  1. Mr Capello showed the world on saturday where Ash should be playing and where his best position is. That is as one of a front 3, where he has space to run at defenders and get them turning, where he can drive on and shoot himself or put a ball across the box where Bent will finish the job. According to the papers he will be playing there tonight again, this time with Downing as the other wide/front man and Carroll between them. Why GH has not been playing these two either side of Bent I just cannot entertain. We would be much more of an attacking threat than we have been recently. Behind these 3 there can be a three man midfield of Makoun to pass it around; Delph to fetch and carry and NRC to break it up. Petrov can be in reserve. That would make us tighter in midfield and give more cover to the back four where Walker would be free to rampage down the wing. One problem at the moment is we do not have a similar type player to play down the left. People will say what about Albrighton, well he is a good winger but needs to learn how to play as a front man and be more dangerous in front of goal. He is still young and I have no doubt he will learn and improve but at the moment he would be understudy to Ash and Downing as Gabby would be understudy to Bent.
  2. Would like to see him get a run playing with Bent or Heskey. I think his best position is as "second" striker when he can make runs without being the main target man. May be worth giving him a go in there instead of Ashley - I think he would be more of a goal threat.
  3. Superbly put. Exactly as I saw the game, we were very very poor. There was little movement and, very worrying I feel, not much effort from the players. I wonder if the off field activities are having an on field effect? Do they still want to work for MON?
  4. Genereal, A big thank you to whoever decided that the large screens would show the teams/stats during the match and not some non descript adverts. I always thought that their screening in previous years showed us up as a small minded money grabbing club trying to squeeze every last penny - yesterday I was able to glance up and see who No. x was for Inter without having to find my programme etc. plus the details of the bookings were readily at hand. Just think that it is so much more "professional". Thanks
  5. With regard to Sidwell going to Chelsea, I think it is African Nations Cup in the middle of next season so Essien in particular (and all the other African players) will be missing from the Premiership for up to a month! That is why Mourinho has signed Sidwell, just to fill that gap. Now at the end of next season???
  6. General, Is it possible to clear up a matter which is becoming very concerning to a lot of people - that is where will the away fans be located next season exactly? The reason I ask is that it is well documented that they are to be moved from the North stand into the Doug Ellis. I was under the impression that they are to be put in the section adjacent to the North Stand which they sometimes have now plus a section above that in the Doug Ellis Upper. However, yesterday a number of persons around me, particularly some elderly fans who have had the same seats for a number of years, were saying they have heard they are to be re-located as the away fans are to be given 3/4 of the Doug Ellis Lower. As is to be expected they are very concerned regarding this - no one likes upheaval especially in later life. If a decision has been made, or even if not, an announcement regarding this to clear the air would be very helpful. May I also join with every other poster and thank yourself and all the other members of the administration who have been a breath of fresh air to us and given us hope for the future.
  7. Papers are saying that Sidwell is nailed on for the Barcodes next season
  8. Agree entirely with Bazdavies re Gareth Barry. Yesterday showed that he will be our left back for the future. MON has gone on record as saying we need more pace in the team. Gareth will stay there and a fast left winger will be one of the additions, hopefully in January. Manure were at their most dangerous yesterday when we were attacking, as they knew once they received the ball a couple of quick passes and Ronaldo, Giggs or Saha were free to run at our defence and put us on the back foot. We do not have anyone who can run with the ball, Gabby can run after it but not with it.
