  1. No way, honeslty man he was pretty shit for villa in the last season and should have been dropped on countless occasions. Whilst he was here Mon made him undroppable in his mind, despite having some shockers. His heart was firmly set away from Villa after the liverpool transfer saga and I'm just glad we managed somehow to get good money for him. The only way he would come back would be tail between legs or even more money than city is paying him, neither terms sit with me.
  2. I am certainly not optimistic about the situation as a whole, yet I still make the flight from scotland -> london and drive from London to Birmingham week in week out to see them + away games I do however see some grounds for optimisim, there are potentials and glimmers of hope but i am certainly not optimistic (i.e. I dont go thinking we are going to get something but i appreciate we have some potential to).
  3. This is the reason I got my season ticket ages ago and intend to keep it forever. I'm expecting a lot of upset this season, dont expect to do much good and wont be suprised if we finish below our place last season. For me last season was a bit lucky, we didnt play many particularly good games where felt we actually deserved to win. This season that wont do, too many teams gonna be pullilng there socks up and we'll get found out. Regardless, I'm a fan and I still go whether we are a sunday league team or a premiership team and whoever is in charge even if I dont like them!
  4. I am 1, I would even go as far as saying givin the opertunity I would take a world cup win over a prem for the villa. A world cup win in my life time is something I dream about, that day will be glorious for all of England.
  5. Easy one for me, Petrov all the way.
  6. what, like Petrov ? his pace and finishing are legendary. not to mention his set pieces and amazing assist rate Petrov has probably been one of our best players this season....and unlike Barry he doesn't want to leave. It is my view that this season he IS our best player. What he brings to the team as a whole goes unmatched and quite possibly unnoticed. Now we need someone dynamic/fast and with a bit of flare to partner and go all creative on us.
  7. How about Sven  No actually I cant even joke about that.
  8. Perhaps we need someone to make an honest bunch of lads of our current motley crew?
  9. Hes a massive contributing factor in the poor form, the team is set to fit around him which is impeding on others abilitys. The difference with Barry is hes not going to get better because he is not interested in playing for the Villa, time to offload.
  10. Indeed, this is just how I feel, I dont think his game even suits the rest of the team when hes performing his best. I think we need petrov and somebody else with a bit more dynamic, flare and pace. Plus this is the only way that Martin will drop Barry, so for me it will be a blessing in disguise.
  11. My stance is still the same after today, with every game my decision becomes easier and easier. ALot of people around me today shouting for him to be taken off, couldnt have agreed more.
  12. I wonder if O'Neil had the choice to vote he would say No, he seems pretty content in letting him go now which is a bit of a U-Turn from the days of giving him man of the match every game. I hope he replaces him with some pace.
  13. Not bothered, I'd be quite happy for him to go to be honest. I think hes over-rated and he doesnt bring us match winning qualitys that we could do with in that position, more match saving qualitys but we have petrov as a holder for that. I just hope we get decent money for him as we blew that opertunity in my book last season.
  14. Upper holte, K5 R12 S140 is my official seat though ive hardly sat there this season. Normally a little drunk and get led astray to other parts of the upper holte by mates
  15. This has certainly been a problem for a while. There arnt many games over the season that we have won and I have thought "shit, we were fantastic today and we thoroughly deserved to win". I think we've all kind of known this over the season as I have seen the old "if we win whilst were playing shit thats a great team" excuse being banded around oh too often. This has definitely come back to haunt us now.
  16. Absolutely not, our strides have been magnificent I will not dispute that fact. I was at the games when we were really shit and it was very depressing. However, a string of bad form and consecutive losses(particularly at home)/draws is. As well as the good times of our season these issues need to be addressed and discussed. Something you omited from my post in your initial response was that I said I still thought Mon was the man for villa, though I have many things in our recent games that I feel could have been done differently.
  17. We must be a laughing stock to other fans. What team goes from 16th to 5th in 3 seaons and the fans have genuine reasons for concern right now. Every team outside the top 4 would trade places with us right now and yet some of us can't be happy with this. Since when is 5th place in one of the hardest leagues in the world not good enough for us? This view certainly fits in with my one eyed category. My view is that throwing away our best chance at champions league for a long time to a string of failures to win, despite dropping out of our european push to concentrate on the league is a genuine cause for concern.
  18. Definitely, my current critisms of O'Neil far outway the praises. However that rule does not apply to his enture tenure and there is not anyone available who I would rather have, so yes he still is the right man for the job. One eyed views are always annoying, if there are some genuine reasons for concern they should be openly discussed along with the good times. There are some genuine reasons for concern right now I feel.
  19. I'd say the words are actually "he used to be shite, but now hes alright" as I heard it on my coach all the way to doncaster + heard it to some degree at doncaster/in pub and people have pretty much caught on from there. I could be wrong but the first versions ive heard from quite a few people right after signing is this one. Not to say of course it cant be changed.
  20. I voted for no just want rid, stance has been like that throughout to be honest. I'm desperate for us to close the chapter and move onto the replacement.
  21. I cant really say if I'm happy or unhappy. I'm not happy that we havnt had the best of results and the situations surrounding what appears to effect our results, but I'm not sure im entirely unhappy. I was really excited at the start of the transfer window and I can definitely say I'm quite worried at this point. I'm happy that we beat the scum twice last season thuogh
