  1. Not sure how you can compare. We did save for a deposit, but there was little else to spend money on. No mobile phones, no gadgets, no sky subscription, we all drove old tatty cars and went to Wales once a year for a holiday and at 19 years of age I was earning £56 aweek.
  2. I wrote something similar when I was the younger generation . I have worked for 49 years, paid taxes and Ni for 49 years. Yep I reckon I have paid my way
  3. Done and downloaded, I will keep office 365 until payment is due in October, then say thanks but no thanks and use Libre.
  4. @Tegis thank you. The one you use seems ideal for me. I told you I havent a clue. Lol. The one you use is ideal for me. BUT if I down load it, do I still have to keep Microsoft, do I run both, do I delete Microsoft, how would I do that, would I have to copy my files to the new format first
  5. I am now 66 and should have retired in January, but I cant afford too, not if I want to carry on eating etc At the age of 50 I left my first wife, Marriage had been dead for years and I looked elsewhere for TLC. After the divorce I lost the house and half my pension. I moved into a rented house with Sarah (the real Mrs T, married 14 years next month) No money for a deposit and not enough years left for a mortgage We both had debt and paid it all off by me cashing in another pension at 55. Sarah has a recently been diagnosed with S.U.N.C.T.S syndrome and cant work but cant claim. She is also 8 years my junior so cant claim her OAP for quite a while. So we live on my wages. My pensions that are left and OAP would come to around £16,000 and my rent is half of that. This is not a sob story. We do have savings from inheritance to cover a few years and I now claim my OAP as well as my wage and I don't pay N.I now I am 66. I will be saving most of my OAP and going on holiday twice a year. and I have no debt. Which I know is better than most people So the moral is lads. Bang as much as you can into your pension now, oh and don't give it away if you divorce. How long I will go on working for, well who knows. But I don't regret ii for second, I have a fantastic life with Mrs T and have 3 holidays booked this year. You never know when your time is up. I have lost four friends this year of my age group
  6. Gents I need some advice in layman's terms please I brought a lap top about 3 years ago and paid for Microsoft 365 (I think that's what is) I pay about £60 every October I don't really know why I am paying it or if I even need it I have a couple of spread sheets for banking and daily planner, keeping track of birthdays and stuff like that. I use Word if I am composing a speech or a long email to copy and post. I have several files of photos from holidays and stuff I browse the tinternet I have been told about the cloud, but I don't understand it (all I know is that some things have been saved there and I cant see them anymore) My ask is. What will happen if I stop paying ? Should I be making more use of what i am paying for ?
