  1. David Meyler has signed for Reading. I heard it on Limerick's Live 95 FM this morning.
  2. To the Bruce family. Please accept my condolences.
  3. Just an update on Chiedozie Ogbene: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018/0129/936707-ogbene-limerick-brentford/ https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-miss-out-highly-14220484 Cheers.
  4. And after all Man City's talk Joe is going on loan again! And TV says they are covering some of his pay! I know we knew something like this would happen but I just had to post it! Cheers.
  5. A happy photo from the BBC website. Celebrating winning the league cup. The mid-90s was some team.
  6. Terrible, terrible news. Condolences to his family and friends.
  7. I see some references to soccer as contact sport. I always considered it a non-contact sport as players are not supposed to come into contact.

    Graham Taylor

I was on my way to Libya, of all places, for work. At the airport I picked up a copy of the Irish Independent. They had a picture of Graham with Paul McGrath and Kent Nielsen, having signed them the day before. Genuinely exciting. Thanks for everything Graham and rest in peace.
  9. 1. Limerick, Ireland. 2. Limerick FC. I am also the treasurer of the Limerick Independent Football Trust ; ) https://liftlimerick.com/ 3. When I was getting interested in soccer we started going to the Limerick games and I started following the English results in the paper. Yes, I picked Aston Villa because I liked the name! When I found out we wore claret and blue that was it. I think that was 1976. In 1977 we won the league cup and came fourth in the league so there was a lot of excitement. I lived in Hertfordshire for 12 years up to 2005 and went to a few games. In 2008 we flew over to Birmingham to see Queen and Paul Rodgers. They played on the Thursday. We went to Villa on the Saturday (0-0 v Portsmouth), and Sale v Munster in Stockport on the Sunday. Friday afternoon we spent at Cadbury's! What a trip.
  10. I was at that one! I worked with an Everton fan who suggested we go for the first day of the new season. We drove to Watford and got the train. Went to HMV and Burger King. Am I right in saying we had just sold Yorke and were short of forwards so we played Scimeca up front? I didn't realise we would get Dion Dublin soon and the season would take off! Cheers.
  11. Ay yi yi! I thought it was Javier Hernandez we were talking about!
  12. Terrible, terrible news. Rest in peace Dalian.
  13. I've been a Villa fan since 1976. I used to get to a few matches when I lived in Harpenden. Now back in Ireland my most recent match was at home to Portsmouth in 2008. 0 - 0 if I recall. I'm 6' 2" and Taurus!
