Probably true. But I think that's a problem faced by the majority of teams who go up to the Prem.

FWIW I think our squad now is better than the squad that got relegated.

How are you by the way mate? Long time no speak! Agreed, we’ve got IMO the best players on paper (not necessarily the best team) in the league, however the players you need to get out this league will not keep you in the Prem and vice versa

You think we are settled and prepared for the prem now? Really?

I’m saying I DONT think we’re anywhere near ready for the Prem, if we do go up then 80% of the playing staff are not good enough even to survive in that league

Do you honestly believe Bruce would keep us up? Good heavens his football is turgid now - can you imagine what it would look like if he was trying to keep a team up. No I'm afraid the bigger picture remains for me and that looks like a new man at the helm

I know what your saying mate, I really do!! And half of me agrees!  But what I’m trying to say, is all the chopping and changing not going to make things worse? I’m asking the question mate?! Personally I think the ‘quick fix’ approach will not pay dividends in the long run! I know we all long to be back in the big time, but if it’s only for a season then what’s the point?? We will not go down under Bruce, but when we eventually get back up, he & half the playing staff are sadly NOWHERE near good enough to keep us in that division!!

  4. Physical attributes aside, he is a mile ahead of anything in this league!! I know it’s cliche, but he’s 2 passes ahead of everyone!! Not comparing him to Maldini, but as footballing brains go, he’s heading in that direction

  5. I would rather stick with for 1 more year and get prepared to go up, than shuffle and change things to rush up and get made to look like arseholes....AGAIN!!!

Were bigger & better than being a yo-yo team surely?!?!

Another young player being written off by fans way too early. Here I am seeing Jonathan Hogg holding together a Huddersfield midfield in the Prem, Mark Albrighton winning the league, the list gets ever longer and we never learn...

    (*Some* fans I should say)

Can’t disagree with feck all of this post! Sums football fans in general up! Well said Adam

  7. I know that's what you meant about the body shots mate. Canelo was always going to be a cash cow for someone! Turning pro that young with that amount of promise...he was always going to have a Don King type in his ear.

Tell you what I would have loved to have seen....Canelo v Hatton!!!

having said that the one thing you can say is that GGG isn't a fan of body shots

I think Matthew Macklin would disagree! I hear what your saying and agree GGG has fought whoever was 'next in line' where as Canelo maybe got blinded by the $$$, however as you say he has still fought and beat some decent opponents, I love both their styles (very similar) but for some reason have always been a Canelo fan, either way it's going to be a proper scrap!! Can't wait!!

  9. a couple of decent fighters (Canelo, Pacquiao, Hatton) have all tried...and failed!!! Mayweather is awful to watch but doesn't get hit!!! Mayweather has won most of his fights through not getting hit, not actually 'fighting' anyone!! No where close to being one of the best....the best stood and had a fight!!

  10. Personally I think any bloke who sleeps with a mates/team mates wife is a piece of shit...as far as him footballing wise...one of the best of his generation!!!

Let's remember that the season before last he was fit and available every game, at the highest level and playing brilliantly. He's a year older but with no more miles on the clock having not played all season. No brainier for me.

Not comparing him to the legend that is Maldini, but he proved that pace and age make up for a small part if your still mentally sharp. His impact in the dressing room will be priceless (giving Grelish a kick up the arse etc.). Shite person...brilliant footballer. It's a 'yes' for me

I judge him on his selections ( and think his selection of Richards poor).

I judge him on our players levels of commitment, their pressing, their fighting for fifty fifty ball ( and think it poor)

I judge him on the level of extra oomph in our play ( none).

All these are, to a greater or lesser extent, within the Managers control.

I don't hold him, by any means, wholly  responsible, but I expected something, and saw nothing.

I'm fully aware there is a long way to go and he can and may get more from them, but this is now.

Put it this way, had he got a noticeably improved level of performance, ( and by the way, let's remember many many Managers do just that in their first game - and with poorer players sometimes ) he would have been ( rightly) praised.

As the performance was, instead, as poor as any other this season, some concern, disappointment, and criticism is hardly misplaced.

In my case I speak as someone who in over 2,500 posts has probably criticised our Managers two or three times, so am hardly some rabid knee jerk idiot.

    It was a crap start.

After 2 training sessions and 1 match....

thus why I say some are clueless...

i quote "so am hardly some rabid knee jerk idiot"........yet you post 'that' after Bruce has been in charge for 90 mins!?!?

Can you also clarify what 'oomph' exactly means??

Your casting judgement after 6 hours training and 90 mins of league football??? why you need to state how many posts you've got is beyond me??? It doesn't make your post any less ridiculous

What a self important and patronising post.

You ought to learn people can have different opinions without being called clueless.

    Pathetic.

and without using big words or punctuation, I stand by the fact that if people honestly expect results after 2 training sessions and 1 game....yes...they are clueless

and yes....if they can't get their head around that, then yep....they are clueless

did YOU expect an instant turnaround?

Pathetic = the bloke on the match thread who hoped one of our players broke their leg

  13. Hahahahahahahahahahaha

some on here are just plain clueless and have no idea about football apart from what they learn on Football Manager!!!

our new manager has had 2 days with the squad and some expect an instant turn around!?!? Laughable....it will most probably take a couple of weeks for him to figure out how best to use the players at his disposal, so let's all not give it the Charlie big potato and actually give the new gaffer some time

i would bet his aim for today was 'don't get beat'

I realise that but one sign of a good manager is being able to change things with their half time team talk, whether that's a tweak to the tactics or sending them back out with a rocket up their backsides. I want to see a response.

It's only the last 2 games Conte has sorted Chelsea out having spent weeks working out how to best utilise his players.

Bruce has had 2 days with the players, a good manager can change things once he knows his squad......you can't believe Bruce knows his squad after a couple of days???

I would imagine Bruce would be happy not to lose today
