  1. I see saka has pulled out of the England squad. No doubt he will be fully fit after the break.

As much as I would like to see watkins in an England shirt, I would rather he did the same for these friendlies with ' an injury'.

  2. Looked better out wide and seemed to have his pace back in this game. Nice finish and some decent play.

Fingers and toes crossed we see the return of first 10 games diaby.

Archer is injured, that's why he's not playing. I think the last game he played he scored In the 3-1 win at Luton. I get the ffp stuff but you look at Liverpool and hoe their young players have come in and done a great job. Maybe they have better ones than us.

They can keep their best youngsters as they are not having to do it due to their huge income. We've kept Tim and if he steps up he will stay next season, if he under performs he most likely gets sold.

I like him, he's got good skills can shoot and tackle well. Hopefully we stop this long ball way of playing we have began doing and he will fit in.

We sold off a lot of our best youngsters which we could hsve done with now. One not bu choice of course who isn't getting much game time at Chelsea.  It's a policy which has come back to bite us. A young player from the academy is far more likely to show the necessary commitment than many loanees who come on high wages. Time to give this lad a chance.

Archer who doesn't get starts for one of the worst teams in the Premier league ?

Ramsey whose out injured 90% of the time and doesn't get starts when he is fit ?

Azaz who isn't getting starts for Middlesbrough?

Or philongene whose playing well in the championship ?

Just wondering without hindsight of the injuries we have which we have no control over when planning players and budgets for the season, who, out of the ones we sold this season to generate players like pau coming in would be making a difference ?

The third goal is everything I can't stand about this bloke...He's the fresh legs and he just stops and starts throwing his arms around like a proper **** word removed.

Sooner he is gone the better, I'm fed up of him being brought on as a last roll off the dice to be absolutely **** shit again.

Far more impactive than diaby was, offered more both defensively and ball retention wise and had our only shot on target.

  6. Not his finest game, looked to be acting as the 2nd striker instead of playing out wide. It didn't work, he looked lost in a game he should have been impacting positively.

Baffled as to why we played the tactics we did, long ball and 5 at the back. Nullified our own attack as the players were isolated.

He was actually trying today - very hard to influence the game 2-0 then down to 10 men

He's been trying in most games, it hasn't stopped his form nose diving, he couldn't even control a simple pass when put through. Nothing is going right for him, he's either got some major issues going on outside of football or he's just having a huge stinker which has lasted 5 months or so now. Today he was awful again.

  8. Tactics wise was wrong today and player wise was wrong today.

Wish I'd gone out for bloody mothers day now 🤦

Teilemens on the left doesn't work, it just doesn't. Against poor opposition you can get away with his lack of energy, against strong sides you can't.

    Bailey central ?

    5 at the back ?

Lost the midfield battle as soon as that team sheet was published.

Mcginns red card, it looked to me like he was late but caught him with his knee rather than booting him but only saw it from one angle. No complaints with the red though.

Zaniolo and big Tim did ok when they came on, diaby was a total disaster.

You know its a terrible day when werner scores

Some self reflection required from the manager, down to all the players after that.

  9. Tough one, it's touch and go and will go down right to the wire

If I'm allowed to watch the game or the wife insists on us going out for a mother's day meal 🤦

O.k so he can impact a game v Spurs for a specific period at least.

I can't see us selling him anyway. Emery doesn't trust Tim fully for run of the mill prem games so feels a bit of a stretch he'll suddenly be starting big CL games home or away next season which is more likely if we're selling experienced midfielders like Donk and Tielemans.

We won't sell Tielemans unless man utd or Liverpool offer big money for him, by all accounts he's settled in the Midlands as is his family, we dont need to sell him and hes a good player. He just doesn't have the athleticism to last more than 65 mins or so in a physical or high tempo game against quality opposition. Doesn't make him a bad player, he just needs to be used wisely so for me I wouldn't be starting him against a spurs team that start 100 miles an hour and try and play like that all game. After 50 or 60 minutes they normally tire which would be a good time to bring him on.

We could use mcginn further up field for the first half and have a stronger athlete in there next to Dougie and then make the changes as and when. Tim being one of the only other players we can use in midfield especially if Ramsey is being rested or out.

Tielemans for the last 30 or even 45 depending on how the games going would be ideal, I also expect he will have played at least 60 mins or so v ajax a few days before.

Didn't he set up the winner down at Spurs?

If Ramsey is out we'll have to start him v Spurs I'd say.

I think he'll be kept for next season as he'll suit the CL matches. Summer 2025 he could be sold to balance the books with two years left.

He came on as a second half sub.

  12. While lenget has been decent enough as cover for pau, we just aren't the same.

I would be looking at the potential to keep lenget for next season, dependent on how mings recovers. But certainly not on the wages barca are paying him.

  13. He does well against passive teams. Athletic physical teams he is anonymous.

The way spurs play, if we have other options such as Tim next to Dougie and mcginn further forwards, I wouldn't be starting with teilemens.

Ah right, didn't know there was a Chelsea connection in the family as seemed an odd team to reference. Last season we finished about 15 points clear of them and this season it could well be 20 + so this is the biggest dominance we've had over them in the league since the mid 90s.

    Yes. It's delightful 😄😄

Oldest went to the cup final last week, I was preying they would get hammered but just losing still made my day.

I try and stay humble as with my father-in-law whose spurs and 2 of my best mates man ure fans,  as we all know that being a villa fan comes with no guarantees.

If we managed to get in the top 4, then I will big it up large, until then I'm just celebrating our wins and their losses internally.

  15. Thank goodness we got the late goal.

Great football 1st half, 1970s football 2nd half. The long ball was just giving possession straight back to Luton but we continued with it through the 2nd half.

Not sure why we changed our entire style of play but I hope we don't see that again if it doesn't work the first 3 or 4 times of trying.

    3 more points on the board 👏 🙌 👌🏼

Chelsea have nothing to do with us until we play them in early April. We'll be 19 points clear of them if we win today.

Their sole focus will be on the FA cup now as that would get them Europa qualification (even if they lose the final I think).

The top 3 will win the majority of games they have left so I just think it's near impossible to keep up with that.

Spurs and to a lesser degree Man. United are the only results we need to be concerned about in the run in.

2 of my step sons support Chelsea, so for me seeing them lose gives me a warm feeling inside as I've had years of piss taking from them.

Liverpool play city and also have spurs man u villa Brighton and West ham who are all in top half.

Spurs have villa Liverpool man city arsenal Newcastle West ham

Man ure have Brighton arsenal Newcastle man city Liverpool Chelsea

Man city have man poo Liverpool Newcastle arsenal Brighton spurs West ham.

Arsenal have man city Brighton villa spurs man utd

They are going to be taking points off each other or sharing a point.

If we can just keep winning we should get top 4 or better.

  17. This season he's gone from

"Ffs Bailey!!" 90% of the time he was given the ball

    To

    Give it to Bailey !

it's becoming easy for him where before everything was a struggle.

    Well done lad 👌🏼

  18. While Ramsey was far better than he has been his decision making was very poor. We need his energy but I'm not sure he did 1 thing correctly with the final ball.

Taking off Bailey ended pur attacking threat, very stupid to take him off bearing in mind he was getting the ball and doing something with it.

Tielemans another poor showing after midweek.

Not sure why these players have dropped off a cliff form wise but it's derailing our season.

On the only plus side, we out played them for 75 minutes and if the correct final ball was made, should have scored 3 or 4 more goals.

Another crap weekend another wasted 3 points and further away from the top 4.

    Disappointing.

  19. We've played well, had the majority of decent chances and picked the wrong option 9 out of 10 times.

Ramsey guilty at least 3 times when we were attacking and in a great position, picking the wrong option, he also had a very good chance and put it wide.

Cash, again calls for the ball, gets it and breaks down any forward momentum. Not sure if he's been told to not pass it forwards unless Bailey has come deep and man marked but its pretty pointless, wastes possession and allows them to re group when he can either progress it or pass inside to the ever open kamara but back it goes most of the time.

Mcginn was the only one to take a shot when it had opened up and it took a good save to stop it thundering in.

I would give it 10 to 15 minutes and if we haven't scored, look to diaby for Bailey as he's not been involved although he's not really been given the ball unless in tight spots away from danger.

Hopefully we can pop 3 quick goals in to settle us all down 🤞🤞🤞

  20. Need to win this one for a few reasons.

    1. To get back on track after dropping our standards over the last 6 or 7 games barring Sheffield utd.

    2. To keep in touch with the top 4

    3. To put distance between 5th and 6th

    4. One of my mates will be an utter bell end if we lose as he's a huge man u fan.

Pretty please 3 -1 to villa

  21. Subs made far far too late. Teilemens should have been off at half time, game was far to quick for him.

We were poor, not helped by every ricochet falling in their favour, and every 50 50 being awarded to them.

Almost glad we went out due to being the least of the 3 competitions.

Disappointed but not devastated due to the lack of shape and aggression from our team for a lot of that game.
