  1. Gerrard is so nondescript, he's like tactics Tim but with a personality bypass. I could understand all the players being ready to down tools but equally, I can't ever see him improving the mentality of the team either and that's needed addressing for most of the past decade. I hope he proves me wrong but I just feel he's lacking in the fundamentals that every manager needs.
  2. I haven't had an email with the form for today either. I went back to the one for Burnley, re-ticked the options and resubmitted it. So technically I have provided a form and have the Covid pass on my phone ready. So I'm compliant with the rules? Not sure if this is an option for you but it's all I could think of trying as other emails from the club are coming through okay.
  3. I cannot believe what I'm reading on this forum about a car accident on a less than 30 mph urban road. FFS, how many people can claim to have never misjudged a turning or a bend in what are cold, almost freezing conditions? You cannot hit stupid speeds on that stretch of road, in the direction his car was going as it's directly opposite a junction. Not even in that Lambo! The school / playground was empty and we should all be grateful for that but at no point do I believe Hause set out to drive like a "prick". Media again putting our club and players down.. Can we keep some perspective and remember that the we're clapping on 6 minutes tomorrow for a lad who was killed by a right pair of words removed, they deserve much harsher labels than mentioned above and stop judging Hause for a lapse in driving standards? Rant over, just please keep perspective folks - at least Hause wasn't sitting on his phone, tweeting car pictures at the time, like some past Villa players have admitted to!
  4. We're going to look so stupid if this doesn't ultimately happen I.T.S.O.T.P is what we need...but at least we're not hanging around and the coaching staff he'll bring are definitely a huge upgrade on Shakespeare and Co.
  5. Let me clarify. I don't think any one individual was/is to blame but as Head coach, Smith was accountable for sorting any disruption out. I think several of the players need a serious rollocking and have let Dean down, I'm not convinced the new coaching staff helped either. It quickly became toxic and never got sorted. That's what I believe was happening behind the scenes. The next manager will need to get hold of several of the players and reset their ego's pronto...
  6. We couldn't continue with Smith, something was not right behind the scenes - great bloke, Villa fan but his time has passed. I don't think it's coincidental that John Terry has emerged on Twitter these past few days and I think everyone knew on Friday what was coming. Based on the Matt Targett post match interview. I don't know who's coming in but I'm pretty sure others at the club do.
  7. Better marginally which isn't saying a lot but not good enough to save Dean I suspect. How has it all gone so wrong so fast?
  8. Something is very wrong behind the scenes, maybe losing coaching staff and key player is a bridge to far for Smith? I wish it wasn't but something is definitely amiss in that dressing room
  9. I hate to mention he who must not be named but I think his absence is to blame more than we might want to admit. We're in transition after losing our best player. Systems come and go but spirit, determination and self-belief are key to everything. No system allows opposition CB's to run the length of the park unchallenged as happened against Arsenal - that's down to individuals taking responsibility. We need to see Mings, Watkins and McGinn offer more today and give us the spine to the team we've seemingly lost. We need a spark, something to go our way and to build from. Hopefully that will come today against WHU but it's a big ask, ironically if we get something positive from the game, then it could be just the spark we need. We must try to remain patient as Dean Smith teams do go on losing AND winning streaks.
  10. Speaks volumes that our stadium and match day experience is ahead of newer, bigger and "better" grounds! We're definitely on our way back and credit to the club for making sure fans remain at the heart of things....unlike a certain set of plastic's in Manchester...
  11. It's like we're all just minions on VT enthralled to random journalists tweets, I thought this would have calmed down after signing Watkins but it seems we're in need of another hit of speculation, this transfer window stuff is just too addictive...
  12. Doug Luiz has impressed me, Keinan is proving to be the next Heskey (but with more potential as age is on his side) but Jack and John are simply not at the races and nobody else is working hard enough to make us competitive. We will never achieve our goal of survival unless we show grit and determination but both qualities are sadly lacking from the manager down and that's unforgivable given our league position. Reluctantly, Smith out...
  13. I hate sitting here feeling it's only a matter of time until we concede...come on Villa pick up the work rate you lazy bunch of....
  14. He's actually looking well up for it, we just need him to find a goal as nobody else is trying today..
  15. 10 mins gone and we're already rolling over, spineless and unacceptable...

I think if you look at the short-term picture then we are a weaker team than that which got us promoted (we've missed Tammy from the off and I can't help but feel Jack has had his head turned, whilst Mings isn't quite so dominant at this level and our keeper situation is still a joke). However, in the longer term we have now built "a" squad that are all under contract, if we go down then we'll be competitive without panicking about FFP, if we stay up then we have a platform to build on. Our owners aren't daft and whilst not all the moneyball signings are working out this season we have seen key assets appreciate - Grealish, Mings & McGinn are now worth more than what they paid for the club and have spent since. We as fans might not like it but it's how Spurs have pulled ahead of us since the Learner days, growing and selling and reinvesting. They're building a foundation at the moment to cover a number of eventualities and we're a year ahead of the original plan having come up through the play offs last year. I do think Suso is lacking in many ways and not sure Smith has much influence either but if you take our frustrations away and look at this as a pure recovery operation from which to move forward then you have to say we're a million miles away from bankruptcy, have grown the value of the club and still have survival in our own hands - all in the midst of this pandemic situation. I think we need a better balance to the squad regardless of division but you can't overlook how far and fast we've come on - it's just annoying to see individual mistakes costing us so many points! We could and should have been safe by now..
  17. We're doomed, no urgency, no cutting edge and thankfully no working Hawkeye system or we'd be looking at no points... We need a miracle to survive...
  18. I took a print screen confirmation that I'd opted for cash - just in case any "admin errors" occur, saved it in a draft email ready in case I need it as proof... Not that I doubt the club, I'm just conscious that we're all stuck in this bizarre Coronavirus world at the moment and odd things do randomly happen!!
  19. Spot on @TRO, it's literally round the corner from me and the place is full of the buggers so I feel for Jack as even if he has done something essentially silly under the current restrictions then they'll always look to hype it up. That's the saddest thing about the whole situation, in the context that we've all got genuine bigger things to worry about right now. Although I do equally enjoy winding my neighbours up, so it works both ways
  20. Hi @JAMAICAN-VILLAN, no issue with what you picked up on but I did make reference to the point that he "seemed" to have cleaned up his act and I "hoped" it wasn't true - he's a young bloke, not exactly street smart when it comes to choice of friends and a multi-millionaire. I realise that spells pi**head in any language but he was given the captains armband and has pretty much spearheaded our winning run back into the premier league. Until the last few games he was still arguably running the show since we returned.... I've just seen the local news and team statement that "he's a very naughty boy for going out and has been fined" - nothing more or less said. Although I did wonder if I'd misheard a monty python sketch.. Unless he was going to be charged I expect that to be the end of the matter as otherwise it would be "no comment" whilst an investigation was ongoing. What I was really getting at is the place this all happened is a hot bed for dickhead Bluenoses, that and maintaining an innocent until proven guilty stance is the only thing we can do until concrete evidence proves otherwise. The evidence has just been on the local BBC news.. Even when the world is in lockdown and no games are being played, the Noses are still obsessed with us!
  21. Bluenoses in Dickens Heath would love to take down Jack, the picture doesn't necessarily prove he was driving, or anything more than a passenger/witness. He seemed to have cleaned his act up after previous drunkenness on holiday and I really hope this isn't true. It is a crazy world right now but the last thing any of us need is this sort of attention focused on our captain/club!
  22. It is time to ask Purslow about the future of Smith.....
