  1. I hate to be that guy( actually everyone loves being a smart-arse) but draconian doesn't really fit , it means unnecessarily cruel
  2. Sorry fella some chap named 'Aido' has already claimed it http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/the-irish-xavi-aston-villa-13361110
  3. It's a shame people aren't able to be a little more magnanimous when players of this nature leave, He made no egregious slight against the club, was part of the Villa family for a number of years . I wish him well , just don't turn into Cahill, Albrighton
  4. errr how big is our first team squad at the moment? I'm guessing a little bigger than 20, even minus Vertout, Gill, Elphick
  5. What do people think the over/under line for games started for whelan will be? i would think around 30, and would probably favor the over
  6. a good addition, Last year we needed total revolution, this year just an evolution . I think this guy fits the bill and will help us out. Would be an automatic starter in every other championship team
  7. Whelan pictured at BMH so that one looks nailed on. No real money spent, and with the fees that will be received I wouldn't be surprised to see one more 'exiting ' signing but for better or worse nice to have our deals done already , and squad pretty set
  8. Same day , though moved to evening http://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/nottingham-forests-trip-aston-villa-215655
  9. Wasn't there a transfer window where we nearly signed Muzzy Izzet , but didn't, ? and then Gregory quit. That was the worst transfer window.
  10. But Adomah isn't fit , and beyond that there isn't anyone else . I don't think he has been brought to play RB , the fact he can if needed is a bonus. De Laet is coming back from a long term injury , we don't yet know that much about Bree. So extra cover may be required .
  11. I don't think he has been brought for a starting role but he can 'do a job' and £1m for a player who adds depth at a position where we lack it is good business . But he dives more than Ashley Young.
  12. True , but until the crushing reality of real football starts , this and wild transfer speculation is all we have so we might as well enjoy it.
  13. Watched a half of each game and Samba was the guy who stood out for me, now a lot of very bad players have looked good in pre-season before , but he looked as sharp as anyone . there is a good chance that he is a better option than Richards or Elphick.
  14. I had hopes for him. Didn't he cause a bloodied head in two of his first games, three including his own? looked like he might be a cult hero . I still think he would start in most championship teams , and clearly a good person to have in the dressing room. I just don't want him to go to that lot because I like him
  15. Not necessarily , But what he posts is just Barnum statements akin to horoscopes or cold reading, whatever transpires it can fit what he posts, For example Bruce said something along the lines of " we should have movement on the goalkeeper position in the next 24-48 hours" .which is far more useful . and I think that is closer to how he originally gave transfer updates.
  16. Nixon is one of the most reliable sauces on Villa, why not, offers the squad something new and who doesn't love Crouchy? What happened to Hernandez , can we not 'Jordan Amavi' Hull and buy him instead
  17. I saw, I just wanted a chance to use tautological in context, ..........and you forgot the McBain gif
  18. the 'middle is probably tautological , I think the word is 'whelmed'
  19. Isn't his contract up at the end of season?
  20. This bit is getting a little old.Its a bit of a cheap trick ,because really he isn't saying anything other they are trying to sign and sell players . How you want to interpret it, is up to you.
  21. I don't think he enhanced his reputation while he was here so if we managed to wipe our face than its good business. Its a shame he didn't develop into the player he looked like he might, but the reality is he was our back up left back and our most valuable asset we were willing to sell.
