  1. I really don't think that including 1874 on the badge is going to decrease the opportunity to be profitable or affect marketing. You know Notts County are the oldest club, you are talking about them because of it, not because of their branding. It's a discussion point, there's no negative to that...and what's wrong with a club being proud of it? I also wouldn't say it's 'backwards' to be proud of being an historic football club...or being self-important about it. Who else is going to big us up or build our stature? Certainly not the media.
  2. Thing is, all you've done here is highlight why we should have 1874. All of those teams have had a name change since their original formation (bar Chelsea who were set up much later in 1905) and every one has changed their original colours as well. We started in claret and blue (well, scarlet and blue originally) and we've been called Aston Villa since the moment we were conceived. We are original, we have been influential for flipping ages, and we are important because of it. We're not like Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle, West Ham, and Chelsea...we're Aston villa. (And always have been!)

He's a great player and one of the most important in our starting 11. I do thing he scores so highly on his 'duels' stats because he doesn't go in for them as much as he could/should do. (See the Newcastle match and how easily it was to cut inside him/get a cross off) However, the positives he gives us when playing far, far, far outweigh that side of things.
  4. I think it's more like 'they bought a load of talented players without trying to form a team'. No joined up thinking in the signings and just a collection of players.
  5. I thought stuff like that was checked by VAR as well to see if the goal was ok. I don't know where we're at if something so clear is missed on field and then glossed over and ignored on review....yet our goal against Sheff Utd was ruled out for a pull on the keeper.
  6. No idea how Newcastle's 4th goal stands. Clear foul on Barkley. Ref perfectly positioned...don't know how he doesn't give it.
  7. Possibly....but I'm basing the fact that Duran's attitude may be questionable on the fact Emery has stated as much, not on a media article.
  8. I asked a genuine question about a player who Emery has openly stated his commitment wasn't where it needed to be and end up drifting into an insinuation of closet racism...
  9. As the badge launches were so close to each other, can the original consultation be used towards the second design? Or is it the final vote for a badge from a given choice that has been missing?
  10. Is this Duran's replacement before he is shipped off to Chelsea? Swap an attitude that is hard to manage with one eager to learn for about the same price?
  11. VAR on the ref mic in real time: "delay kick, ball has been moved. Yellow card for player for unsportsmanlike behaviour." *Wakes up from dream where VAR is used properly*
  12. Those are the only two things that he does, to be fair.
  13. Didn't mean to come across like that, apologies. Just think we're at a point now where our system takes away a lot of what we have previously expected certain positions to incorporate. I imagine KKH would be similar to Moreno in traditional defensive ratings...but the way we play accounts for that cleverly to actually turn it onto a strength.
  14. Hakon Rafn, was he named by Muttley or something?
  15. There's lots of ways to 'defend' though. It's too simplistic to see it as one v one, winning tackles and headers etc which I assume this references. From what I've seen from him, he seems to do that pretty well anyway. If his pace means we play the high line even more effectively and he can catch runners more effectively, our defence improves. If his passes can play through the lines instead of cutting back the majority of times, building up the pitch, our defending improves as we aren't turned over as easily. If we keep possession higher up the pitch whilst having an added element of playing through balls from FB as well, our defending improves as opposition can't make a plan to target and pressure the out ball from RB. People were saying Pau wasn't very good at defending. I'd rather have him in the team than not. This could be the case with KKH over Cash.
  16. I think Sabre was my favourite, not sure why. Possibly because she was really good at hang tough
  17. The colours look great together on that imo. Nice deep claret and the blue feels less washed out than previously. Although, that may just be the claret doing the work there.) The gold lion with added detail is a really nice touch...but I'm interested in how that would replicate on the cheaper training wear and leisurewear.
  18. Remember when we were all trying to decide if this was accidental or not Mad bastard could do it backwards in his sleep.
  19. I actually think Adidas are more likely to deliver a shirt that strays away from the norm as they back themselves to be a success. Castore, Kappa, Luke, all needed to stay conservative as they probably knew we were expecting them to make a balls up. Claret body, blue sleeves are likely...but I wouldn't be surprised if there was an element that we haven't seen before to let us know they are 'here'.
  20. Great goal, still a word removed.
  21. Similarly to the Ben Mee red card non-decision, the ref in the Boro match could not have been better placed to see the Moreno penalty. Absolutely perfect, textbook position. His assessors would be proud. So how the hell he so confidently dismissed any claim out of hand is bizarre.
  22. I think he's 'done a job' for us up until this point. Filling in on the left for Ramsey has seen him put in competent performances without being eye-catching. I think if he manages to have a run of games on the right in his more natural position, we may see more output.
