He got a bit carried away playing the pantomime villain today, unnecessary at the end and causing things to kick off has now cost us for the next 3 matches now. To be fair it's the first time since the corner last season vs Arsenal he's done anything stupid.

I think somewhat it was his gamesmanship. No problem with him making a meal of Maupay's challenge. Don't really have a problem with his niggle at Maupay that instigated the chaos either. Trying to drag him off the ground pushed it a bit far and he probably lost his head a little then.

I would be amazed if we don't buy another striker in January. Probably means Jhon goes on loan somewhere.

I don't think he is going on loan at all and do very much think he can play his part as a back up when required.

However I do worry about temperament. Some of his challenges coming off the bench are inspiring to the crowd and somewhat the team but also a red card waiting  to happen.

Nothing today suggested that and if he had the responsibility from the start it could mean he played a little different, but if we would struggle without Watlins we would certainly  struggle without both of them for a few games.

Don’t think pau is mobile enough

Yeah that would be the question mark but any less than Dendocker? Perhaps Douglas Luiz plays deeper. Who played there in his suspension, I can't remember?

  4. I doubt it will happen, but to play how we do with Kamara I can only see Torres as a direct replacement for Kamara in his role. No one else could do it similar.

Never normally a fan of centre backs playing as a DM or full backs as wingers as even if they have the attributes, It loses something in why they have those attributes. I just feel it would keep our style of play. As I say I don't think it would happen and also if he's not took a knock himself might be out the question anyway.

  5. Not seen a great replay and i know others have said definite red but did seem a bit harsh? It looked a push around the collar bone. There was at least one push by a Brentord player a few inches lower.

Any ACL injury is significant. With all due respect, without knowing to what degree the tear nor the recovery protocol, you're not going to be able to diagnose a timeframe.

I'm far from an expert apart from having had the op myself but while there will be different grades to the ligament damage, I'm not sure the operation would be any different. The ligament would need to be replaced with a new graft however badly it was damaged as the ACL can't regenerate.

Recovery as you say would be difficult to diagnose, all depends on having the right plan and the patients body and its ability to recover. Its not even just the ligament. I'm not sure what they favour for athletes but my graft was from my hamstring (which is typical) there are artificial ones and from the patella. So the hamstring needs to repair and then what I found hardest was building my quad up again after it losing its muscle memory and that's obviously an important part of leg strength and stability to avoid damaging the knee again.

With regards to hotel and flights. Why would you book and pay for hotels before your ticket has been issued? That sounds like utter nonsense from them and just trying to play as victims again.

There's Villa fans that will have bought travel for our games before being guaranteed a ticket. Maybe they would be hopeful to get one but certainly if we had an allocation cut, there would be plenty travelling without a ticket, flights would be booked as soon as the fixture was announced. My only european away against Slavia Prague, I was far from being guaranteed a ticket and no doubt should we get there, semis and final there will be loads going with little chance of a ticket.

That's not saying they would kick off though and the club would absolutely arrange to make sure the correct people got the tickets and be in dialogue with the opposition and also to fans without tickets to help with a smooth operation. I don't think our fans would try on mass to gain entry. Depending on access systems no doubt a few would try to get in.

That's not any excuse for what happened. Maybe raises a question of whether it was right to reduce allocation if it was known another 1000 were still coming. However there was talk of 3000+ turning up, that's still 1k more than they would have had allocated anyway. So would it have changed anything?

Wow. If that's true then it's an utterly insane decision by LW and would effectively guarantee the scenes which unfolded.

It does make them very culpable, especially going with Villa's statement of them not able to have any dialogue with them.

I did wonder how they were allocating their tickets. You see Ultras often have some power within clubs and get some tickets to sell/distribute themselves. Which in itself could have caused disorder with some. Not knowing if they had a ticket but were expecting one, plus the ones that were never going to be able to get one. However if that's how it happened, then that's even worse as it does have a sense of encouragement from the club.

  9. I didn't see too much. Apart from the sound, smoke and flares flying over where they were held. I did see one or two injured police being brought into the main car park from the battle zone.

After the game, there were a few pockets of poles. Most were drunk and still drinking but not bothering anyone. On the way up to Tesco, there was a lump of a pole that I think picked off a Villa fan a little behind me. I only saw him taking his shirt off as he ran away, but someone said he was wearing a Villa shirt to blend in and decided on a target, hit and ran away. He was wearing workwear trousers so possibly lives here and turned up after work or just a bad fashion sense.

So we can only activate the 15 million buy back clause if Hull City get promoted.

Was reading this earlier, seems a strange clause to have in there. The wording I saw was playing in the same division rather than if promoted but effectively the same.

No wonder it took a while to be ironed out. I wonder what details actually are in there. If he is highly sort after and they don't go up, if the buy back can't be triggered and we don't want to pay the going rate, you'd like to think there was a decent percentage of the transfer fee due our way.

In an ideal world, Hull go up and then we give him some time with them in the Premier league to see how he does.

he was always getting that yellow so I’d rather lose him for Bournemouth than City/Arsenal

I think it could prove very important that he got it. There was a big risk we could have missed both him and Douglas Luiz against one of Arsenal or Man City. Injuries or sendings off aside at least there's only the risk now of one being missing.

Obviously if Bournemouth get into our midfield and we lose a game that we will be favourites, then it backfires a bit, but it is the most ideal option ahead if those 3 games (apart from no yellows, which was unrealistic)

  12. A bit of a contradiction as he's just be named best keeper in the world, but he is so under rated!

Likely because he winds people up etc so fans of other teams just have a dislike to him so don't or won't see actually how good he is.

    Looking for some advice.

My 6 Yr old son doesn't have loads of friends but is best friends with a girl in his class. He was the only kid invited to her birthday.

About Christmas last year a new girl moved to the area with her family and joined their class. At the time she tried to worm her way in with his best friend and split them up. She would tell lies or offer bribes (chocolate etc) to get them not to play together so that she could play with the other girl all alone.

This died down as the year went on and she ended up becoming friends with both him and his best friend, but not as close as they are.

He's come home from school all upset saying he has no friend's. Apparently the new girl's big brother has told him he's not allowed to play with his best friend and the nonsense has started up again. He's too young to understand and is getting upset.

I've had enough as nothing has changed and I want to (calmly and politely) flag this to the girl's mum so that it's out in the open. Not in an aggressive or confrontational way or even blaming her. Just saying something is obviously going on and it'd be great to resolve it so that everyone can be friend's.

My wife is telling me to stay out, that she'll sort it (she's said that since Christmas) and speaking to the Mum will only escalate things.

This is bullying and emotional manipulation. I want this challenged and stopped.

What do you guys think? Will speaking to the Mum make it worse?

Not advice as such but can share my experience of a couple of things that happened with regards to my 6 year old.

Firstly there is one girl in her class who has a mum that has no control or particular care of what she does (she is very different when it's her dad with her) Anyway she is friends with my daughter but can be quite controlling. She can be mean and when my daughter goes to play with someone else she then tries to stop whoever she goes to, from playing with my daughter and she's come home and said she didn't have anyone to play with. We have had chats with our daughter about what she should do and checked with her teacher to see what her friendship groups were like. They didn't have a particular concern. We did try to get a daughter to keep away from her all the time but it was impossible as they did gravitate to each other.

It does seem to have settled down this year and my daughter now has a bit of a different friendship group. So it's naturally worked out well.

On the subject of speaking to a parent. This was a different parent from another class. My wife over heard her calling my daughter a bully at a party. Which really upset her. When my wife came home in tears I went to towards where they lived in the hope of seeing her and asking why? Ultimately that ended bad as she is a fruit loop. Afterwards I apologised if my presence intimated her, however I did not shout, insult her or aggressive in way (which is the complete opposite of her)

Neither me or the wife like confrontation (especially her) and neither the best socially however I will stand up for what is right and wrong. As I said I apologised if she felt intimidated. I don't think there was ever a good time of place but felt i needed to say something. There is also zero chance of my daughter being a bully even with any bias. I'm sure she's not perfect and has an 11 year old sister to learn to hold her own with but bullying is not in her nature at all.

So advice wise, I'm not sure? Probably would be good to speak to the school first to get their opinion first of all.

The concern is probably that the child's big brother has got involved which possibly means that there has been some conversation at their home, whether that involves the parents or not? And what that girl has said in regards to that.

In terms of speaking to another parent. Some will listen to what others have to say. Some will absolutely not! What ever you have to say.

I’d back Everton to get out of this…..what are the bookies odds on them staying up I wonder?

You would imagine so. However with a tough run of games, if a gap opens above them, even if they are with 3 other teams, you never know. Pressure can do funny things.

This is just my take on things regarding the terrace view but I think the holte end ticketing should have been left alone given it’s the essence of the ground and where the atmosphere is driven from so giving what seems to to be 2 or 3 thousand tickets too this product and stopping real fans getting into the upper holte for me starts to put us up there with the Man Utd prawn sandwich brigade when the are loads of other areas this could happen. On a personal perspective I’m about 10000 in the ST Que so I have a Villa membership which was great last season as I could get an upper holte seat for most games so I went to probably 12/13 home games. This season I couldn’t get a ticket for Luton or West Ham and have had to get a ticket in the lower holte on a different row to my son so I have asked Villa for a membership refund as it’s basically pointless

Only done 1 game in there and unless it my only option for a ticket for a game I really want to go to it will probably be my only time but my guess is the club will probably see it as a success. They get premium ticket revenue for those seats, I'm presuming it was mostly sold out and that was for Luton. There was quite a mix in there and it was by and large seemed like fans you would see in any other area of the ground.

I know where your coming from though and my membership recently expired and haven't renewed for me or my daughter yet. I'm pretty low on the waiting list, had it not been for these new areas I'm pretty sure I could have got a season ticket this year.

How’s this thing doing now? From my seat in north stand upper I saw a lot of activity in upper holte around the 41 min mark making their way down

I think that's just a general getting down to the concourse to get served. The Terrace View seats are scattered across the upper Holte. I did go down to the toilet with about 10mins to go in first half and lots were heading down to the regular bars. We didn't go down to the Terrace View at half time, so don't know what it was like to get served in there.

We went in after the game for a quick drink as we were parked in the accessible parking so waited for the road closures to be removed and watched the Utd-City game. There were a fair few that were in there but not as many as pre game.

  17. Went in the Terrace View today as it was going to be the best situation regarding my Dad and ultimately it helped with that so it was a good decision.

There are a number of things that I would pick out though.

I know it's a premium experience but being pretty experienced in hospitality and catering I thought the bar was way over staffed, considering how poorly other areas of the ground can be staffed. On top of that, they half poured pints ready for orders which would be more beneficial on the concourses than it was in there, with that number of staff.

The fridges were poorly stocked. My Dad can't drink at the moment. He had a Heineken zero when we arrived which was quite early but they didn't have any after that. Seemed like it was the case for ther drinks too.

Food seemed very limited, not sure if that's the normal offering or was just today.

I went out pitch side of The Terrace View, which I guess is the new accessible area rather than Terrace View itself. This was a bit weird as had I still had my season ticket it would have displaced me as I was literally stood where my seat was in Lower Holte.

Oh yeah all the girls were dressed up older than they were from the little'ns upwards. Pretty sure she was at least as old as me at the time but as I had been at work and obviously sober I was fully too aware of the bad outcomes of the situation, so backed off.

Everton wage bill will probably be as costly as the stadium though

I dont think they are that attractive. Could buy Sunderland for about a quarter and they have a built stadium

I know money and success can change that and while Sunderland have great support, it's not at Everton levels. Although I imagine new worldwide supporters for Everton have probably been gradually reducing over the last 20 years.

  20. Only just catching up on the gypsy conversation.

I once worked a gypsy wedding at a hotel helping out from a hotel from the same group. It was absolutely chaos but good fun. Plenty of money about, nice cars, bulging wallets. Dancing on the chairs during the meal.

I only worked until the food had been served. So no doubt it would have been less good chaos later but that would be no different from other weddings I've worked with that amount of drink flowing.

I could have got lucky as well, as flirted with a girl all evening and she caught me as I was leaving and tried to lead me to the woods in the grounds. I had my sensible head on and bottled it though for a fear of having my head kicked in 😂. Gave her my number but never heard anything back.

  21. If the sale completely falls through, what do you think the situation will be with the money 777 have already lent the club? If they have any rights to demand it back in a short timescale, considering it was for operational running then that could tip them over the edge without another buyer.

Method if you do not mind to a new air fryer

The Pork itself, I put on the 230° Air fry until the crackling has gone all crispy then put it on roast at about 160° for the sufficient time to cook the pork.

The extra crackling, was the first time I'd done it in the air fryer. I tried it 2 ways cut in long strips and chunks of about 2cmx4cm (done separately) and air fried at 230° for about 25mins. Salted and coated with a bit of oil before hand and a bit of moving around during cooking. Both worked pretty well.

  23. One of my favourite things in my air fryer is Roast Pork. I'm cooking a midweek roast dinner.

A mixture of crackling from the pork and extra crackling done separately. There's a lot more so should keep in a tub.

Yep, they can’t put the genie back in the lamp now. They need to make it work

Aside from the shit show that has happened, it does highlight the value of VAR (if it was done properly)

You can see why the lineman has stuck his flag up. I'm sure the body positions meant it looked offside in real time on the touchline, yet on replay it very clearly wasn't.

However the knock on result of this is they're not now going to stick their flag up unless they are 100% sure it was offside (so comfortably offside) Increasing the risk of injuries to players when there has actually been an offside as well as the issue that there would only be a check if a goal was scored which wouldn't stop someone scoring from say a corner obtained after the incident.

So many things to sort out, which ultimately can't be, without pretty much an instant decision.
