Is this Duran's replacement before he is shipped off to Chelsea?

Swap an attitude that is hard to manage with one eager to learn for about the same price?

Has anyone on VillaTalk met Duran?  Does anyone actually know anything about his attitude? Ever notice how it’s only black players who seem to have bad attitudes and are hard to manage?

  2. That was a typical Chelsea performance from this season...  Lots of possession, some nice attacking moves, but poor finishing and a Martinez masterclass performance cost them the game.  I do have to say that they defensively caused us the most frustration of any team we've played in months.  I think Poch's relentless high press of our defenders mixed with tight man-marking of our midfielders didn't allow us any time on the ball in transition until their team was gassed halfway through the second half and couldn't keep up that intensity.  That said, we had a lot of good chances through our set pieces and were unlucky to not score at least one.  I'm hoping our home form helps push us through in the replay, but overall neither team was at their best today.

  3. Was a weird signing along with Bednarek near the end of that window.  Neither fit our shape or team structure under Gerrard and it was like Lange thought they were bargains, so they came in.  Never had a problem with Donck.  Always did a job and was reliable, just doesn't pass well enough to be starting in Emery's team.  I wish him the best going forward.

  4. lol...  He'll barely get minutes this season.  Maybe 2-3 appearances if that then will be shipped off this summer.  Not good enough in the Championship last season and isn't good enough for us now.  The amount of praise this kid has gotten from some Villa supporters for doing fook all in his career is shocking.

With Donk gone, its time to see if he gonna make it at Villa or just be Pure Profit.

Considering Tim isn't an DM, you're going to be disappointed.

A quick centre back makes a change from Pau and Lenglet.

Lenglet is going to cost too much this summer to make permanent.  His wages are too high and Barca wants too much for him, which is why he's been loaned to the Prem in back to back seasons.  The only reason we went for him this season was as a Mings injury replacement.  Hermoso will take Chambers' spot in the squad next season.  We'll have 5 CBs with the Spaniards being our ball players, Mings/Carlos being the physical/athletic defenders, and Konsa filling in as a CB every once in a while, but mainly playing RB.  Hermoso is a fantastic CB and shows we're building a squad for the Champions League.

  7. The problem is we generate a fraction of the revenue that the "elite" clubs bring in.  The only way to grow revenue is to grow our global fan base, which leads to better sponsorships/merchandising deals, and the only way to do that is to have sustained success on the pitch.  The catch is that it's extremely hard to have success on the pitch while only able to invest a fraction of the funds our rivals can into our playing squad.  This is why it's critical to back Emery 100% and continue to get him every single cent he can invest into increasing the quality of the first team.  We're already getting new fans this season and once Emery wins his first trophy at the Villa, it'll only continue to grow, but clubs like Chelsea and Man United won't continue to burn their funds on the wrong players/staff forever.  We need to take this opportunity over the next 3-5 seasons, win some silverware, and firmly reestablish ourselves among the elite in England again.

Iroegbunam was one of the best midfielders in the Championship last season until QPR appointed Crichtley and changed his role, and even then he didn't 'look very poor', that's just just making things up, he just wasn't as good as he was first half of the season, agains because he had a different role, ask most QPR fans, most of them would love to take him back, he hasn't had any chances this season because he's been injured, he was also injured in pre-season.

I'v actually seen both Hackney and Iroegbunam play, Hackney last season when I was watching Archer and Ramsey for Middlesbrough, and Iroegbunam for our U21s and whilst on loan at QPR.

Iroegbunam was getting into the England youth teams ahead of Hackney before his injuries.

This whole "he was one of the best in the Championship before Beale left" is revisionist nonsense.  Tim only made 10 appearances under Beale (starts and sub appearances)...  https://fbref.com/en/squads/a757999c/2022-2023/Queens-Park-Rangers-Stats .  Also, QPR's fan forum eviscerated Tim most of December and January and couldn't wait for him to be dropped from the lineup.  I know, because I stopped over there several times to see their reactions.  10 good games under one manager and 22 garbage performances under 3 different managers isn't enough to justify the hype placed on him.  Hackney is a much better player and has shown significantly more in his 50 Championship appearances than Iroegbunam has shown in his 10 Michael Beale appearances.

It's highly unlikely we're signing Hackney, he would be behind Luiz and Tielmans for a place in the team, he's not the Kamara backup that people want, Hackney needs to play alongside a Kamara type. Also we have Iroegbunam who is just as good.

I keep seeing people rate Tim as being amazing but he looked very poor for QPR last season and hasn't exactly taken his chances in the Villa side this season with Emery at the helm.  Hackney is actually class and playing very well in the Championship this season.  He might not be ready for a side chasing the Prem title, but he'll absolutely be a very good Premier League player within a few seasons.  Tim might not even make it in the Championship at this rate.

With Forest about to be fined/docked points, it’s time for us to go and get Gibbs White.

MGW the definition of a highlight reel player...  Does fook all 9 games out of 10, then looks like a world beater that one game.  Considering you've already written off Buendia, Bailey, Zaniolo, Diaby, etc as too shit for us, I can't wait to see how many games it'll take for you to write off MGW as well...

    £60m plus wages on him.

    £60m plus wages on Mount

They could I have instead got themselves 1 top class player.

That's what they used to do...  Or at least spent the money for a top class player on one bum...  Now they're trying something different!  Spend the same money on TWO bums!!!

I'm sorry we created an open goal and should have had 2 stonewall pens.

This. We were far from our best today but the refs and VAR did everything they could to stop us from edging out a poor win. 2 stonewalls and an open goal overruled for soft theatrics.
