I don't care what the song is, as long as the player get the pet name "Boub-Kam" or something like that!

Big fan of most stadia built along a waters edge. Those Everton plans were brilliant.

I think it is Molde who’s stadium looks like an absolute dream.

    Re Molde - don't think so - a wraparound stand ?

But the fact that this has been done so early suggests that Coutinho / Barca were not desperate to wait for a "better" option.  So I think Gerrard and Purslow had some work to do in terms of the "sell".

    This reads contradictory to me…….

Not my first Villa Park game but the one I have the clearest early memories of was a snow game. My birthday 1962, an FA cup game against Crystal Palace. villa won 4-3, watched it while standing on a pile of snow cleared from the pitch at the front of the Witton End.

    Happy Days⛄

I was there - Peter Mac wore the 9 shirt iirc

  5. Yes - all the runnersup are into the nextb round - so 32 teams.

all group winners will play a runnerup - from the same North or South section but not from the same group.

Draw : https://www.efl.com/papa-johns-trophy/the-competition/fixtures/   all academy teams are away from home.

Villa could have drawn any of the 8 runnersup from the South section - except MK Dons from their own group and any Acad who finished 2nd - Chelsea & Arsenal

I was on holiday with my Mom and Dad at Harlech Wales, in a caravan.  I believe it was a night game and we were trying to get radio updates. One of the newspapers next day had a back page headline, “Villa 1 -  Villa 4.”

Slightly off topic - but that headline reminds me of the first one I ever read "Villa 11 Hitchens 5"  - 62 years ago.

His dad is chairman of Alvechurch FC - and a bluenose!  (and very proud, of course)

Yeah. They even have the wrong number for Sanson and I don't see Patterson listed despite a few appearances for the U23s.

Patterson is 15 apparently  - that may have some connection

I still dont understand this trophy. So could we conceivably play in the final of it, at Wembley? I'm sure it's only ever between league one and league two teams, when I've seen the finals.

    All L1 & L2 clubs + 16 invited Academies = 64 teams = 16 groups of 4 (each group has one Acad)

Each team plays other 3 once.  Acad teams always play away

Top 2 each group go through. Each group winner plays a runnerup from a different group. Academy teams are kept apart from Round 2 to SF. (Not sure how that works)

It might be called the Ham&PineapplePizza Cup - but it actually is the kid brother of the League Cup - The English Football League Trophy**. And I'd be surprised if L1/L2 teams take it lightly.

** not to be confused with the FA Trophy.
