  1. He would be a fantastic signing for us, and I hope people who say hes "good competition for Taylor" or a "good backup for Hutton" are joking, because Joe was one of the two best LBs in the league last year with Barry Douglas, Taylor was nowhere near his level. Defensively Hutton isnt worse than Bryan, but he isnt nearly the player Bryan is going forward. He would be a fantastic Left Wing Back but even if we play him as a left back in a 4-man defense, hed still be good as he played in a 4-4-2 system at Bristol most of the time, so he is used to it. The only thing that could be bad for him is if Bruce doesnt allow him to flourish going forward like Lee Johnsons did, cause Lee Johnson is clearly a more attacking minded coach than Bruce is. But I still think this would be a great bargain signing for us for only 5 million pounds. I really hope he chooses us, but Middlesbrough isnt in a worse position than us going into the season, but we are the bigger club of course.
  2. You really think so? I mean Stoke and West Brom will spend big and keep some of their first team players. Swansea isnt worse than Cardiff either, ok there is no team like Wolves, but even the promoted teams from League One arent worse than the relegated clubs. I dont think the difference is big, but if you talk about how good and watchable the football in the league is I might agree. Fulham and Wolves were good ball playing teams, and from the relegated clubs only Swansea might play attractive football. (With Potter I guess so) I dont think it would be easier to get promoted next season, even with our current team, but I wouldnt expect us to aim for automatic promotion.
  3. Stoke's problem is that they have never had a reliable goal scorer in the years gone by. Isnt Jonathan Walters their all time leading PL scorer? Sums it up really. Players like Arni and Shaqiri and before that their defensive stability have kept them over the line, most of these years they have overachieved for me. I think they could beat Palace, because when they play as good defensively vs an inform Palace offense (inform bc of the 5-0 win today), Palace might struggle to break them down and they'll get 2 or 3 chances more then today bc Palace arent as good defensively normally. But they have to put them away. Diouf and Crouch arent the most clinical strikers thats the problem. If they stay up fair play do Lambert.
  4. Mame Diouf. He us so bad in front of goal its criminal. They should've sticked with him at the Right Back position. A team that playes with Diouf and Crouch up front in 2018 should get relegated really.
  5. We are the best side in the League at home, but more like a relagation battling side away. If only the playoff final would be at Villa Park.
  6. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/02/13/ryan-mason-retires-football-medical-advice-13-months-serious/ Very sad news! I already forgot about his horrific head injury, so when we played Hull, I didnt even knew he was there anymore. I hope he can live a happy live, I always thought he was an underrated player, so I didnt understand why he has gone to Hull in the first place. He could have easily slotted into the Everton team or so. in the end this transfer is very tragic for both team and player. But the most important thing is, that he is fine.
  7. This is surely a must win! And I think well win. I dont think we'll lose. But I think theres a possibility we'll draw 1-1 with Bent scoring the goal for them. Wouldn't surprise me.
  8. We can actually move into 2nd place this weekend. What a time to be a Villa Fan.
  9. Welbeck is a little bit unlucky too with his injuries. But yes normally he isnt good enough for a top 6 team. Thats why hes only a sub most of the times. And Im still not sure about Iwobi. I would also say he isnt good enough yet to play a big role in a top team, but he has the talent to maybe develop into a big player for Arsenal. His decision making is still too inconsistent, but as you can see with his assist this game vs Bournemouth he has flashes of brilliance.
  10. Mustafi. His passing is atrocious most of the time. Dont know why he's in the german squad. Isnt a bad defender tho.
  11. WOW! What a game this must be! Im so enoyed that they dont show this game here in Germany.
  12. Wolves are the best team in the Championship for me. So you can lose away to them. But as a team that wants to get promoted, we can't be so far off them quality wise. Hutton was our best player. He was really fighting and he saved maybe 1 or 2 goals. He isn't the best footballer as we all now, and you could still see it in this game. But the other players were just far off. Kodjia was bad. But that doesn't mean that he's not a good player on this level. Davis isn't yet ready for such big games with that kind of opposition. But thats alright. A point would have felt like a win if you ask me. I have rarely seen a better opposition than Wolves today at this level. Bruce football isn't entertaining at all, but he won't be sacked unless we start a poor run now. Our situation isn't that bad. One win and we might actually be in the playoff picture, so we got to learn the lesson Wolves teached us, and we can beat Fulham at home, who haven't been that great so far this season.
  13. I wonder if the team is already travelling back or if they are still in a german hotel? Because than I might be able to travel there to see the players.
  14. That would be great. I don't like Dortmund (I like Bayern), but the athmosphere would be great. First step first though. It will be hard enough to get promoted and stay in the PL. And you see with Everton and West Ham. Even if they buy in great players, they are still not good enough to reach the CL. It's as hard as never to reach it sadly. But for neutrals the fight for the CL places in the PL is spactacular.
  15. I was really sad about the news. But I guess it is better for the players and for the game itself. It has rained the whole day without a stop, and I think that would've stopped many fans from going there as well. I guess I will have to wait a long time to see Villa play again. (I never did) But they wouldn't have played against Bielefeld in the first place, so I guess I had bad luck in a lucky situation. :/
  16. For me that are absolutely great news, as I am from Bielefeld. You should've seen my face as they announced this game today in the Stadium at the friendly game vs Norwich, which Arminia Bielefeld lost 3-1. It is the first time that I can see Villa play in real life. In 2013 they were here before on a training tour and I made fotos with players like Gabby,Guzan and El Ahmadi etc. at the Hotel Klosterpforte Marienfeld, where all the teams that play friendlies here go to. The Heidewaldtstadion is not in Bielefeld but in the local city Gütersloh. I was there last year when Arminia played Marseille (won 1 or 2-0). It is a nice very old fashioned ground (some might say outdated), but it is a worthy trip. Does any one of you come to that game here? Gütersloh is also not far away from Duisburg, and there are nice places here and there where you can have a nice time with friends or family. I am really buzzing for that game. I hope Aston Villa play nearly as good as Norwich (which wouldn't be that hard tbf, Arminia were quite poor today), and win. But based of the preseason so far, it might be ruth. In the first half Arminia was on the same level as Norwich (1-2), but in the second half Norwich should've scored at least 3 goals, but they had Cameron Jerome in attack (who scored a penalty, but wasn't very clinical in front of goal to say the least). But oncame Nelson Oliveira who showed his class with a run through the defense and a class finish. I hope Jonathan Kodjia can play, as I think he can cause some problems for Arminias defense. Anyway I am so excited, and I hope we will bring a decent support with us. I will surely have my Villa kit on that day. Up the Villa!
  17. He has the time of his live right now at Celtic. Scoring a hattrick again. People are always slamming the Scottish Premiership. It is bad. But it also shows that Sinclair is a talented player, that was a bit wasted at Villa imo. I am not saying that he would have been something special elsewhere in the PL. But he isn't a bad player.
  18. La Liga is overrated mate. They always say they have the best technical ability down there, but espacially the bottom half La Liga teams are never ever better than the bottom half PL teams. Just my opinion.
  19. Yeah I really like Hogan. He is very direct, and a decent footballer. This directness feels so fresh and new to our team.
  20. But they signed Jermaine Defoe, which was brilliant. But that also fits to our signing of Benteke back then. So yeah you're right.
  21. Exactly right. 19 years https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Oldham_Athletic_A.F.C._seasons
  22. U think Gardner and Frei aren't good signings for them? We talk about a mid-table championship team.
  23. Amavi is our best attacker. And he is our left back!
