  1. What ive liked about all the people who’ve worked with and under Emery so far is they aren’t front and centre. Even Purslow has rained it in somewhat. Was a bit of a hallmark of Smith and Gerrard era to see interviews with Terry, O’Kelly, Pitarch, Beale, Cutler fairly frequently. I didn’t care for that. Emery’s crew are very low key. All about the work. This guy looks impressive but without sounding like a buzz kill, want to get him and then get to work basically and not overly fawn at any one individual. It’s not how we roll under this manager.

Is this basically a Raducanu type win? Never heard of this guy until he beat Ronnie and the style he won that match suggested he was playing with no fear or intimidation at all so I'm not too shocked he went all the way. Century break to win the final frame is such a brilliant way to finish aswell.

Quality and a slice of luck ( which every player needs ) The field is so strong at the worlds. Brecel won 10-9 first round. Was getting hammered by Si for a long time in the semi. Great player to watch though and delighted he won.

No I enjoy a tactical exchange. Mind you I remember Cliff Thornburn and he was slow. Think Si v Selby will be a most interesting final.

So do i but a session littered with roll ups is not great snooker and I’d be well pissed off if i paid for the that session. 5 frames !!

Rings a bell but not 100% sure. Brecel winning 7 frames in a row against the greatest ever is probably the greatest ever achievement in the world championship ever. That's a lot of greatests and evers.

Be good to see how Brecel handles the tag of been favourite. I think that game will be close. Si has put out Murphy, Milkins and McGill. Nothing to be sniffed at. He won’t be a bit worried about Brecel. I think Selby will win it out now. Out of the 4 left, he knows how to.

Fair play to McGill, to finally concede and admit he didn't play great.

I'm.so pleased for Si, he's been brilliant all tournament.

Leta hope he has more respect for the game than the other young Chinese players

Isn’t Si the guy who beat Murphy at the uk open a few years ago and Murphy went on a rant that amateurs shouldn’t be let play at that ? Then Si went and dumped him out of this years worlds too 😂

So what do you think Archer would prefer?

I don’t think with his momentum and the trajectory of where his career is at right now, he’ll want to get 10-15 mins at Villa next season, even if it’s every match. Watkins is Emery’s man at the minute. Archer would start easily for a handful of premier league clubs next season. We don’t necessarily have to have Boro going up to loan him there. Many clubs would take him.

I would rather Archer as backup to Watkins next season with the new striker being more of a support striker

I know you would. I don’t think Archer would though.

  8. Professional pride should necessitate that these players would want to turn in a performance here given that the reverse fixture ( albeit under Gerrard ) was arguably our worst performance of the season. That married with Emery’s tactical nous, i think we’ll win. Be a tough game though.

Real conundrum but what a good one to have. Keep him and play him in the Bailey role, loan him to a prem club or sell him for £25 million+

The thing none of us know is how Emery rates him.
