    Emotional. We're never going to get a world class manager that is so suited to being here as we've got with Emery. We've never had the fanbase as united with a manager as we have now, literally everyone worships him and won't have a negative thing to say about him. The only way is down when he's gone so I hope he's here for a long, long time.

    We weren't fighting for CL back then and the players we have sold were nowhere near as highly thought of as Carney was at the time. Also, the players we have sold are glorified loan deals.

    He would have definitely started a lot of games here if he signed the contract. The club were terrified of him becoming a star and then leaving on a free so limited his game time to prevent this and put pressure on him to sign. He may still make it but he's massively decreased his chances by signing for Chelsea. At least the club can use this as evidence to other kids that might think of doing the same thing in the future.
