The only reason I'd like to change to the round badge again is purely because I think it looks much better than our current one.
  5. I think he's an absolutely quality finisher. If we can find ways to provide chances for him, he will score. I really do think we are just waiting for some kind of spark that will see us turn things around. Absolutely no reason why we can't win 4 or 5 in a row.
  6. Any chance we can get a petition going to try and get a new badge? I wore my retro 1980 away shirt to Wembley and before I left I held it next to this season's kit and actually took a moment and looked at the two badges side by side. The retro one is a million times better. Just actually look at our current one. There's barely any claret in it. Anyone would think by looking at the badge we play in yellow and blue. I love the round design and the claret lion with gold letters on the retro. It's a thing of beauty. I really think we should try and get a petition going and get it changed to something like the one on the left. Who's with me?
  7. Love the look of that team. Exactly what I would do.
  8. Put Foden in our team and would he be able to carry us like Grealish has been doing for about 12 months with the pressure of being captain of your local team, the pressure of knowing we need to win pretty much every week just to get into the play offs and then win them and then the pressure of trying to keep us up virtually on his own? I think not. One good game in a team of world beaters and now Foden is as good as Grealish? Absolutely bloody ridiculous. If anything Grealish is underrated. Foden isn't even fit to lace Grealish's boots. You do realise that City would have been training for the last week or so totally focused on stopping Grealish and they did because they have a good team? Whereas Foden was given the run of the pitch, whilst playing with world class players. If they swapped sides, do you still think Foden would have outshone Grealish?
  9. Poor doesn't do it justice. They were woeful. Nobody can be that bad at their job...
  10. It's so obvious this needs to happen. I really hope Smith can see it too. I'll be worried if he can't.
  11. I said this after the Tottenham game. I think it is even more apt after today. Yet more evidence. What an absolute disgrace. Great performance from the team though. They must feel so gutted to have lost to a goal which so obviously shouldn't have stood. I'm still fuming.
  12. Definitely. Some of them need a kick up the arse and if they see Super John running around the pitch like a little madman it might make them think they have to up their game too. It will also mean Grealish won't have to do the work of about 6 people any more.
  13. Me too. He'll be so eager to get out there, when he does he'll probably run a marathon in his first game. Cannot wait to see him again.
  14. Also, we've got to drop the 5 at the back and go with 3 in midfield. We get overrun so easily in there it's depressing. Save us super John.
  15. Also, does anyone who went to the game know what the fans on the front row were saying to Hourihane at the end?
  16. Just got back. I'm normally a very positive fan and usually look on the bright side but today was pathetic. Absolutely no desire or fight. If they can't put up a fight today then they don't deserve to play next week. I'd honestly drop half of them after today and play the kids.
  17. Our front 3 are key to this game. They need to pressure them high up the pitch, not let them pass it out of defence and try to force errors. Thankfully I think that style of play suits Samatta down to the ground and I can see him getting a goal or two tomorrow. El Ghazi/Trezeguet need to do the same. Mings should make a massive difference at the back as Engels would be dreadfully caught out by Ings and Long. Nakamba and Luiz need to make an impact on their centre mids too. They need to pressure them and not let them have any time on the ball. This game is very, very winnable. Do we have faith that our players will be up for it though? I really hope so because they need to start standing up and being counted. One positive, whatever the result, is that we'll be one game closer to Super John coming back, which I really believe will be the catalyst to keeping us up. Not only will we have him back, but it will also free up Grealish more as he won't have to do the work of 6 people and teams won't be able to triple mark him any more. UTV
  18. We should have been 3 up in the first 20 mins. Samatta is a massive upgrade on Wesley. Sadly an individual error cost us. Sometimes there's nothing you can do about that. Once McGinn gets back I really believe we'll kick on and stay up.
  19. Referee's and VAR cannot be that incompetent. I'm becoming more and more convinced they are corrupt from top to bottom.
  20. He's awesome. Changed the game and if he was brought on a bit earlier or started the game, we don't lose that. We need to start with him and Samatta up front and Grealish in a free role.
  21. I think he was sent off not just for that foul but for an accumulation of fouls. Was quite obvious Howe put him in the team to kick Grealish all day and quite frankly he got what he deserved.
  22. McGinn would have been perfect for that game. I don't think we can overstate how big a loss he's been. Need him back asap. He's good enough to play with one ankle.
