Im dyslexic with a known bad short term sequential memory. Happy to do the test but don't want to muck it up if you only want boring normal people.

You're more than welcome to participate! This is merely a pilot that does not test memory at all. Thanks!

I don't think the angry woman image does indeed represent an angry woman, exasperated yes, angry no

Thank you! We previously did a Naming task, whereby participants had to describe the action portrayed in a short video clip. We then spliced the clips into many images, and got the most and least representative image of the action portrayed in each clip. This clip was consistently described as a woman displaying anger, but, personally, I agree with you as I see it more as exasperation, and if the data in this pilot agrees, it won't be used for the experimental phase

Done.  I am apparently terrible at this. I know it is a "no" and I take my time and calmly press b like an idiot.

I have a degree in psychology so can often hazard a guess at what being researched when I do these  - but here I have no clue. Very interested though

Thank you! This study is just a precursor to ensure that we are using images that are "canonical", or representative of an action, for a later experimental study. In other words, we are demonstrating that certain images are appropriate to use as they are consistently agreed to represent what they are supposed to represent

  5. Hey all! I'm afraid my username has been but a cunning ruse all for all these years, as I actually work in research, specifically in the field of neuroscience. My colleagues and I will be conducting a study into memory later this year, part of which will involve the presentation of still images that will later have to be recognized and recalled. We are currently running a pilot study to ensure the suitability of these images, and that's where I turn to the VillaTalk family for help.

I have linked the pilot below, and would hugely appreciate it if you could complete it. It should take about 20 minutes, and entails the presentation of an action description, followed by a still image. All you have to do is determine whether or not you think the image matches the description.

Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup are two different competitions. Today's team was...

Zych, Rhodes, Softley, O'Reilly, Munroe; McBride, Afoka, Alcock, Reddin, Hart, Sewell.

Subs: Wright, Patterson, Pierre, Barber, Lutz.

FA Youth Cup team will presumably be stronger and  see the likes of Bogarde, Chrisene, Feeney, Swinkels, Burchall, Iroegbunam and others come into the side, hopefully Shakpoke too if he can get fit.

Think Iroegbunam is overage, but certainly a very promising team again this year. Even Carney can still play if we want him to!

He always works hard, but it’s almost highlighted by the fact he’s always blowing and covered in sweat etc. Whereas compared to someone like J. Ramsey (who I believe got the highest bleep test score at the club), running around non stop is just effortless.

They’ve struck up a good pairing in there. If Luiz can keep playing well in behind, that could be our 3 sorted for the year.

Pretty sure Watkins won the bleep test, mate. Agree that JJ looks a good athlete though

I wonder if Patterson might be carrying a knock because he usually starts wearing either the no.7 or no.8 shirt, so presumably in midfield, he missed the last few U23 games and didn't play for the U18s either. England won 2-0 Leo Castledine (Chelsea) and Princewill Ehibhatiomhan (Reading) with the goals.

I was under the impression that Kobei Moore and Charlie Lutz were 2 of our bigger talents in that age group. Interesting to see that they're not involved in this England squad

Not certain how any player can be described this way and practically finished at 24, unless through serious injury, which might well be the case, I'm not sure. Was it hype over substance?

Nope, he was exceptional. Playing way above his age for England youth sides and excelling. Could have been very special

I remember the last time he was at Villa Park. Went off crying because some Brummies gave him dogs abuse.

Not sure where you got this from. On his last visit to Villa Park he scored 2 fantastic goals and Federico Macheda sent us home crying

When Jack was in the team with Luiz, Traore and McGinn were we not playing in the top 6 to 8 positions. It was when Jack was injured we fell down to midtable eventually finishing 11th

Exactly. Without Jack our form was closer to 17th, which shows that saying the majority of our players are good enough for 5th-8th is nonsense

Realistically how many starts do you think he'd get at a League 2 club?

He's 18 years old and not big

I'm not convinced he'd play that much

His brother was excelling in League 1 at his age, and I'm pretty sure Aaron would do likewise. Too good for development football now

i can't agree with traore...take a look at his highlight reel from last season. the things he did, IMO, young is simply not capable of. traore will always frustrate...but he's got some serious ability

Traore fails 9 times out of 10, which you won't see in his highlight reel. The odd time he makes something stick isn't worth him constantly losing the ball and never tracking back. Young is far better

What is Preece playing at here. Is he implying the team essentially pushed him into the transfer? Or That Grealish simply didn't like what he was hearing and changed his mind?

"At one stage, Grealish was set on staying with Villa but, following discussions with his team, the momentum has turned dramatically in City's favour over the last few days ahead of a British record £100million deal."

Preece hasn't a notion what's going on. The only journo who didn't know Jack was going. "Absolutely no chance" he kept saying
