Some West Ham fans I spoke to in London said their socials were full of people saying they'd never sell out The London Stadium regularly as it was too big. Now the club are trying to release more of the seats for use.
Anyone think West Ham are a bigger or more successful club than us?
No, but them and Palace do pick up quite a few neutral fans that move to London for work. Never understood it myself, but I know a fair few people with season tickets for one or the other that support a different premier league team.

So I haven't watched anything on Prime for ages, whats the adverts like? Is the program interrupted every ten mins?
Tempted to go to the high seas just for this show so my viewing pleasure isn't broken up into ten minute chunks.
Non-existent if you use an adblocker.

Anyone started Ripley? I've been looking forward to it for a while and really hoping it doesn't disappoint.

Farcical that they can have that level of power across Europe with their various clubs. How that's considered to be within the rules is beyond me. I realise that NSWE are aspiring to the same business model but they should outlaw it.
I might be completely wrong, but ours seems more of a soft partnership. Sharing of data, coaching techniques and the like.
I doubt we'll ever be seeing a situation like Savio on loan at Girona with City apparently buying him in the summer.

Yeah Dwight Yorke went for £12.6 million. Are we saying Cash is worth twice as much as Dwight Yorke?
Balmoral was sold for £34,000. My parents 2 bed terrace in Somerset was sold for 4 times that. Are we saying that house is worth 4 times more than Balmoral?

Weekly episodes and adverts. Streaming platforms forgetting what made them successful in the first place.
If you're watching on a browser, ad blockers still work on the streaming sites.

It'd be nice to agree with another Premier league team to buy a player off each other for a year - so maybe we buy a talented Brighton lad for £20m and they buy Iroegbunam for £20m and then after a year each working with the player, we both buy them back for £5m. Both clubs would pot a decent FFP bonus and the players would essentially just have been on loan.
Would that work?
Did Juventus' recent points deduction and mooted (no idea if they happened) prosecution of individuals not arise from a very similar situation in the Cancelo deal with City?

So apparently a stand out performance for the u21s, I’m convinced if we had t done the paperwork wrong and he hadn’t got injured we’d have seen him get first team minutes this season. Hopefully we will soon .
Surely that's not a thing? It would mean having to register every youth player at the start of the season just in case and if we missed the boat in the summer surely we'd be able to do it in January anyway.

If that was the case I'm not sure the three minute appearances would be happening.
You can probably structure it however you want.
I seem to rember there being a thing a few years ago when Griezman went back to Atletico where he was always taken off (or maybe it was brought on) on after 60 minutes. Any more and they would count as appearances for the way Barca structured the sale and result in quite a lot of clauses having to be paid.

Well all of those teams brand their club better than we do so maybe you should care.
Personally, I'm grateful for the return of your infallible opinions.
I don't agree, but I appreciate your benevolence in making yourself available to tell me that's just because I'm stupid, ignorant or just flat out wrong.

If we use Duran as an example, am I correct in my thinking that if we bought him for 15m on a 5 year deal then that's amortized to 3m per year on the books (plus wages obv). If we sell now for 15m we pocket it all for this year's finances - 12m (minus wages paid to date)?
Not quite.
If he has had one year of £3m being written off against a purchase price of £15m he still has a book value of £12m, which needs to be offset against the sale price. So it only gives a 'profit' of what has already been written off, in this case £3m.

Any coincidence that Atairos announcement and this was so close?
Dunno man, but Delphinhos senses are-a tinglin'.
New stadium on the horizon.
I imagine any investment funding a stadium would come much later in the process. Particularly as we have a chance to really build our brand value in the next few years.

Globally the broadcast revenue for PL games is included in the money negotiated with Sky. If clubs negotiate their revenue individually through ppv. The gap in revenue between Liverpool and Man Utd and the rest, would be huge. They have, potentially millions of subscribers in South East Asia alone. Possibly hundreds of millions. At the moment clubs cannot negotiate their own deals in isolation. Long May it remain so.
I completely agree that individual agreements would be a huge problem, I just don't see why it couldn't be sold on an official Premier League website with revenue being split similarly to now.

That’s exactly what the so called big six want. Because they will ultimately run their own pay per view and absolutely rake it in. The gap in finance between them and the rest would be immense. So no thanks.
Why would it necessarily be different? They could just as easily have implemented individual negotiations on the current TV deals.

That’s exactly what we all are, whether you’re ready to admit it or not.
That might be the basic commercial reality, but football is still more than that for me.

My point is we won two trophies in the 90s. For me, personally, seeing us play in the Top Club competition would be a remarkable achievement. It would mean we were a top four club in the league for a start and would be serious novelty to see CL games and hear CL music at Villa Park. It would be amazing, even if just for one season! We would be visible in a whole new sphere
Look we almost won a League Cup in 2020 and got to an FA Cup final in 2015. Had we won either of those I would still consider the 2010s, overall to be a crap decade , as we were always fighting relegation/chasing promotion
Does this make sense?
It makes perfect sense and I'm on the fence myself.
I only take issue with the absolutism and refusal to accept other's opinions as valid from some.

There’s definitely a release clause in there I’d suspect. Doing the right thing to make sure the club get a good transfer fee but he’ll be off in the summer
No need to suspect. It's a requirement in Spain.

Some people need to realise their opinions aren't infallible, or they might as well just discuss football with themselves in a mirror. Sure, CL qualification could give us a platform to move on, but there are plenty of examples to suggest it wont.
It didn't do anything for Everton.
It didn't do anything for Leicester. Their title came before qualifying.
It didn't bring success for Tottenham. Their one league cup in my lifetime came before they were regularly qualifying.
That's not to say that wanting the CL qualification is ludicrous, stupid or obviously "wrong". It's just someone else's preference, based on a hope (or in some cases assumption) that it gives us sustained success. I can understand why when football has become a spreadsheet game for many, both in terms of FFP and stats.
Personally, I think I'd get more enjoyment being at/outside of Wembley for us winning a cup.

I see David de Gea is still looking for a club. Wonder if he fancies boarding the Emery Express on an interim deal, maybe playing all the Cup games......be a definite upgrade on Olsen, plus a chance to get himself back in the shop window ?
I suspect if he was willing to be our back up keeper on sensible wages he would not still be a free agent.

Often I feel like clubs celebrating their owners is a little forced but in our case it's absolutely organic and justified. These two are Villa legends in my book.
I think it's when the owners are vocal it seems a bit forced as you end up with a cult of personality type vibe. These guys just get on with it queitly, so I have no problem heaping praise on them.
I must admit I'm also pretty impressed how Edens seems to be able to step back and let Sawiris do a lot of the day to day. That must be pretty hard to do as such a successful individual.

Villa Park redevelopment

I still live in hope that if they redevelop the whole stadium they 'reskin' the Trinity with red brick. I do like the idea of mixing the original design with some super modern stands too.
