Ratings & Reactions: Brentford v Villa

And another thing, Wissa jumping into Kamara at the corner, isn't that a blatant penalty? If a player lunges in with a sliding tackle and the other player is first on the ball so that he only catches the player it's an obvious foul. Why is that not the case when it is a header? Kamara comes first to the ball, heads it wide and wissa lunges straight into him not even close to getting the ball. It's another thing if it's a 50/50 challenge and one player wins the header, here it was not. Wissa just body slammed him in the penalty area.- 362 replies

That was feisty! So thrilled about the three points, best moment beside our goals was Ben Mee getting a straight red, I think there is an argument for banning a player for a longer time with that behaviour. Just luck that he didn't end Bailey's career. Except Wesly, hasn't he done similar to other players as well?- 362 replies

I dont see the point with playing Cash at RW, I dont think he has any good games for us there except against weak teams in the EL. I would take off Cash and Ramsey and put on Zaniolo and Bailey. Alternatively put big Donk at CM and move McGinn forward instead of Ramsey and put on Bailey for Cash.

The most "physical" Villa players

I as well think a top class RB is the highest priority, then I would like a CM instead of big Donk, I would also like a target player up front so we can change tactics at time, but that could wait to the summer. Oh and a new no 2 would be welcome as well of course.

A bit surprised we started him as RM against a team like Spurs. Perhaps it was because Spurs play this wierd but efficient tactics with their fullbacks playing as attacking midfielders when they have possession, perhaps the idea was to have Cash as cover for Konsa. But it hampered our attacking play too much. It made such a difference in the second when Tielemans helped us regain control and Bailey driving on out wide. We are well stacked in the inverted winger role with McGinn, Ramsey, Tielemans, Zaniolo and Buendia. What we really need is a top class RB.

World class!

Very impressed by him today, a good sign that he performed so well against top quality opposition. Contributed to us turning the game. He plays with more calmness and is more measured than before, some really good passing and footwork and looked like threat. Him and Tielemans coming on in the second half was a very good move by Emery (though I didn't understand why he played Cash from the start), with Tielemans we regained more control in the middle with his passing and possessions play and with Baily we became a threat up on the right hand side, we looked more balanced and created more.
-
Haha I was thinking the same, there was one moment in the second half when Son was on a free run on our right hand side and he ran like a maniac with his arms like a skier, I didn't know he was that fast! He is certainly over his injury now which is really positive. A real unit and such a good defender. I'm a bit surprised that the build up often goes through Torres instead of him, Carlos has very good passing, not at least the long range passing. Want to see him ping those cross field passes from standing still more!

I thought he was exceptional today, voted Martinez motm but could as well have been Kamara. He outshone Luiz for me, contributed a lot in defence and covered alot of ground, some sweet footwork and passing as well.
-
I thought he should have started, could have tweaked in different ways to play him instead of Cash. He brought stability, calm and possession to the team and contributed very much to the win.

What a super game that was to watch! Spurs are playing really entertaining and attacking football, good that we managed to find the weaknesses. Their left back most played like an attacking midfielder, the right back almost the same. So good three points! UTV!

I don't agree with some of the scepitcal comments. I think he does a terrific job and seems to play his role almost to perfection. I understand why Emery starts him. It's not a very easy position the inverted winger role, but he has everything for it, he both contributes in the build up play by often being available for a pass, has good feet, careful and good passing. He takes up good positions to create space for the LB on the wing, he is also able to drive forward himself and has the ability to find good positions to score when we build up on the other wing. Add to that his physical presence and contribution defensively. Very few players has all these attributes that he has. Yesterday he was unlucky with the finishing or perhaps needs to work on his concentration/finishing, but he could as well have had a hattrick. I'm really excited to see what he can do during the course of the season. When Ramsey comes back he will need to up his game more to keep the place, and that will be really exciting. At the moment I'd say that Ramsey at his best is in front of him, but I think the potential that Zaniolo has with all his attributes he could be better than Ramsey.

If he has deleted things on social media it's rather a sign of sanity imo.

I still want Ismaila Sarr :- D Though I also did want Calvin Bassey, and based on today's performance it was lucky we at least did not buy him to play CB...

I don't fully get it, what's the story here?

And also so many times that he comes to the rescue for others. In the build up play almost all our players misplaces passes now and then, Konsa hardly ever does. He just has everything.

One almost gets the impression that the two of you are more happy about taunting fellow Villa fans than that he actually scored an absolutely brilliant goal for us.

Despite some super goals from others, I gave Konsa man of the match, such a great performance from him.

Showed his exquisite passing once again, the pass to Bailey was inch perfect.

What a strike that was, one of his best goals for us imo.
