    Brilliant news. Ollie’s new contract is yet another huge statement of intent from a club that’s on the up. We’ve tied so many key players down to new long term contracts - a real shift from being resigned to the fact that your top players will move on when one of the Sky 6 come sniffing. From the top down, the club is in the best shape it’s been for years. Good times.

    A lot to unravel here. At first I thought he’d died. The second sentence describes when you’re on the bog expecting to take a dump and all you can manage is an enormous fart instead.     He’s looked accomplished and assured in the last 2 games. But he was getting pelters from some on here after a rare mistake and an off-day for the team all round against Newcastle, with comments that he goes to pieces without Mings alongside him. There will be much tougher tests to come than Everton and Burnley, but he’s a quality defender in his own right, and Emery clearly sees that.

    Had a browse of their forum. A lot of them saying he’s not been great for some time now, including the last few months of last season. I was surprised - thought the sun shone out of Bruno’s arse as far as they were concerned.

    Not enough differentiation between the three kits this year. The third in particular should be something completely different - not yet more light(ish) blue. I know they can wear claret shorts and socks to get round things, but as things stand, the full home, away and third kits would all clash with the Man City home kit to some extent.

    I’m not sure why people are posting as if these are his first 2 decent games for us. They’re really not, he’s had plenty of decent games. If Emery wants a different type of fullback to fit with his preferred style of play so be it, but Digne is decent and his delivery of crosses is excellent.

    Other teams revelling in your demise can be looked on as a form of compliment in my opinion. It shows that you’re relevant. The bigger they are, the harder they fall and all that. We took the piss out of Newcastle big style when we sent them down - would we have reserved the same treatment for, say, Southampton? Fans of other teams taking the piss is part and parcel of football. Personally, I have no real axe to grind with Everton and reading their forum, there’s an air of resignation around the club like there was with us in our dark times. I’d far rather reserve my energy for the hatred of multiple other teams (Sky 6, SHA etc) before them.

    To be fair he’s rarely let us down - he’s a good solid left-back. It’s only this bizarre notion that his weekly salary is more than the GDP of a China that’s held against him.
