  1. Yeah one of the best success rate but doesn't mean he makes loads of tackles just when he does he wins them, the amount of times I saw someone go past him last year or just by-pass him for pace was stupid, He's our last line of midfield when he plays and yet he's far too easy to go past leaving us exposed. Recovery's aswell, against Bolton, there were 2/3 times Bolton passed through our midfield and were in a dangerous position before Coker and Sidwell got back to make tackles, with Petrov this doesn't happen because he isn't quick enough. He has to mark man for man in a 4-4-2 which he struggles to do because he hasn't got a great engine, 4-5-1 it's easier because he can mark more zonally and less actually running with a man.

On at least one of them occasions, was because NRC feel over the ball because he was put under presure, which he will do because he is not confident of receiving the ball under pressure.

As for Petrov, the list that he was was based on the most tackles made, he was in the top 5 and had the highest % of success rate so he must be doing something right.

  2. Petrov can stand around the pitch, get the ball deep, pass it back, get the ball again, pass the ball back. Let the midfield run past him. Yeah nice.

Petrov was in the top 5 tacklers in the Premier League last season, he was for most of the season anyway, the stats that they show on the Sky Sports website, with on of the best percentage of sucsess rate.

So it kind of defeats your point that he cant tackle, but then the Opta stats are most likely wrong.

  3. Our manager has in large, bought midfielders who are grafters, rather than technically gifted midfielders that we need to be successful

I don't think you can describe young, downing, delph, milner and petrov as just grafters.

You mention that we don't play football the right way, surely football is all about results and you play to get the right result. The fact we have finished 6th the last 2 seasons and are looking to challenge the top 4 again would suggest we do play football the right way.

Not an ounce of technical ability between them, all of them are water carriers. Sting knows his football.

  4. I would go for

    .............Guzan...................

    Young..Dunne..Collins..Warnock

    ......NRC..Petrov..Delph..........

    Gabby....................Milner....

    ............Heskey..................

Or if 4-4-2 then easy to change -

    .............Guzan...................

    Young..Dunne..Collins..Warnock

    Milner....NRC....Petrov.....Delph

    ..........Gabby Heskey...........

  5. Rino, I've been diplomatic on here up til now about Beye because he's still new to Villa and he might still improve, but from what I've seen of him, and I've watched him closely, I honestly think we have on our hands possibly the worst rightback since I've supported the club.
    Woooooooaahhh woah woah.

As recently as a few years ago...Aaron Hughes, man I despised him playing for us, at least a mistake a game, so bad. Could cross, had nothing else going for him.

De la Cruz as well. How you can say Beye is the worst right back you have seen is ridiculous.

Aaron Hughes as well, he was terrible, for Fulham on Sunday he showed exactly what he used to do for Villa for Gabby's goal, just back off and back off until they have a shot.

Luke Young is better than Beye but we will see how the season pans out.

  6. Hi Gerneral

On Saturday the Lichfield Road (A38) was closed in Aston and a there was chaos trying to get to the ground for people coming from North Birmingham area and getting of the M6 at Spagetti Junction.

As I am sure people at Villa Park would have known about this, I feel it would have been helpful to put some notification on the website and people would have been able to head to the ground earlier or make alterate arrangements to get to the game.

    Thanks

  7. Hi General

I am a season ticket holder in the Lower Doug Ellis stand. For some unknown reason in the concorse they have changed the procedure for getting a beer. Now they have one person that can take the money and two others to serve the drinks. This have just slowed up the whole process getting a drink at both half time and before the game.

Surely it would pay for the club to have more staff on to get the queue down as some people just gave up after a bit and therefore the club are losing out on revenue.

One great idea was where there was the seperate stands where people were just selling bottles of beers, this seemed to work well.

    Thanks

  8. Hi General

I will repost this one, you may have missed it due to the barrarge of questions about Gareth Barry, I would be grateful if you could answer. Before the home games, especially on a Saturday at 3pm, why dont you show, and even advertise showing the game that is a kick off at 12.45? Surely this would help generate income by getting people into the ground early other than going to the local pub to watch the game.

I know that part of the game is shown, however, myself and some friends went to the ground early to watch Man U v Arsenal a while back, at 1-1 at the game was switched off in the concorse after 70 minutes and just advertising was shown which has happened on a couple of occasions, and all the advertising was of the company that provide the entertainment on the screens, promoting how they supply the content to other clubs in the Premier League, whats the point in that?

I think that showing Sky/Setanta game is a good way to get people to go to the ground early, and therefore creating more revenue for the club.

    Thanks
