  1. Over the years we have sack managers in october.  Well is it not just bad timing?  Why should we not sack hopeless manager in march/april, and give the new manager time to build up next season.

If we sack in october the new manager has the current player and cannot sell or buy new one.  Sherwood, Matteo and Bruce got sacked in october.  Well Remi Garde was problably special case.

I am not sure sacking Smith is a solution for the moment.  But if we sack him we should do it in april.

If we will give him a chance, than we should give him next season and make a decision april 2020 will we keep him or not.

In long run, we should go to europe seeking for a manager.

I think we should go for tried and tested manager with a good record, not a risk like Henry. What is Claudio Ranieri doing now? He got sacked by Nantes recently didn’t he, would he be gettable?

Henry is maybe to much risk.  Ranieri, if possible, would be a good choice.

I doubt he will be sacked just yet but it won’t be much longer. He is on trial in my view. He certainly will not be afforded the ridiculous amount of slack that he has been previously. We are in the unfortunate position of watching a man self combust very slowly.

The big worry is who we will get as a replacement. The talk of Dean Smith is terrifying. We have a squad full of big egos. They will require a bit of a name to get them to toe the line. Also, managing Brentford and managing Villa are completely different. We need a big manager, with a big ego.

Also, talk of Big Sam is equally as ridiculous. He is not all that different to Bruce! We have enough attraction, particularly with our new owners, to aim a fair bit higher. We need a big club manager, with proven ability, who can build a sustainable, successful club. Bruce and Sam are the ultimate short term managers. They both buy and cast aside players with ridiculous regularity. We need to go all out to get Brendon R for me. He really works with players to develop them. With our squad, he would have us cruising within weeks.

Totally agree.  This not only important, it is simply vital and crucial.

  5. Ok, I admit it.  I am not Steve Bruce fan.  But in Bruce I do not believe.

Who could be our next manager?

Here is one list.  Some of them will never come, are too big.
We have to think big, but be realistic at same time.

Some of you want Sam Allardyce, I do not think he is our best choice.  This is at least my list, as stupid as it is.  But it is not that bad I put Bruce on it

I would check Martin Schmidt.  He is experienced both by VFL and also Mainz 05.  He was promoted from Mainz 05 II to Mainz 05.  He is at good age, and want definitely greater carrier.  He is my first choice,  eventhough he has only "1,34 in average".

What about Ally McCoist, is he a bad choice?

    Name Last Club Av.points
    Ally McCoist Rangers  2,30
    Laurent Blanc France 2,16
    Hannes Wolf VFB Stuttgart 1,99
Frank De Boer Crystal Palace 1,96
    Arsene Wenger Arsenal 1,90
    Eric Gerets Al-Jazira 1,80
    Claudio Ranieri Nantes 1,67
    Peter Stöger Dortmund 1,57

    David Moyes West Ham 1,46
    Sam Allardyce Everton 1,36

  7. Finally more and more people are beginning to admit Birkir can do something.  Snodgrass, Grealish and Birkir were best against Forest.  Why was Birkir performing better now than before?  Two reason, firstly he got 45 minutes not just shitty 5 or 15 minutes.  Secondly it is pretty clear he is leaving the club.  He needs to play more as preparation for World Cup.

Birkir played safe against Forest.  But he is not DM he should play more attacking.  In this forum some people are maintaining that Birkir might be good for Seria A team but not for Aston Villa.  Does someone believes that second division in England is better and more difficult than first division in Italy?  If AV wants to be one of the best team, as we all hope, the manager has to realize that Birkir is definately key player for PL.  How many Villa players have experience at national level, have played in final tournament for his national team, are experience at top level teams and have been national champion, in addition have also great Champion League experience?

If AV will promoted, Birkir is definately one of the key players for Aston Villa.  I hope Steve Bruce will open his eyes.  I hope SB shows us that he can substitute at half time, like last game, but will not behave like a robot and stop to make automatic changes in 65 minutes or after 80 minutes.

June 27th 2016, Birkir was rated 3 by footballmagazine Kicker, But Rooney, Kane, Sterling got 5 (one is best, five is worst) and Sturridge 4.  Why was Birkir underestimated by Steve Bruce?  And why are many people surprised he showed something at English Chamiponship League level, finally he got some minutes to play?

Some people will say, that was two years ago.  I will reply, what about the national game against Turkey?  Then some people will still stay, small countries have another atmosphere and players play with the heart.  I will replay, why in hell can SB not create such atmosphere that players believe in the club and play with the heart?  That is every managers main task to motivate players.

UTV.  I wish all of you, happy new Aston Villa year.

  8. I think it is totally SB faults if BB leaves.  BB came from Ch. L team and why he was bought is beyond my understanding.  You do not buy this kind of player just to fill the squad.  Second BB has all chances to play at world cup.  If SB do not see the opportunity in that situation he is worse manager than I thought.

But it seems to be that my oppinion is in minority by the fans.

Well I can not see that we will get promoted.  Maybe SJ sees that too and is willing to go.  Maybe the reason is something else.  But I believe decision like that is some kind of aggrement.  SJ has something to say about it and maybe he do not believe in SB.

Yes I admit, this post belongs perhaps SB threads.

  9. It is not ideal for AV if he will leave.  But if his role is to sit on the bench he has no reason to stay.

He needs to be fit for world cup.  Seria A would be great for him.

I hope we will not loose Johnstone as well.  If we loose both of them SB can leave the club.  I cannot see SB will get us promoted.  But I really hope I will be wrong.

Whilst I know Bjarnasson performs for Iceland, he is one of the worst players I have ever seen pull on an Aston Villa shirt.

Bruce doesn't pick him because every time he's done so in the past he has looked like a competition winner having a lovely day out.

    He is absolutely garbage.

Well then he should be on the transfer list.
Status Quo is not an option for Bjarnason.

Well why create many polls?  These polls are good except sometimes it is more appropriate to select none of above.

1- Bjaranason has not done a lot so far at Villa. There have been better players ahead of him in the pecking order. He is going to be a squad filler and given our knack of getting injuries he will be getting game time soon.

2- Until yesterday we have been on a good run so I would give Bruce the  benefit of the doubt

3- Bruce has had 2 promotions from the play offs, with arguably worse teams than this season's vintage.  I think that shows he can motivate players.

4- We have a good defence. In fact we had one of the best defences last year less Terry in the league anyway- our main problem then was scoring the goals.

Thank you for a good answer.

    1.  He has not played well for Villa but had Bruce give him some decent chances?  He is go good to be a squad filler.  I don't think Bruce knows what he is capable of doing.

    2.  Agree, but Bruce has never plan B.  He has no idea what subs can chance a game.

    3.  Are satisfied how the team is playing?  Is he running out of gas now?

    4.  Sometimes our defence looks like a strainer, like in goal number two.  If he need someone who can score a goal, he should give Bjarnason some chances.  He can scores but as a midfielder.

But the main issues is of course, the team is not playing well. decent football, (not why Bjarnason is not the key player).

But does Bruce know this fact.

Birkir Bjarnason recently scored against Turkey in Turkey in a great and safe victory.  So it is easy to motivate him.

  13. ok, everyone can be unlucky in first minute. But what did we after that? We were at home and WE HAD 89 MINUTES TO DO SOMETHING. What is going on to this team?

    Nothing

Then they scored 0-2. What was the defense doing? Nothing.

What did we do after 0-2? nothing

What does Steve Bruce in halftime?  Nothing?

There was nothing happening in this game. Players played terribly, did not know where to go. It is no sympathy in this team. No one is playing together as a team. Only eleven individuals like eleven single teams.

Is there really no place for Birki Bjarnason?

How many Villa players played in EC 2016?

How many Villa players will play in World Cup 2018?

How many current Villa players have played in a European Cup? Champions League? In top club in first division?

Why was Birkir bought?  Please do not bring  excuses like the English Championship league is something so special. I'm also watching games in 2nd Bundesliga and if anything, it is just better and stronger.

English soccer or Championship league is so special, is not an excuse.

What is going on Steve Bruce?

How do you see Steve Bruce motivate players in the play-offs?

How in hell is Steve Bruce unable to get us a decent defence?  It is not enough to have one great defender.   Was Steve Bruce not Centre-back?

  14. Where we got the lead when we should have completed the game.
Other result is unacceptable.  We were much better in the first half.

3 points today would have been statement.  Be aware we are a strong team.
It would also be warning to Hull, which is very likely to promote.  This was psychologically very important game.

What happened in the dressing room in half time?  Bruce is not reaching to players.
If we had made subs earlier for example in 55min, when Hull had played better last ten minutes. We would have managed to turn the game back to our favor.
    Tactical mistake by Bruce.

Well my thoughts are zoomed up in these posts, no need to rewrite it.

Our biggest problem is mental. Simple as that. We clearly had more than enough quality to win it comfortably but we can't cope whenever teams get their tails up.

Very promising first half but again Bruce tactically outwitted at half time and a poor 2nd half - we simply cannot afford to miss easy chances like today !

Close to winning it, wasn't great but wasn't that bad either. A young lad nodding into an open goal away from taking all 3 points.

Bruce has learnt nothing from last season. Same old 45 minute performance, same old baffling subs, same old leaving it too late to make a change. Title winning teams take their chances and finish off the game with confidence.

The only thing I'd criticise Bruce for is not making subs sooner

We created enough chances to win two games, it's not his fault they didn't end up in the net

The guy is a born winner, and I would say at points in his career, was bordering on World Class. When was the last time we were linked with, let alone signed a player of that stature? Yep, he's got a bit of history, but so have Grealish, Agbonlahor, McCormack etc..... and they are not fit to lace Terry's boots. The concerns about whether he can last a 46 game season are valid, but there is nothing more difficult for a footballer than a lack of consistent playing time. 5 games out, 1 game in, for the entire season is going to leave you rusty and prone to errors, especially when you are playing at the very, very top of your profession. It is an absolute no-brainer for me.......

He is legend.  He has won almost everthing and why should he play for Villa?  Maybe, this is his chance to promote.  If we will win the league, he will be the king.  His legacy will belong to Chelsea but also to Aston Villa.  Why should he choose Birmingham?  No chance to promotion.  Why Swansea?  Nothing to achive except avoiding relegation.  Terry is a winner and avoiding relegation is not exciting.

We are not playing in Premier League, so we need not Chelsea top class player.  Ok, he is not as fit as before but still he is great.  Ok, maybe he cannot play 46 games, but can he play 30 games in 90 minutes or 46 games in 60 or 75 minutes?

He had made personal mistakes or bad behaviour.  But what about Suarez?  He changed when he came to Barcelona.  Terry's bad behaviour earlier does not necessarily mean bad behavior in the future.

His chance and maybe his ambitious is:  John Terry legacy,  He made Chelsea great and he manage to make Villa great again!

He should play for us 2-3 season.  Next season as much as he can.  Next season (hopefully in premier league) he can play most of the game.  Maybe third season he plays some games but starting to coach at Villa, if he is interested.

    I say welcome John Terry.

But I am calm, and will not celebrate before he has sign.

a midfield of Adomah Lansbury Hourihan Bjarnason is about 100000000000000000000 times better than whatever midfield we have been playing for the last 6 months

I think it is more like 1000000000000000000000 times better.

    :)

Bjarnason can open a gate and hopefully also the gate to PL.

Is he a captain?  If he's not a captain I don't want him.

Don't worry he will contribute huge to Villa.

If the rumour is correct, Bjarnason is definitely our best signing this season.
