  1. Don't want to piss on any Leeds fans parade who might be having a nosy at this but Bielsa has a pretty average record in big leagues. Might be why they got him.
  2. Jokanovic had major issues at Fulham the year they lost in the semis in the playoffs because of how little input he was getting to sign players. They gave him more say the following year and went up and then bought about 500 players in their PL season, many who he didn't want and it all went tits up.
  3. I tend to agree actually. This recruitment drive ( if you think our relegation year a few years back was bad ) has been utterly woeful.
  4. I agree. Veretout at Roma. Gueye at PSG. Gollini 1st choice at Atalanta and in the Italian squad. Ayew on the team sheet every week at Palace. Traore flying it. Hindsight can be a cruel mistress but id be shocked to see any of the crew, Luiz aside, to go on to big things in a few years.
  5. The majority of managers in modern football don't sign the players. Still doesn't mean their job will be up for debate if they don't get results. Job description is loosely defined in the title. Manager.
  6. His interviews are becoming more and more " meh " as time goes on.
  7. Or he's either a yes man. Remember ( despite Purslow telling us otherwise ) he was not first choice. Henry was. Faria even was ahead of him apparently. Smith wanted this. At all costs. With any and every restriction that came with , like having an assistant manager forced upon you.
  8. Let's not pretend having Grealish return for the 10 game winning streak and having the best striker in that division didn't mask over his shortcomings.
  9. Purslow needs to get rid of Suso and Smith. Start again.
  10. Hassenhutl's stamp all over every bit of Southampton. Coached team. At an extremely high level. I'd sack every one on our coaching ticket tonight.
  11. Defensively he's not that clever. Stats don't lie. Last season also.
  12. My thoughts exactly. He's neat. Tidy. Their ten a penny though. Nothing stands out that blows you away.
  13. Luiz will be brillant yet. I do doubt though whether Smith is i dunno , big enough, for some of these players and tactically good enough to make them better. Let's not forget, he was gonna get sacked had we lost to Chelsea before they pulled the plug in March. John Percy pretty much tweeted something to that effect.
  14. I'd take him if they go down and we stay up but no more than what they paid Leeds for him.
  15. No excuses now. We need to show a little bit more ambition and have a serious go tomorrow. Results going our way only matter if we do our bit. Might be our last crack at having a right go at Chelsea for sometime the way they are shaping up for next season.
  16. Commanding is a subjective term really isn't it. I'd say McGrath never uttered 2 words in 90 mins. Did his job and did it like a boss. Mings - flapping his gums, barking at other people when he can't do his own job too well. Chester was McGrath lite ( not for a 2nd making comparisons in quality ) but really really good pro. Decent defender. Showed up. Went to work. No show pony stuff.
  17. They'd probably want 8 to 9 million i reckon. I'd be alright with that.
  18. He is. And a very good football brain. Knows when to stay and go. I swear at times Guilbert has this " i don't give a crap " attitude and just kicks it to anyone. The most unhappy miserable man ive ever seen playing football. I mean the French are sulky but.....
  19. I think Matty Cash perfectly fits that profile. 6ft. Tidy with the ball. Guilbert is shocking, blowing out his arse after 20 minutes. Cash has massive scope for improvement. Decent talent as it is. I agree with your other point but i actually think we'd be able to retain a large portion of the current squad and get promoted. Engels, Konsa, Targett, Samatta - yes. McGinn, Grealish - No. Jacob Ramsey could be part of match day squads for sure.
  20. I'd take Matty Cash in a heartbeat but no silly money. Out wide we are weak and recruited terribly so needs to be looked at. If it's a case of we went down we would have to cut our cloth accordingly, Jota would be decent for us if we got relegated. None of this 15 million pound nonsense for Benrahma or Watkins.
  21. Shame he will be released but it's only the start of what i think will be a great career for him. From our perspective i think we are looking to have absolute quality in the 16 to 20 year old age bracket from here on out going by Purslow's comments. You get 2 or 3 of those pushing for the first team each year and that's fantastic. Not going blowing smoke up Ramsey but the kid does look handy. Bossed it at Doncaster from the first game. If we go down, he has to be in our match day squads. Not gonna lie im excited about Barry. Also mindful of the fact the kid turns 17 tomorrow. Very impressed since the summer in particular about how Purslow is reshaping the youth set up. We are making a big effort to get elite 15 to 16 year olds. Instead of " they might be good in their 20s". I'm still not sold on Suso. He might not hang around though. Call it snobbery but id prefer a top British guy in charge of that department.
  22. Id give Jota a start. The games are unquestionably a bit slower - would really suit him. El Ghazi, Trez not tearing up trees.
  23. United really want him and realistically the lad wants the move too. 60 million + Tuanzebe. I think that's pretty reasonable.
  24. Chasing down.....yeah that'll get us goals. Good stuff.
  25. The 60 yarder over the top kinda all he's got in his locker. Enjoyed not seeing him getting all huggy with all his team mates after every break in play too.
