So the Villa win a european quarterfinal and instead of celebrating it I’m feeling horrible because Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham couldn’t win.
What has football turned into these days..

This could have been Unai's Stoke moment, but he just refused to allow it. No curse, bad luck, injury or anything will stop him.
-
Well let’s hope we end up paying the full 15 mil.
-
Not impressed by his movement and work rate.

Of course it’s an opinion, don’t let it trouble you so much. We will see who is right in the next few years and feel free to admit you were wrong if it turns out that Roger’s doesn’t amount to much.
But of course. I've been wrong on many a player. Surely everyone on message boards have, we're not scouts. Which is why I find it so weird to have a very strong opinion on someone who is a complete unknown.
Also, I'm not defending the specific bid for Rogers, nor the player's ability. I know nothing about him. I've literally watched him once.
I defend the transfer logic - we don't have room with FFP, we can't go and sign players for the first team (supposedly), so we're taking chances on talented young players instead. Lottery tickets for small change. Not all of them will be good, most probably wouldn't and Rogers might be terrible, it's possible. But if they've scouted well and if one of these is a hit it'd be huge.

Why would you think it's a signing for the sake of it and not because they've scouted him, have the inside scoop from Harrison and genuinely like him. This is a weird hill to die on.
10 minutes ago, Leeroy said:Dunno if its Monchi or Unai who want him, or both, either way I believe they’re wrong on this.
That's just like .. an opinion. Surely logic suggests there's a possibility you could also be wrong, so this crusade you've been on has been quite bizarre.

But he so clearly doesn't seem the right player for a team 3rd in the best league in the world.
Perhaps not. But we don't have the resources that other teams around 3rd have. Tottenham can afford to go and spend 100M in january, we can't . So we have to take risks with younger players like this lad, the serbian kid and others. If 1 of 3 pans out it'd be a win.
Unless we achieve champions league revenue we couldn't compete on the market and in order to get there we'd have to overachieve, not outspend the rivals.

Eh Blues missed out. Should have waited a couple more weeks.

He was available on a free in July, why did no other PL team snap him up if he’s so good?
Apparently he wanted that fresh interesting challenge, playing in the champions league too. He probably gets paid way less than what premier league teams could offer.
Grass isn’t always greener though.

Sure let's antagonize groups of Villa fans with different opinions because .. reasons.

That's according to you.

They certainly seem to speak for the vast majority of VillaTalk, why'd you think they don't for most of the fan base?

But, why would we be choosing to not push on our current league position and get some reinforcements? It seems pretty clear that we need something to help us through, especially if the Duran stuff proves correct.
Easy - our targets aren’t available and they’re not going to buy players for the sake of it.
Or FFP. Choose one.

Edwards and Hackney would be awesome. Probably good enough for squad players right now with plenty of potential. I could see either of them being worth 50 mil in 3-4 years.

McNeil’s injury didn’t look good at all, hope he’ll be ok soon. Nice player.

Wouldn’t sell now unless it’s a ridiculous offer. He’s too important and has been wonderful all season.
Maybe in the summer.

I’m sure Nas & Wes have their fingers on the pulse so leave that to them to worry about… Again I’m only really interested in league position and not some execs role which no one truly knows was in the process … our owners should be getting criticised just as much as Heck.
But they are. People criticize the off the field stuff and rightly so.
In any company, in any field, being a shambles in one department inevitably affects all others in due time.

I wonder if we'll get a response from the club today - whether you like it or not, this definitely isn't the right way to launch a crest. I'm kinda hoping the club will rush forward their plans and take ownership of the narrative and launch asap.
I'd really hope so, because it would at least show a level of competency we've not come to expect.
Not holding my breath though, tbh.

Why stop at the drop shadow? We could really push the boundaries and use Comic Sans as well no? Add some faux 3D in there as well, blinking text whenever it's used digitally...
Sure, they could also write the name as AsToN ViLlA to complete the late 90s message board style.

So proud of our Villa! What a wonderful season.
Emi is a true legend.
Lille are a very good team, probably the best we’ll play against in this competition.
